  • This time we are up in the mountains fishing for brook trout from the solo pedal drive canoe. The tenkara rod was absolutely the wrong tool for the job but I still managed to catch a solid tiger trout!

This video, and other recent ones while they were in Mexico, are so inspiring... enticing me to get outside and enjoy the beauty. On days I can't get out to immerse myself in nature, I can vicariously enjoy the beauty of the outdoors through Brian and Liz's adventures.

Damn nice catch Brian! I would toss that in the pan too. Never heard of a tiger trout either. A good friend of mine swears by that type of rod. Never tried one myself.

Brian I loved your video, I hope that you enjoyed the trout! The landing would have been much easier with an outrigger!!!

Nice fish! Anyway you can get a fish in is doing it the right way. That said here are a couple tips on tenkara technique. Keep rod arm close to body with elbow bent. Bring fish closer by bending wrist and elbow to point the tip of the rod behind you. Adjust as needed.

If you actually catch a fish you're not doing it wrong.
