I have my baby quilt made for me by a very poor woman who was a neighbor of my grandmother. It was pieced crazy style with embroidery stitches. It’s humble and beautiful.

I have done only feather stitch over one of my eco blocks and made it look like a rambler rose. It's a beautiful, versatile stitch and I need to use it more often 😁❤️
What a lovely treat to have an extra video! All of the stitches are lovely. I hope this is a taster for a longer Monday video because I love the look of crazy patchwork but I seem to have a blind spot when it comes to joining the random shapes.

Oh this brings back memories of stitching blue pattern tray cloths with my grandmother. I’ve just reignited my desire to stitch after many, many years and thanks to you I feel so much more confident with it. I really wanted to stitch a crazy knee quilt, how did you know? 😂

I always thought that my grandma's feather stitching looked like litte branches crossing the seams. It looked like she used crochet cotton
. We were always fascinated when we received a box (she lived in Northern Saskatchewan)
Crazy quilt throws, quilts, socks and mittens usually Christmas.
My first quilt was for a junior size bed that my dad had made.. there was a crib quilt for my younger sister. These ones had wool batting. Possibly 1959

Terrific Kathryn. I've worked backwards from Crazy Patchwork 2 to 1 to this one. I didn't think I would be interested, but of course after seeing so many other people's wonderful interpretations I'm definitely giving it a go. I used to love my Mum's half-finished embroidery pieces on printed cloth. I still have them.

It's very gratifying to see that you make your spider webs the same way I've done it in the past. 😁 I also appreciate the demonstration of chevron and cretan stitches. I've tried them in the past, from diagrams, but was never confident of my results.

Very nice video. I love to do crazy quilting and I own a very nice antique one. For left handers if you face your laptop to a mirror and watch the video in the mirror it is left handed. My friend has a mirror in her craft room.

I have a crazy patchwork quilt that my grandmother made for me and it is done with the fly stitch...I always called it the chicken foot stitch. 😅

I know what's behind those spider's webs: the simple fact that hardly anyone (myself included, of course) knows how to do these stitches (esp. herringbone, chevron, Cretan) properly around a corner. 🤣But, please, prove me wrong. Excellent idea, though & thx a lot for mentioning it. Any other tricks for corners? (There're loads of corners in a crazy quilt block...)Thanks again 😊
😂 I know what you mean, some of those stitches get a little weird looking if you make a sharp turn. I think the trick is to meander gently over a corner rather than following it exactly, or stitch a little motif in a tight corner, like a lazy daisy flower, or soften the curve with lace or couching.., actually so many things you can do. 😁 We will explore in next Monday's video when we start the embellishments. 😉❤️
