  • Start your memorization journey with short and easy psalms! Psalm 1 is offered here with repetitions for memory, including helpful video visual markers that greatly aid the memorization process. If you've struggled with memorizing scripture in the past, you'll be amazed how quickly and easily you can write God's word on your heart! I have included this psalm in two different translations, the ESV and the WEB. As indicated, scripture quotations from the first section of this video are from the ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), copyright © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. Used by permission. All rights reserved. All other scripture quotations are from the WEB (World English Bible) translation.

If you enjoy what I have created and would like to help me make more videos (including different versions like KJV versions of what I've already created), I would very much appreciate your patronage - the software I use for these videos unfortunately isn't free, and I would love to be able to spend more time devoted to this endeavor instead of my other jobs!!
Full Text of Psalm 1 in the WEB (World English Bible) translation:
    (1) Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers;
    (2) but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night.
    (3) He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.
    (4) The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
    (5) Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
    (6) For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

Very interesting. Wasn’t initially thing but working and listening. Then I noticed other than the repetition the mnemonic device you were using. Reminded me of one of Josh’s videos about what they were doing with oral teaching for predominantly non-literate persons. Also I already have this Pslam memorized, but I think I’ve now a means to lock it tighter attaching to the visual images that are already called to mind by the text. I can see how I would have the gist of a longer text rapidly especially for narrative passages and for those with strong visual images to have something other than a mind palace with little inherent connection to the text. Thank you. I learn in ways that I’m sure I’m referring to it incorrectly, but spatial and physical organization of the material. I learned as part of that for my job that if I have a blotter or walk calendar that I use regularly I have almost total recall by date and organized for specific clients so that I have a detailed and date-fixed memory that is helpful in working one on one with persons and for testifying in court as much as witnessing to people from Scripture. Digital calendars and methods just don’t do it for me.

This is really awesome! I do wish it was in kjv. That's what I'm memorizing.

I would love to! I just need to be able to pay the $50/mo for the software again and I could start making more of these, including doing the videos I already made in KJV, since it's not copyrighted, and I know some people love it. Maybe I need to start a Patreon site to fund the $50/mo so I can start work on this project again - I do love it so!!

What exactly is the name of the video editing software you keep mentioning?
I'm sure there's an app or free-ware that will do what you need for your project.

I really want to…just we can’t afford the extra expense of the editing software on our family right now. Should I start a Patreon? I just need the $50/mo to pay for the editing software and I’d love to make more! Thanks for the encouragement - I know I love learning this way - I appreciate hearing that others appreciate it too!

So are you saying if I watch this every day for 24 days it will be memorized?

My goodness, there has to be a quicker & better way to memorize it than that! It's only 6 verses long.
I'm sure you could memorize one verse a day for 6 days and then a few more days putting them all together for the whole Psalm.
Then of course reviewing it each day. Shouldn't take any more that 2 weeks at the most to get it into your long term memory.
You can do it Anne, prove me right!

Curious...is there a feature in the paid editing software you use that's not available in free editing software?
