Hearing Connor say he used to think playing a character in dnd was cringe being the black butler guy is kinda funny
It's probably because it reminds him of his black butler days that makes him cringe
He probably cringes when he looks at those vids
Nah, as someone who used to think DnD was cringe and also used to be super into black Butler and cosplayed it
Lol
It's kind of a canon event so to say for the main dnd lovers to go through a phase of ignoring it because society painted it as "cringe" but it's super fun and I'm glad I played it , super fun roleplaying even if I didn't ever 100% understand the numbers on my character sheet but I loved playing out the lore of my character and the world
Its like a dark history thing, they cringe at stupid things they in the past. Most people do
@@ViktorErikFade Agreed. I've yet to play DnD, and sure, it sounds cringe due to social stigmas, but I used to play on a WoW RP server (It wasn't dedicated roleplaying, it was back when it was labeled as "RP / Normal", or something), and I did enjoy role-playing with my brother from time to time. Also, I was shocked that my older brother, who is the definition of "I don't take anyone's crap" from a quick glance (200 pounds of pure muscle, not like a body builder, but I've seen him carrying 300+ pounds at a time over moderate & long distances without hardly breaking a sweat. Just about the total opposite of me, lol), was into that kind of thing until I had tried it for myself.
I'm not crazy about roleplaying, but it's definitely still got a bit of a negative stigma surrounding it, for sure. Hopefully, like anime has become, it will one day be either the norm or the 'cool thing' that people flex about for some odd reason sometimes, as the boys have discussed in the podcast dozens of times now probably. :P
Is nobody going to comment on how "perspiring" is a word and "perspirating" isn't and they successfully gaslit Joey into uncorrecting himself?

Just saying, viet people LOVE Antony Bourdain. Vietnam was one of his favorite countries and he had a very deep love for the people and culture. So a lot of viet people love him cause he's a famous celebrity who really appreciates the country. So he's not just any white guy to us!
Anthony Bourdain was probably one of the most genuine food "celebrities", even if he hated being called one. And he holds a really special place in a lot of viet people's hearts. Growing up, I didn't think Vietnamese food was that special or cool. But he made me fall in love with it.
He made pretty much everyone in the world fall in love with Vietnam... So happy to have had him as a guide in many ways. It's an amazing country I can't wait to visit.
Huge agee
Who the fuck is antony bourdain???
Yeah, it's sad to see the team not know shit about Bourdain. If Bourdain recommends something, it's legit.
Tbh as someone who only knows anthony bordaine as the celebrity food guy i thought the same as them
Idk if any of the boys have read/watched much Anthony Bourdain, but he's about 1200x more respectful, appreciative, and knowledgeable about world food than Ramsey. While not as great a recommendation as a local's, the spots he praises are always good. And Vietnam was his favorite place in the world.
Anthony Bourdain was the 'Mr. Worldwide' of the culinary world during his series going abroad to all over the place
He was a real genuine person, love how he highlighted immigrants in his books and shows. Showed the world amazing hole in the wall eateries and even fancy places. Was truly a man of the people
I mean, giving them the benefit of the doubt they clearly haven't watched/read his works. Joey asking "has he ever been to Europe" about the guy who spent his childhood summers in France and was in France when he took his own life just shows just he didn't know.
Unfortunately I feel like a lot of people only remember Anthony Bourdain if they're American because his shows we're largely only on American television.
Yeah they just liked latched onto him and shit on him from a very ignorant perspective. Or Joey did, mostly.
Funny thing is he'd agree with them that why the fuck should a white man's opinion matter? But he damn well knew what a baguette was, he had been there countless times through his life.
@@iWeezildude also the Boys are some of the most bizarrely sheltered and clueless dudes on the entire planet, somehow. Every episode is another offhand comment where I do the face from the confused black dude meme
So a banh mi is traditionally made on a baguette. This came about from the french colonization of vietnam and a lot of vietnamese cuisine incorporates methods and facets of french culture. Another example is how vietnamese coffee is traditionally made using a french press, and also includes condensed milk, and dairy products are typically scarcely used in the east.
I'm glad someone else got this. I don't know if I've been as upset by a wrong food take that they've made up to this point.
@@thebrandoff5450 I can't even blame them at this point as they've made so many bad food takes lol. It's apparent they don't really know about food, but that's okay.
@thebrandoff5450 Joey, just saying totally incorrect shit once more
@@machineofthe6thriver430 All the talk from Connor about bread and then this, tisk tisk.
To be fair you can't honestly blame them for the baguette take, if you're not Viet most people aren't even aware the Viet baguette is uniquely different from the French variety. Lighter and a bit more airy as the perfect vehicle for banh mi

Anthony Bourdain was a huge advocate of trying out restaurants popular with locals and he loved Vietnam. I think his recommendations would be fairly good.
The true reason The Anime Man missed Anime Expo is because Joey doesn't watch anime anymore xD

One thing he complains about that’s really dumb is seasonal anime stops being talked about after the season ends. Like why would Joey care about it?
He said the thing!
He’s not worthy

I will not stand for the slander of the late great Anthony Bourdain in comparing him to Gordon or even disregarding his takes cause he’s white , that man is a legend who’s legacy is the reason Asian food has been exposed to westerners
Who tf is anthony bourdain
@@IWantToStayAtYourHouseHe was the host of a show on CNN called Anthony Bourdain parts unknown if I remembered that correctly. He normally explored various countries cuisines and street food and gave his thoughts about it. He committed suicide while he was in France and will be missed.

I wonder if Meilyne should feel flattered to be compared to Malenia from Elden Ring when that one "CEO of Marketing" saw her and was instantly like, "Bro, let me solo her!" 😂
1:37:00 the kids ended up that far because initially they just went to the cave to "explore" a bit (as kids do) as they were going home from practice. However soon after after they got in there was a sudden outbreak of rain, which started flooding the cave (there are signs about not entering the caves during moonsoon season but this was two weeks before, it was an unexpected early downpour). So they got pushed further into the cave, flushed out by the advance of water, and then when the rains stopped they were beyond the entrance which'd drain.
So those were kids caught in an unfortunate situation which was hard for them to predict, likewise for trapped miners, these are folks trying to make a living and either through ill luck or (as commonly if not more) company mismanagement and cost cutting they get into a bad situation.
OceanGate / Titan was a bloke deciding he had enough money to override physics, it was entirely ego driven, the company was known for unsafe practices, founder & CEO Stockton Rush for firing people who rung alarm bells and disparaging safety regs, and the trip was entirely exclusivity tourism in a flagrant death trap. So it's more like a dude putting a firework up his ass. When someone's suffering the obvious consequences of a deliberate action they were warned about, the empathy tap doesn't get much of a workout. It's like Britain and Brexit, or Russia and the invasion of Ukraine, or most of "america's funniest videos".
This is not recent either, they're further on the scale but few people were mourning Adolf on May 1st. Ir Benito on April 29th. More recently Saddam Hussein being found in a cellar or Khaddafi being executed were subject of ridicules, and there were endless jokes about Bin Laden's extraction and burial at sea.
As an American, hearing Garnt start off with saying that Joey "just got back from Vietnam", my mind did not interpret that the way it was supposed to 😂

1:48:48 feels like it’s easy to forget that cruise ships docks in a port for a day or two before going to the next city and doing the same, you don’t just stay on the ocean. It’s about exploring places off the ship with relatively comfortable travel accommodations in-between. Like being on a slow plane, only the «plane» is a small city with dozens of free bars, free restaurants, pools and arcades.
I actually met connor, garnt and Sydney at the booth line. It was surreal seeing people I see on my screens every day in person
In Vietnamese, bánh mì does just mean bread/baguette as well as the sandwich, so yeah that is why the translation could say that lol.
I'm half a Vietnamese American (in Wisconsin so not many of us here but a lot of Hmong) and haven't left the country yet, but I really want to go so hearing Joey talking about it makes me want to go more.
The submarine thing was more because rich dudes go into it, knowing it wasn't safe and a dumb idea, and all media and rescure efforts were focus on them. While at the same time a boat with like 3 hundred people went missing in Greece and there were no efforts put into helping them, the speculation is that since they were Pakistanis immigrants they didn't care as much. Which all together is just the dilemma of which lives are more important, 300 or 5
This!! Exactly. Like the dudes on the submarine knew the risks and thought they were above physics. The CEO was firing people left and right whenever they brought up how unsafe the submarine is. But their arrogance didn't let them stop it. So (aside from the kid) they kind've deserved it. While the news didn't care about the immigrant ship that had 300 people dead because of the sea(?) police actions but their life just wasn't as worth it to the news. Also all the money that was wasted looking for the submarine.
The European migrant crisis has been going on for years, so who cares about some boat in the Mediterranean?
This world have enough to care and save for both. They both haves lives. No need to choose.
Save the Pakistanis, those 5 are loss cause. Anyways, Titan imploded somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean while the immigrant ship is near Greece territory, how come there's no rescue effort for the one in Greece? Is nobody watching the local news? The world is not THAT small, no way there's no manpower for the immigrant ship.
@@cidv2888 and yet a choice was made, and surprise surprise, it was the rich people that choose to put their lives in danger.

23:26 Not just you Joey. As a trail runner I love this brief discussion about hiking. And just going out to these places and climbing mountains. The beauty, the beauty during those struggles. And the mountains you have climbed. They are with you forever and you'll remember it. Perhaps during the tough times in my life as well. I can say that I literally climbed a Major Mountain. I know I can do this. And among all other things, the people, the environment and the experiences during that moments.
Nah bro’s. If Anthony Bourdain says a place has the best food, 90% of the time they have the best food.
As someone who's Korean I can't say much on the quality of Korean food back in Korea but I know that western Korean food is WAY sweeter and sometimes saltier than in Korea. I remember my mom distinctly complaining that some dishes tasted like desserts to her when we used to go to Korean restaurants often. Ever since we stopped she started cooking more and her food was a little bit gentler. Now whenever I go to Korean restaurants in America it's a 25/25/25/25 gamble on if it's too sweet, too salty, absolutely perfect, or not enough of either.
I was so proud of Connor and his auction. You did kill it, man! And you know, I watched it for your nervous energy as well, cause it's very real and very down to earth. So proud of you!
Well done on the Trash Taste booth boys. That line was capped 30 min after opening and it was awesome to see it. Hoping for another one next year.
Can agree, I've been to Sapa and it is incredible. The tour guide for your group is someone from the indigenous town, they are very hardworking people. The view and experience is great, and the hiking isn't that hard, its cooling since its on the mountains among the clouds. If you do go there, buy the homegrown tea there! It is sooo good.
Sydney and grant bidding for the smosh stuff and their own stuff was so hilarious. Best part of the stream

Vietnam is the only SEA country most Americans could name. Your country is bigger than you realize.

Never gonna not mention this when anyone mentions the 5 rich people lost in a submarine, the literal DAY BEFORE, 500 people were lost at sea of the coast of Greece, not a single mention of it from the main stream news until days later.
Where do you live? In UK, there is a lot of coverage of the migrants in boats, including when boats sink and lives are lost. I would say both occurrences are tragic.
Disneyland in Japan is unique in that it's the only one that was purpose built as a clone of the first and original. The many other Disneyland locations are very much different to each other let alone the US parks. There's differences of course, but the core of Tokyo Disney is meant to be a mirror of the original Disneyland as unlike how they build international parks now; the Japanese side of development did not want an experience tailored to them - they wanted the American experience.
I'm really happy Connor talked about his nerves when hosting the auction. I've never been able to present or do anything in front of spectators & when I watched the live stream I thought, "Damn. Also I 100% share Garnt's feelings towards the ocean. I grew up around plenty of ocean, I even went snorkeling a lot. Now thanks to the internet, I know in hindsight that I had already had Thalassophobia back then as a kid (I just didn't have a word for it) and it's only gotten worse in recent years. Still, I LOVE beaches and I find the ocean and bodies of water in general absolutely fascinating, especially aquatic wildlife and will read and watch just about anything I can about those topics. Personally tho, I am deathly afraid of going into the water if my feet can't reach the bottom or - worse - if I can't see the bottom.
If you want to try scuba diving, Okinawa is an amazing place for it! The visibility is awesome and there are so many cute small things to look at. There is also an underwater sea cave that is really fun to descend into...

1:19:28 hearing them talk about korean bbq. Im kinda want to see Trashtaste X KoreanEnglishman collab on korea. Having Josh show the boys the korean cuisines and culture. And have them on Jolly and let Ollie's creativity in presenting the boys.
It would also be a great opportunity to see a 5 man podcast with Josh and Ollie on Trashtaste.
YESSS it'd be super cool!! esp since the bois have (some) proximity w KoreanEnglishman either way in Korea/UK. it'd prob have to be the food interview format tho since the only Korean media trash taste regularly touches on is food if not manhwa and the latter isn't something Josh brings up as a Korea factoid due to the generational gap ㅠㅠ but yah maybe someday!
@koreanenglishman 😉😉😉😉
Joey has been in seoul this year
Something i don't think they understood was, since they were billionaires, they we're essentially criminals/murderers since you can ethically become that rich without stealing the value produced by the actual workers and forcing them to live in worse conditions then they should be. Only sad the kid died since he was just there because of his dad.
really wanted to get merch this time but doesnt ship to finland smh. BUT IT DOES TO ÅLAND ISLANDS?
it is rainy season now probably in thailand too, cause here in manila its been raining everyday for at least more than a week now, thanks to LPA (Low pressure area) and south west monsoon we can finally have a slightly cool weather BUT the rain dude! there's really no comfort way of going outside while its raining especially if ur gonna attend a event and you need to take public transportation my goodness! 😂 anyways SEA friends stay safe and dry! good morning!
Rumors have it that people want you to start selling those mockups of yourselves!
So lucky i went day 3 and randomly was in the gaming room right when the line started forming. Took an absolutely dumb ass pic with the lads pointing and laughing at the air. Second time catching them in a a few months after KawaiiKon! Keep it up boys
I just finished watching last episode about friends and here is a new one 😮
1:36:28 It was different I think bc in the submarine there were like full grown adults and they literally singed a paper that said they can die.... however the cave rescue thing was just some kids doing kids things (atleast thats what i saw online when it happened like the reactions and stuff)
I CAN FINALLY ORDER MERCH TO EUROPE WITHOUT PAYING 100 USD IN TAXES AND SHIPPING LETS GO
Wait what?! Lesssssggooooooooooo!
wait why would you pay 100 USD in taxes for europe?
@@Xantosdude okay i over exaggerated a bit but for example when they released a sweater last year for 100usd then the total was like 170usd with shipping and vat
Joey knows that banh mi is literally made with baguette, right? Banh mi means “bread” in Vietnamese and the word is also used for French baguette.
They called Anthony Bourdain some white dude. What do you expect.
@@Matt-lq6zk They were making fun of the fact that Vietnamese locals reccomended a restaurant of Vietnamese food based on a white man's opinion, not saying that Bourdain is "some white dude."
Cant wait to see the channel hit 2 million subscribers 🙌 been here since 100k
I grew up in Tampa, FL and I'm 100% on board with Garnt when it comes to loving the beach but hating the ocean
- "I don't think there would be anyone who is like in Germany being like: Yeah so I really want Italian food"
Well yes Joey, Germans.
The boys should do an auction for all of the figures on set and then we can have another anime fig cross channel special
1:45:00 it's fine garnt, just check that there's a decompression chamber in case of accident, that way if you need to surface at high speed you can spend a few hours doing your decompression in a steel coffin.
1:45:18 decompression sickness doesn't make you explode (that's explosive decompression, which I don't think you can achieve when diving, that's more a feature of diving bell accidents), the bends is damage from bubbles forming in your blood and organs as dissolved gases fizz out.
1:47:00 not only did he survive, dude became a professional diver (he was the cook). He's on youtube and instagram.
"at least with a plane is a quick death" ✈️😅 lol
I concur, Garnt. Being on the beach is different than being out in the ocean. No matter how big the boat, the ocean is always bigger and deeper, and there is far more things in the ocean that can kill you.
I would love to go to anime expo but seeing those crowds stuffed like sardines is such a turnoff.
I'm curious about something. Does it get as hot in Hokkaido as it does in Tokyo? Since they get snow in winter I wonder if it might be slightly cooler.
so crazy, i was scrolling twitter at the same time as i was listening to this podcast and came across the story of the guy in nigeria just as connor started talking about it LMFAO
