This is a super quick 30 year old CD player. Wish they were all like this

Circa 1987, Technics SL-P520 was the first CD player I had a chance to use with any regularity. I was a student working at the campus radio station at my college, and we acquired one of this model (then later, two more) in our broadcast control room. Our main source for music up until this point was two Technics SL-1200 mk II's, and this CD player was a great addition because you could cue up a CD with the shuttle wheel very much like we cued up LP's on the turntables. But besides that, the search times were fast, the programmable features were very advanced for that time, the sound was great, and it was just a fun machine to look at. Still one of my favorite CD players.

Up until mid 90's audio equipment was really good. Past that time,....well, let's not use the bad words here. I have over 25 years old Technics amp, CD player, tape deck, dcc, DAT,.....all working perfectly like the first day I bought them.

Alot of the audio stuff coming out of Japan in the 1980's was excellent but this changed in the early 1990's when China began making audio equipment for alot less. I think the older Japanese companies had no option but to find ways of reducing their costs in order to compete and I think the crappy stuff that they made was the result. Sadly people opted for price over quality and the situation hasnt changed. Like people listening to music on a coke can thinking it sounds really good and having no idea that part of the enjoyment of music is being able to hear it sound the way it was recorded with clarity and depth not digital 1 and 0's which in its most basic form is nothing more than a switch being turned on and off :(

I hate all of the rap that people think has to sound Jamaican.
