Oh boy!! You really blew this 82 year old out of the water today with your lovely whittering!!! Still Crazy … Sound of Silence … Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Oh my!!! I’m old enough to have worn out the vinyl, the cassette, the 8-track, and the CD. And now I have the Midnight Train to Georgia ear worm crawling around in my brain! What precious memories you have stirred up this morning.
I’ve dabbled a little in crazy quilting and have the books you do. I also have two very different antique crazy quilts, one from my mother’s grandmother and one from my father’s grandmother. One is silks and velvets and heavily embroidered. The other is cotton with simple seam stitching. What makes it very special is my great grandmother embroidered the names of her husband, her children, her siblings, parents and many others of her extended family. It was truly invaluable to my genealogy research. I treasure them so much.
Sorry this is so long. I just enjoyed your post this morning so much. I will go sit with my memories and construct my crazy quilt block. ❤️

Ive never seen crazy quilting done in such a tedious meticulous manner. I just run it through the machine and it goes fast and easy. This is torture to my adhd brain. But fascinating as well. Running stitches and paper shapes...insanity. absolutely insane. Just running it through the machine is the exact same outcome without all the pointless tedious bits. Its the only kind of wuilting i like because of it being so fast. This has taken all the best bits of crazy quilting thrown them in the bin and all the worst bits of normal quilting and painstakingly dragged it out to the nth degree. 😂 but still i do find the insanity of it compelling.
I stopped the video, because I would forget and I've meant to tell you this before and forgot 😅: thank you for telling us about this youtube ads thing! I've never heard about it anywhere else and now I'm letting the ads play till the end on your channel and on other channels that I enjpy and want to support. Such a small thing, but if it makes a difference for all of you lovely generous people who share your skill and knowledge with us, I am thrilled to do it.

Thank you, Kathryn, for another super tutorial. I've inherited a very vintage crazy quilt with tattered pieces. You've given me inspiration for how to fix it ❤. I didn't know that crazy quilts were made without batting... very helpful to know... so I won't try to stuff it 🤣.
I also had about 92 unfinished fan blocks donated to me. Will get right on it and add fancy stitching and lace. I love all your ideas 🤗❤

Don’t apologise for talking about the money stuff, I watched CZcams for years before I started understanding about how CZcamsrs make money and only then when one of the creators I watch explained some things. I genuinely think that many many people have no idea and they don’t realise that subscribing doesn’t cost money, liking doesn’t cost money. Usually people associate subscriptions cost money. It’s perfectly reasonable to ask people to not skip ads, watch to the end and hit the like button, you give us so much it is the least we can give in return. I had a birthday recently (60th) and my sister gave me flowers cake and bubbles so I’m wishing you flowers, cake and bubbles 🫧🌺🌺🌺🎂💚

I think I am slower than other subscribers but I have resolved not to mind and just complete the ones that my brain believes it can do. 🤷 Nothing succeds like success as they say. Just watched the stitches and this video back to back. I’ve been finishing up yet another rice bag and a “project bag”, as well as a couple of meditation rolls I’m going to try a private swap with. Whew! Need to do the “8 only”, Boro-inspired, comfort cloth before I tackle this one, but I can’t wait. Thank you, as always, for the time you take to allow us a glimpse into your stitching life. It’s ever so enjoyable ❤❤.

I have ALWAYS felt ambivalent to my birthday. It falls on the 4th of July - I know, not something the Brits appreciate, lol … but here in the USA, it’s quite the ‘to-do’, especially with the fireworks. My birthday always took a backseat to the July 4th celebrations, so I rarely had a fuss made over me, often being an afterthought … but being the introvert I am, I liked it that way, lol.
Looking forward to catching up on the last 4 prompts. Once they’re caught up, I plan on starting to assemble them into a scroll as they are all 7” tall and I have the perfect spool … let’s see if it will carry the whole year or if I’ll have to break down and use both of the spools I have.
Totally enjoying your “Weekly Wittering”, as it feels like you’re sitting with me having a chat.

Happy belated birthday. I just found you yesterday, so now am having a bit of a binge. It is midwinter in Aotearoa New Zealand and so it's cool and sometimes rainy, but the last few days have been frosty and beautifully sunny. The winters are warmer than they were when I was a child. Mind you, my house is insulated and warm, but when I was a child we had scrim walls and no insulation. I remember the wallpaper billowing in the wind and ice from the frost on the inside of the windows. We use to run into the kitchen to get dressed in front of a very smelly kerosene heater. I love the yellow silk from your husband's cravat. Very stylish 😎 my father wore cravat on occasion, wrote poetry, and smoked a pipe. The memory, your yellow silk provoked, brought a smile to my face.
It would take hours of work to make a whole quilt from crazy squares. They would make a gorgeous waistcoat though.

Just finished constructing my piece - a combination of seamed and raw-edged... a little fudging here and there, but passable for a first attempt. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. 😊
