Hi, I’m in the process of building my frame for a pair Pax sliding doors but I’m really struggling to figure out how to fix the top rail , I’ve been looking over and over your process but still scratching my head..
@@cleethorphesdave852 Hey! send me a message on instagram and I will try and send you some close ups to let you see the structure a little better. If not let me know your email somehow ! thanks

This seller ships this item very carefully to ensure that your room divider czcams.com/users/postUgkxWv_wTHyTRVm0QkcOw1Rz2-5g_gDoRTkU is not damaged in transit. They even place stickers saying glass, handle with care. I originally bought a 4 panel room divider, but after receiving it I knew I needed larger for the area I was trying to hide. I wanted a 6 panel, but it was not offered in the Espresso color that I wanted, so I went with 5 panels. This is serving my purpose very well on hiding my dog's pee pads. I ended up using the 4 panel one in a corner behind my Christmas tree. The best thing is you do not have to put anything together, you just take it carefully out of the box and place it where you want it. It can be moved around very easily. Plus, these dividers start at the floor, so nothing is seen moving around on the other side like some other dividers I looked into. Now that I have a 4 and 5 panel one, I am sure that I can get them to overlap and work other ways should I need to in the future.
Brilliant idea! This is more modern and clean looking than a curtain.
Very good

Curtains are just fine.
Your idea is so great, made it look like Japanese style now.
Thanks!

With the bed being so close to the wall, changing the sheets will be a bear of a task. The only thing I hated when my bed had to be wedged in small areas. Still looks lovely.
Hey Liani, you’re right it can be a pain but it’s not as bad as you think because the door can slide to get to the side. But yep, just that top right corner, that’s the pain.
I use a fitted sheet ..
Just don't change your sheets, problem solved.
use a king size flat sheet....much easier and my room has a lot more space
I really like this. I could see it for a teen's room as an example, or to make a closet under a loft frame, or all sorts of applications. I kind of like the idea of using it to seperate my bedroom into an office and sleep space.
Heather Fultz that sounds like a cool idea! We’d love to see your project
Black paint! Gels with the door frame and the curtains too. A good contrast to the rest of the studio.
I would use an ebony stain with a glossy top coat to match the frame of the sliding glass doors. This is genius!!
A bit late, but I built a similar room divider. The only difference I made is that I built a combined room divider and bedframe with bed boxes underneath adding a ton of additional storage space. Also, I inserted the mirror pannels into my pax sliding door as it makes the room a lot bigger.
The frame could be painted white to blend into the walls or stain it with a very light color to keep it light and airy. I used to have an "L" shaped studio in NY that I made into 3 separate living areas, I LOVED that apartment.
it's perfect as is
Thanks very much for this video. Used it to make a room divider in a large lounge but built from the floor up but butting the frames together so they are not sliding. I then incorporated a sliding door to the side using the smaller width wardrobe door. It’s a brilliant solution! and i used an experienced carpenter to assist In door fixings and glass insert, he also built the timber frame for a labour cost of 195 pounds.
This is pretty freaking ingenious! Lovee this idea. I bet it makes the studio feel so much bigger :) Great job
Looks great! Love tiny spaces being used to maximise space and function.
Thank you Stacey!

That’s a great idea! Thanks for sharing your design.
Brilliant idea. I'd paint it matt black to match the frame, so it all blends in.
Absolutely amazing!!!! Just what I was looking for!!
What a great idea!!! This might actually solve a room dividing problem my parents have in their appartment to seperare living and dining room! I‘ve seen similar room dividers that were not mobile and that cost 6-10times more! I really think this is a great hack! Thank you!!!!
Thank you Marisa, hope you have a great new year!
In my next life, I wish to be blessed with the ability design and execute these types of changes myself in my home. It looks great.
Hey Lizzie, thanks for the kind words I'm happy with how it turned out. Honestly if you have a passion / interest you can turn into a passion you can make it happen. Start with small things and then build up! My experience has all been trial and error till I get something that works.
It's an amazing idea, thank you for sharing your brilliant idea.
Hey everyone, Mark here, thanks so much for all of your comments and feedback. After buying my studio I created this channel to create videos of my project and hopefully inspire and collaborate with other people.
The update videos haven’t been as consistent as I wished, but I promise they’re in development. This channel is run solo by me, along side my job and whenever I see your feedback, it is motivation for me to keep going, this video got way more attention than I thought it would.
The updates are coming in January, thank you all. I hope you all have an amazing holidays!
The Frame looks good, but why doors?
Hi Mark, I love the video as it's very informative and I really appreciate you took your time to prepare it! I can't wait to see more videos soon. Thank you and all the best!
Ewelina Knapik thanks so much, that means a lot
hello
Hey Mark, my vote is to paint the frame white.
Well done with the work so far!
very clever love people taking ikeas smart solutions to another level
and love small space living solutions id paint the frame white to be more invisable to walls
Love this idea! I was about to spend close to 3k to divide a space in my basement. I’m going to this instead. Thank you!!
When I get old enough to be on my own I'm planning on getting my own studio and this thing will fit in perfectly. I will 💯 get it
That's amazing to hear, good luck in your future!
That wide gap next to the sliding doors kinda defeats the purpose :)
I assumed the sliding doors were needed to provide privacy for the sleeping area, while also having light pass through the matte glass. But with that gap you don't have any privacy or disguise the sleeping area.
So any lightweight panels would have done the same job, without the need of the sliding mechanism.
random note: i've seen dorms and apartment complexes that have a second "room" where the wall has spacing above it so it technically isn't a separate "room"
not sure if that applies here but if there's regulations against it for zoning/construction or whatever, that could be a reason
or also just to walk through to it easier
Exactly my thoughts, cool design but I don't get the purpose of it
awesome! i was looking for a cheap option to divide a closet in my living room. This is it!!
This is an excellent idea! Thanks for sharing!
Y Liberal thank you!

@@ManchesterDesignStudio how much is the cost in labor and parts?
the frame doors remind me the Japanese style thing, actually if it's the paper instead of glass it will be much lighter and safer ^^

Neat!! It certainly it really looks like what I need now!!
The glass as works well and is a nice color. I wouldn't make it dark...........great idea and something I might try! :)
It’s exactly what I wanted to do in my futur house as doors for some rooms to give a little Japanese touch to the house...
That is awesome. I am planning on doing this between our kitchen and dining room
I do love ikea hacks - this one is cool for a small apt! I would love to do something like that but I have cement walls and ceiling. I have seen in another video from Japan a way to mount 2 x 4's which then become the 'studs' to nail/screw into but am having a difficult time finding them. If you have any idea where to find them, even if I have to order them from overseas, let me know! It is a simple furniture glide attachment on a U bracket at the upper end(ceiling)of the 2 x 4 and a U bracket and leveller on the floor end of the 2 x 4. Of course I'd have to replace the glass with paper for the weight but the look can be similar.
The wooden frames would look great painted a matte gray, somewhere between 70% and 90% black. You might add some pigment to the gray, such as olive green, but just enough to give the paint a very slight tint. Your use of sliding doors remind me of traditional Japanese sliders. Those are much lighter because they use translucent paper as the membrane.
The doors look outstanding and have always been a favorite. My sggestion for the window would be a white linen Roman shade. If you like tatami mats, they could be the thing that ties it together. They are 3x6 feet, look like sisal with black border. An inexpensive way to achieve them is indoor/outdoor carpet and have them bound in black canvass. Cant wait to see the finished apartment.
Hey! thanks so much for the feedback and recommendations. Planning the space has been my strong point but the finishing touches not so much. So recommendations like this are really appreciated!
The frame would look good painted the same black as the doors. Stylish way to add privacy.
We have since updated the frame with a paint job! Just finishing the updated video so keep an eye on the channel if you’re interested in seeing how it looked!
I really love the look of this
Thank you! I’m glad you like it
Great idea, really well constructed and video well edited and presented. I was searching for room divider ideas and came across this one. Really neat trick 👍
Thanks Stew Vlogs, I’m new to this so your words mean a lot cheers!👍🏼
I love this!!😀😍 thank u for sharing!!
It looks great, I suggest a dark color for the frame; either black or a dark stain. I'll be watching!!
stain it light color, great idea great look thank you
I used the white plastic fencing to divide a studio off once. Just connected fences together.
That's really cool!!! Paint the wood black to match the doors. Great idea👍
Thanks Daniel
Mahogany staining would look gorgeous!
Or paint it in light gray for more light...
Black paint. No doubt at all. ''Tis simply genious'
Sweet! It looks great 👍🏽
Thanks :)
Amazing!!!!
Paint the frame black mat color I think.
Love it!!
Thank you!
Awesome! Stain the frame because the contrast of the frame and wood look would be classy.
I would do white to go along with the walls. Seamless look!
I'm interested to find out what you'd do for the apartment walls! I realise the main focus is the functionality of the floor plan constructs but it would really make the space look bigger if something was done to the walls!
Good videos so far! 😊 Keep it up!!
Hey, I completely agree, the artwork is something we are going through at the moment and hope to completely fill the walls with amazing pieces. Do you have any recommendations?
Absolutely love this.
Paint the frame white as the walland your bed. Would look much better :)
match the wall or wood work

Hey there , I just found out about the wonderful of Skytta l... Glad I'm not the only one excited that ikea created a product that can be used as sliding doors in a studio
Great idea looks very nice!!
Thanks looks amazing like a japanise sleeping space or dojo I might do this in my studio /1bed
Thanks so much! I've never been to Japan but I've admired their design for a long time and think it has shown in my style. Glad you like it!
@@ManchesterDesignStudio thanks that's ok bro I dont like it I love it !!!!!!I'm in 1bed /studio n wish i could do that but dont think they would let me ?would I need to oviously still holes in wall n stuff? Thanks again it looks sooopp cool n cosy
Thank you! You inspire me n i should try to improve muy tiny apartamento
Thank you for your kind words, i'm glad you like it!
Hey! Just discovered your channel and subscribed! I’m looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.
Hi Beatrix, thanks for subscribing it means a lot! Have a great new year
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing the idea and video! I would say... You paint either matte white or matte black. Make it look seemless and flush it either with your the other window panel colour or flush it with the Auli frame colour. This way it will make your room look bigger feel bigger too.
Great idea!!!
Hi! I love your video! I'm thinking about doing this in my apartment although I'm hoping to convert a living room space into a bedroom. Do you think I'll be able to use 2 sets of pax sliding doors to make a sort of wall? Also, I'd like to make sure that the doors I put up do not make a significant change in the apartment physically meaning no real damage has been done and they are easily taken off and put on. How do you think I should go about using the same principals you've used in your apartment but without screwing anything into the floor or onto the ceiling? Also How do you feel about using the PAX doors as barn doors?
I have this very question as well. Any suggestions?
This is a beautiful idea!!
Brilliant!
hi
where can we buy the rail for the sliding door ?
what size did you use ?
thank you very much, amazing video !
The same as the room trim, it will blend in and look custom.
very efficient yet functional
I had exactly the same idea for my brother's studio but no one would listen! It looks great! I would definetly go for a darker industrial look for the wood frame. And some lighting. Looking forward to what you're going to do next
The frame needs lights for nighttime illumination
Yes you are right
That would look so nice!!
What a wonderful hack, can’t wait to do this at my humble abode.
farid miah thank you!
I would have tried to match that same door color to the frame, and also paint the door track black as well so it doesn't stick out so much. Perhaps some minimalist trim would go nice on that exposed side.
Beautiful work
Like the idea but why so close to bed
I'd paint them dark, like the frames:) good job!
This looks really good! :D
Thank you!
Would acrylic or plexiglas frosted panels make the doors lighter in weight? It goes away from the 'all from Ikea' ethos but might make it all lighter and possibly even less expensive. Thanks for the inspiration, and a Merry Christmas too!
Hey! It definitely would! The glass sections are without doubt the heaviest component of these doors. Merry Christmas to you too!
Also it will eliminate possibility of accidentally kicking glass panel while sleeping and braking it in the middle of the night.
Cool idea, i really like it.
ThePreminem I hadn't even thought of that! All the best!
Danish oil would look great!
The issue is once you start dividing up the small space, the room will look even smaller with the divider.
I wonder whether a Murphy bed would have been better for the space?
Thank you sir & it is useful thank you so much 🙏
This is Absolutely fantastic
Thanks!
very good design, thank you.
Thank you Eliza, have a great Christmas and new Year.

This was brilliant

I would make it Black like the Doors.
Amazing
Thanks for inspiration 😊
This is brilliant
I use several book shelves. Acts as extra storage space too.
Luv it- looks cool😎👍😊
i love this sssschhtuudio!
Looks great! I wish it was a little slower so you can actually see what took place during the project. However, it would be nice to see you paint it the same color as your slider. I think that will look wonderful. Blessings
That is awsome.ikea is great on innovation.
it would be great to see the install... is there something on the floor
Great idea 💡
It would be nice to see the whole room. Thanks for sharing! Fantastic idea!

I want to do this to create a shoji screen wall divider between living room and office to allow more light into 80s living room.
Very cool-inventive!
Great idea. Could you have made the frame without the upright in the room? So
You could slide them towards the wall to open the room up without being left with a “pole”?
Good job.
Brilliant mate, just brilliant - Peter V.
