- Foot drop may be caused by nerve injury. It is characterized by a person’s inability to raise the foot, a.k.a #dorsiflexion
🚨Every situation is different. Consult with a local #PhysicalTherapist for an evaluation.

I was born with a congenital right leg. And the only way for me to get to point A to B is to hop using my right leg. Just this morning I had foot drop but its okay now. What should I do to prevent this? I dont have prosthesis (too expensive to buy). Will my foot drop come back?
TeppsGG, as a physical therapist, my first question is was the foot drop on your right side, the one you are hopping on? Secondly, is there a reason you are getting around by hopping instead of using crutches/forearm crutches/walker?
Hopping on one leg is very stressful for that leg. We would recommend getting assessed by your primary doctor to determine if you need other referrals such as to a neurologist and or to physical therapy. You certainly want to try and find out the cause in order to attempt to prevent it from reoccurring, especially if it is on your “good” leg.
Take care! ✌🏻❤️😊 AECorner.com
@@AECorner yes, the foot drop happened on my good leg, I just woke up this morning and as I was about do my first hop, I stumbled on the floor. I thought it was nothing so I tried again and got stumbled again. Thats when I realized my foot isnt working so what I did was I just crawled on the way to the toilet just to pee.
Well, for me hopping is more convenient and sometimes easy than using crutches. Ive been hopping all the years of my life.
@@teppsgg3688, we certainly understand the convenience, but as we age, things like this can start to catch up to us. You need to consider protecting your right leg for the longevity of your mobility. 👍🏼
@@AECorner thankyou! Its time to save up to buy crutches. Paralysis and accidents really are scary
*sorry my mistake, typo. My bad leg is the right (congenital), the good one is the left
Thank you for your help and time😊

That's how I walk with my right foot all the time and sometimes I fall over my foot because it's like it gets caught underneath me and it's been going on for a few years now and I can't lift it up at all like what she did and I absolutely walk the way she did . I never knew that's what it was until today, it's so crazy and I have a serious diabetic ulcer in the same foot right now .
It a very beautiful thing to see myself healthy again after using remedy from Dr Ake on CZcams, I finally got cured of my footdrop with his herbs med and I can tell how great my health has turned out so far.
Thank you 🙏 ❤️🫣💕
I got it last year when I was in the hospital and had to get a brace which I’m happy the I got it because I can walk a lot better
So glad you’re on the road to recovery 🥰🥰
@@AECorner yup thank you
Common in FSHD
Dana, thank you for sharing. Yes this can be a symptom of FSHD.
It is always important to see your doctor for assessment to determine the actual cause of foot drop. Take care.

Hello mam i also have this condition and its totally the same as shown in the video i also hike my hip and knee while walking please can you suggest me the best afo for it
Thanks for your question, Verrsingh_3. Unfortunately the answer isn’t as simple as recommending an AFO. Our recommendation would be to be evaluated by a physical or physiotherapist. This professional can determine which muscles are weak and either recommend something off the shelf or refer you to a professional called a prosthetist (brace designer) for a specialized brace tailored to fit your specific needs. Hope this helps, AECorner.com
My ex sister in law had that and it was the first sign she noticed that she had brain cancer. She died within a year of diagnosis.
We are so sorry for your loss🥺. Foot drop is a sign that the nerve that supplies the signal to move the foot in an upward direction (dorsiflexion) has been affect in some way and should be reported to your primary care physician.

How can be fixed I had a stoke
@dianaslater9394, thank you for your question. Being assessed by a Physical Therapist after a stroke is best in order to work on regaining strength. If you are unable to regain the strength in the involved leg to resolve the foot drop, it may be recommended that you are fitted for an AFO (ankle foot orthosis) ,which is a brace that helps position your foot so that it improves your foot clearance as you take a step forward with the involved leg. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Wat is the remedy
Thank you for your question. We would recommend initially having an assessment by a local PT to see if the source of the problem can be determined and for specific strengthening exercises to be performed as appropriate depending on the situation. Sometimes this can be improved or resolved through strengthening, other times we use a brace called an AFO (ankle foot orthosis) to help support the foot and ankle in a better position for walking. Hope this helps. Take care! AECorner.com
How longs it last for? My randomly happened the other for about ten minutes
@trollalert2995, it can vary depending on what is causing the foot drop. If it continues, we would recommend speaking with your doctor and possibly having an evaluation by a local PT. Take care! ✌🏻❤️😊 AECorner.com
I’ve just been diagnosed with foot drop and have to wear a brace on both feet/legs. They go from my toes almost to my knees and then both of my knees pop out of place at any given time and I’m liable to fall. I already have a severe bad back and machine in it due to an auto accident at age 38. So, now from the tip of not toes up to my mid thigh I have braces and use a walker. This will pray fully prevent me from ending up in a wheelchair by age 50.
Lesly, wow, we are really sorry to hear this. Glad to hear you are still on your feet, even if it is with the braces and a walker. Take Care!

Hi I have foot drop after sciatica. It’s getting better, been about two weeks now. Will I get my full strength back?
Rovaniaina Raveloson, thank you for your question. It is a good sign to hear that things are getting better. If you have not seen a local Physical Therapist, we would certainly recommend it. They can give you specific strengthening exercises to help continue your recovery from the foot drop as well as for other potential weakness that may be present in that leg. They can also instruct you on stretches and strengthening in regards to the sciatica. Hope this was helpful.
Take care! ✌🏻❤️😊 AECorner.com
I can’t do that but I don’t have any (nerve) injuries as far as I know? Edit I do have flat feet/fallen arches 🤷🏻♀️
Foot drop can cause mobility issues. If you have concerns contact your primary care physician. Please stay safe! AECorner.com
I can kind of move my feet now but it hurts when I try to do so will it heal ?
rocorpian, sounds like a good sign with movement in your feet. We recommend that you keep working with your local Doctors and therapist if you are in a recovery process. Take care!

Is there anyway to fix it or help it?
Sorry, Kim we just saw your comment. Our advice is to consult with a local physical therapist who will evaluate you and create an exercise/strengthening plan customized to fit your specific needs.
@@AECorner it's ok, I know you gals are busy, I tried talking to my podiatrist about it but I have a diabetic ulcer that's ruptured in the same foot so he wants to focus on that first he said but I keep stumbling over it when I'm not having to lift it like a horse counting and I didn't even realize I was doing it like that until my 6yr old niece said "I'm walking like aunt Kim " and I was like tf , I knew something was wrong and I can't lift it up like that or even like my half foot so I knew something was going on but I didn't know it was a condition, let alone foot drop. But hopefully if the hole closes and heals we can work on that too. Thank you for the video and getting back to me, I really appreciate it.
Hang in there, @@stylez5484 It sounds like you and your doctor have put a great plan of care together. Best of luck and speedy recovery.

My mom walks like a duck and it’s embarrassing watching her. Her feet point outwards. I keep trying to remind her to keep her toes straight forward but he’s lazy to learn.
It's hard to break a habit. My father-in-law had a waddling gait due to a bad knee. He still waddled for a while, even after having knee replacement surgery. Would your mom consider being evaluated by a physical therapist?
