Do not forget that no single city in USA is sucking blood from other regions. Moscow is built (even in Soviet times) on money mostly generated by Siberia, Urals and Russian Far East. Oil, gas, gold, diamonds, timber, electric energy - everything is sold abroad and 99% of all the money end up in Moscow. People in regional Russia surviving on $500 a month salaries in a run down houses with terrible infrastructure. Drive 5000 kilometers from Urals to Vladivostok and you won't see any single highway. Moscow is a parasite on the body of Mother Russia.

@TravellingwithRussell Vorobyevy Gory can be loosely translated as Sparrow Hills (it's plural!), though in Russian "gory" (горы) literally means "mountains". But the word "mountain" is often used in Russian in the meaning of "hill", that is not so high place as a mountain.
But the word "Vorobyevy" doesn't really come from the word "vorobey" (sparrow), but from the last name "Vorobyev", which, in its turn, is derived from the word "vorobey".
In Russian last names the ending "ev" or "ov" is the ending of belonging and in old times it was used to indicate that someone is a "son of" or an "inhabitant of". (That's why words like that are called "имя собственное" or "proper nouns" in English - words of property).
The last name "Vorobyev" literally means "of Sparrow". So the name Ivan Vorobyev literally means "John of Sparrow". So "Vorobyevy Gory" literally means "Gory" belonging to (or named after) someone "of Sparrow". "Vorobyevy" is also plural for the last name "Vorobyev". The family of a person with the last name "of Sparrow" will be called "Vorobyevy" (like plural "the Johnsons"). In any case it would be more accurate to translate "Vorobyevy Gory" as "Hills of Sparrow".
But proper nouns are usually not translated. So you can just give a translation explaining the name once and then use the word as it sounds in Russian so that future tourists from other countries would get accustomed to the name and would not be confused looking for "Sparrow Hills" during their visit to Moscow.

At least at the early 2000s my friend had showed me these ruins and invited to take a look. As you can imagine it became sort of a public toilet. Altough I'm a local around these parts of Moscow its existence still kind of a novelty to me.
6:45 there is no "nice pathway" here or down at the Moscow River enbarkment, they are redoing walkways and, more importantly - communications whichare the main reason of this whole endeavour as far as I'm aware.
9:04 your hand kind of pointed to the building of the Russian Academy of Science Presidium -the one with copper plates at the top. They have kind of cool inner yard with statues and there is a wiewing platform nearby.
16:17 yes, but nobody in Russia calls them "the Seven Sisters", it's a foreign nickname for them. We call them "Stalin's high-rises". And they all were built in the Moscow proper.
17:41 do you know who has the coolest view? There is a little rotund with windows all around right under the spiel and it is a rector's working cabinet. And under the rector's cabinet there is a University's museum, as far as I remember, but sadly it is not easily accessible for random people.
