    0:00 Intro
0:20 There is no evidence that a low saturated fat diet improves or reduces cardiovascular disease.
    3:10 Trans fats are problematic.
05:30 Government dietary advice initially focused on reducing fat and saturated fat consumption.
7:15 Randomized control trials done before government recommendations showed no statistical difference in mortality.
9:30 The control group in the Rose Corn Oil Study had a lower death rate than the intervention group.
11:50 Mean serum cholesterol levels were higher in the intervention groups but did not result in significant differences in cardiovascular disease or all-cause mortality.
14:00 At the time dietary advice was introduced despite having no evidence to support it.
15:30 More than 600,000 people die from cardiovascular disease every year.

I'm 65, lean and fit, and have not feared saturated fat for ten years. I have high HDL, low Triglycerides, low inflammation, low glucose and low insulin, but high Apo B and slightly high oxidized LDL. I went to a progressive cardiologist for an evaluation because a high level athlete friend in his fifties had a heart attack which prompted my brother (also a high level runner/triathlete) to get a CAC which was 350. The cardiologist did a very extensive Boston Heart panel on me and I've got two copies of the 9p21, the "Heart Attack" gene. He doesn't want me to eliminate sat. fat, but reduce it and he's more focused on improving my nitric oxide and the health of my glycocalyx since Apo B particles can't stick to a healthy, slick artery wall. He prescribed Berberine/Arterosil and Vascanox, all non-prescription supplements and we're going to retest in 4 months. My point is that sat fat is likely not an issue for MANY people who are not inflamed and metabolically healthy, but SOME people need to be mindful.

Just like a lot of things I think overconsumption of saturated fat could do more harm than moderate amounts of it but modern guidelines have shifted to as low as possible and avoid it at all costs which is what you should do for the processed carbohydrates sugars grains and fake synthetic "foods" moderate them to near zero so almost never and avoid them completely if possible I think if someone is very metabolically ill they are overweight and they struggle to lose any weight at all and they struggle to exercise they need to very aggressively eliminate excess sugar, eliminate the refined carbs, the processed food, probably eat zero grains or a very small amount (we really don't need grains) and at every meal have their protein source of choice with some vegetables and some fruit and then things like yogurt that you can sweeten yourself with fruit and you're not drinking fruit juices without the fiber and then maybe get some fermented foods for the probiotics (which we all benefit from) because there's definitely some gut issues going on that need to be healed because the microbiome being messed up is a given if someone is overweight but I think if someone goes on a carnivore diet yeah they could have a stroke or a heart attack if their current condition has set them up to be on the way there already so I think saturated fat probably can be overdone to a point until that person is metabolically healthy and active again but even for a metabolically healthy person I'm not so sure carnivore is such a great option long-term it could be a good elimination option but I still think a whole foods only approach is the best for most people. Not vegan or vegetarian, no not good either.

Considering that every calorie, including those from all so called healthy foods, that cannot be metabolized immediately is converted and stored as saturated fat for later use. Nobody has ever given me convincing explanation why eating directly what the body produces from i.e. carrots to store the excess energy should be particularly unhealthy.
In particular if saturated fat were as bad as bad "science" suggests, evolution would have led us to store carbs directly and not store it as fat. The fact that we cannot store lot of carbs really suggests that fat is better than carbs. Logic beats misled science I would say.
People who eat lots of meat often live unhealthy in general. I eat lots of meat and saturated fat but I dont smoke, drink very moderately, exercise 6hrs per week and always add vitamin or fibre rich sidedish veggies to the meat. I'm absolutely convinced if you take a million like me you bust every satfat/meat is bad study.

    Here's a ChatGPT summary:
    - For the past 35 years, dietary fat, especially saturated fat, has been demonized with guidelines promoting a low-fat diet.
    - Six randomized controlled trials (RCTs) show no support for these dietary guidelines, which affect millions in the US and UK.
    - No evidence from RCTs indicates that a low-saturated fat diet reduces cardiovascular disease or mortality.
    - The first paper discussed is titled "Evidence from randomized controlled trials does not support the introduction of dietary fat guidelines in 1977 and 1983."
    - The paper reviewed RCTs comparing low-saturated fat diets to control groups, finding minimal evidence to support dietary fat restrictions.
    - The trials included in the review lasted more than a year and involved individuals who had already experienced a heart attack.
    - The six RCTs involved 2,464 males, showing minimal differences in cardiovascular disease outcomes between those reducing saturated fat intake and those on a normal diet.
    - Another study titled "Intake of Saturated Fats and Trans-Unsaturated Fats and Risk of All Cause Mortality, Cardiovascular Disease, and Type 2 Diabetes" reviewed observational studies and found no excess cardiovascular risk associated with saturated fat intake.
    - The US has taken action to remove partially hydrogenated vegetable oils from its food supply.
    - Dietary guidelines should consider the effects of replacement nutrients, as replacing saturated fats with carbohydrates or industrial seed oils can be unhealthy.
    - The history of dietary guidelines in the US and UK is discussed, with a focus on the lack of evidence supporting the introduction of low-fat dietary recommendations.
    - The seven-country study by Ancel Keys is mentioned, which suggested a relationship between saturated fats and serum cholesterol, but Keys acknowledged that epidemiological studies cannot establish causation.
    - The meta-analysis of six RCTs available at the time of issuing dietary guidelines showed no significant differences in all-cause mortality or deaths from cardiovascular disease between intervention and control groups.
    - The reduction in serum cholesterol levels in the intervention groups did not result in significant differences in mortality, questioning the role of cholesterol as an intermediary in cardiovascular disease.
    - The conclusion is that dietary advice was introduced without sufficient evidence from RCTs, and current statistics on cardiovascular disease mortality suggest that dietary recommendations have not significantly reduced deaths.
    - The video encourages viewers to reconsider the belief that saturated fat and dietary cholesterol are harmful, as this is not supported by high-quality evidence.
    - Main message: The dietary guidelines promoting low-fat diets, particularly low in saturated fat, lack support from randomized controlled trials, and there is no significant evidence that such diets reduce cardiovascular disease or mortality.

A short one year study does not contain enough deaths to show an increase in mortality. this does not mean saturated fat is not causing an increase in arteriosclerosis. it’s like doing a 1 year mortality trial with cigarette smoking. You could have 1000 patients and have 0 deaths in 1 year. Does this mean cigarettes smoking is safe ?
