This series alone worth my internet bill
Dhin Cardoso 🧐
i know right they always make me excited to find new roms to play lol thankful he has to play through a ton of crap to recommend the gems for us lol
Calm down 🤦🏻♂️
I love how the video started as "cool games in consoles you don't expect them to be" to "deep dive into how different cultures approach gaming". I have never heard of the X86000 console either.
This channel is solid gold
Speaking of X68000, you'll want to check out History of Elthlead on that computer...it's an EXCELLENT prequel to the Langrisser series on the Genesis/SNES/Saturn/PSX which is currently being remade and released on modern consoles and Steam...also Crest of Gaia on the PC Engine.
Paul Bizkit The x68000 was one of the most powerful home computers of it's time, and was used by companies like Capcom as devkits for their arcade games; so it has one of the better game libraries of any retro home PC. They're not cheap for original hardware, but emulators and FPGA cores exist.
@@zachreddy - It was WAY ahead of it's time, and is emulated excellently on the PC...
I highly recommend checking out "Replay" by Tristian Donovan, well worth the read to learn about all sorts of weird forgotten games I had no idea existed
That's because when it comes to X68000 games that have been officially released outside Japan, the pickings are really slim. I can only think of Castlevania Chronicles off the top of my head.
I have not played any SMS but Sega sure makes well animated Disney characters.
Even there's a Brazilian TecToy Mickey Mouse game never released in any other region and it's pretty good
There are lots of great Disney game on the SMS, including the kinda "famous" illusion trilogy, please check it out ♥
I think you can play master system carts on Genesis. I haven't played a bunch of them either
I love your channel...
@@jacobprice8048 You need the power base converter to do that .....
"My dear Mr.Drunk, we are at war with the Spanish.." made me laugh!
Haha
If you think Captain Blood was out there, you really ought to check out its sequel Commander Blood. It's amazing and completely insane even compared to Cryo's other stuff.
Never seen games like those... absolutely unique!
woah
So glad to see someone giving "Pirates!" Some love.
A new Pirates-like retro-style game would be so cool.
It's a great game. I recommend the Amiga version for its nice graphics, but the version I played the most was Atari ST.
I love this series. It very inspiring to see all the incredible games that could have been lost to the nooks and crannies of time and obscurity.
I loved the Lucky Dime Keeper back in the day. Thanks, great content as always
SNES Drunk, every single video is top quality, redact and content wise. We don't deserve you. 👌🏼
i know right they always make me excited to find new roms to play lol thankful he has to play through a ton of crap to recommend the gems for us lol
Thank you for watching
Ogre battle 64 is one of my all time favorites! I LOVED training my troops and building my armies exactly how I wanted it. Also liked Warlocked quite a bit.
Captain Blood is such a fantastic game. Even now, there's absolutely nothing on any system that can compare to it. It's just... unique.
I remember getting Commander Blood in one of those PC game bundles that came with like 12 games and it was definitely the oddest one of the bunch. I somehow managed to make progress even tho I had no idea what the hell was going on, but eventually got stock at a certain point.
I played this again just last week for the first time in nearly 30 years! The Jean Michelle Jarre music is awesome!
@@TonyGearSolid Well, Commander Blood was defintely a weaker title (we were at the end of the "French Touch" era, which gave us people such as Eric Chahi (Another World), Frederic Raynal (Alone in the Dark) or Paul Cuisset (Flashback)).
"My dear mister, DRUNK"
It feels like he hates to need your help. LMAO
Whoaaa was not expecting Warlocked! Some of the wizard abilities would break the game but you can decide to play without them and the learning curve was very fair

Chief Thunderhorse The Revenge interesting 🧐
SNES drunk just saw it 😊
SNES drunk I’m liking this series
If you like Pirates! Be sure to check out Uncharted Waters on the NES.
When are you going to use your powers for good and get us a new PS4/Steam Front Mission, Drunk? Not that first person crap they tried to switch to, the GOOD shit. That turn based stuff.
ApplePippinDrunk... is that coming?
When my RPG-starved-self got Ogre Battle 64 as a teenager all my jealousies of everyone enjoying their many PlayStation RPGs disappeared. I put so many hours into OB64. It still lives in my N64.
PSX got Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Vandal Hearts, SaGa Frontier 1&2, Brigandine, and Legend of Dragoon though...so still whooped yo ass with your OB64, Quest 64, Aidyn Chronicles, Paper Mario, and Hybrid Heaven.
I was stoked i found it for 15bucks at a flea
Johnny Proctor no doubt. I did get a PS1 from my cousin after he got PS2 and caught up some. Tactics Ogre was my most played title.
@@dpgreene - Speaking of PS1, Final Fantasy Tactics was good too...but I still like Tactics Ogre better.
Johnny Proctor I didn’t play FFT on PS1 very much but I did play the GBA one a lot. And GBA also has a great Tactics Ogre game.
Ogre battle 64 was amazing I spent a lot of tine on that game
I just want you to know how much I love your videos. I'm 38 and I grew up with a snes, so I have serious nostalgia for this stuff! Thanks to you I've had a chance to go back and play a lot rpgs and beat em ups that i missed back then. Honestly, your videos have helped me discover to much to mention here. Anyway, thank you, and please keep up the kick ass content!
Man... Warlocked has an amazing soundtrack. I dabbled with that one a little bit, but what a cool little game! Thanks for that surprise 3DO title too... it's so interesting seeing what's hiding on other consoles I barely know anything about.
I played the sequel to Captain Blood, Commander Blood and I can assure you that it is just as WTF as the original
Rick K. Awesome 😎
Got dope music.
czcams.com/video/-RWEBCwtkp8/video.html
Great 2nd chapter to this topic. These videos always send me searching for new amazing games to check out. Thank you for the awesome work.
Quite the variety. Great video.
Red Alarm for VB was a childhood favorite of mine. Got it for less than $5 and the VB system was only $30. Got it as a kid when they were unloading stock at Walmart when the system had been discontinued.
VB had some solid games for its small library.
This is a fantastic series within a truly amazing channel. I honestly think you might be my favorite CZcams channel. You have a great way of covering your subjects, you always mix up what you look at, you have a very consistent release schedule, and I just really appreciate what you're doing. I'm very happy as a subscriber, and every time you post a new video, I end up spending a couple hours watching your older ones while I work. We're going to start working in the office instead of from home in a couple months, and that's going to suck.
That's a really nice thing to say, thanks Troy
@@SNESdrunk You should be proud, man! It's informative and entertaining to watch your stuff. And it should make you feel good to think of all the people who saw a game that they otherwise would never have heard of on your channel, and spent hours enjoying it. Just thinking of the people who tried Crystalis from your videos alone, that makes me happy. I'm glad you appreciate what I'm saying, but there's nothing nice about it. You've made so many of my days better, and I'm really grateful.
Great quality content. As always a big thank you SNES Drunk.
Yay for Lucky Dime Caper, it's such a hidden gem. The Master System is in general very overlooked. Maybe because a lot of the games on it seem like they have better ports on the Genesis while they're actually very different games. Castle of Illusion for instance has different levels, enemies etc. It's really worth it to dive deeper into the library.
Nice of you to mention Lucky Dime Caper. This game was a huge part of my childhood on the Master System along with Sonic and Castle of Illusion.
I would like to say that I have really been enjoying you getting outside of SNES and doing more consoles. I think you are an excellent reviewer, so it makes for even more great content from you. SnnnNnNNNnNnnnnNnes Drunk!
Hell yes - Strife! No one ever talks about this game and it's a shame! Totally underrated.
I love this new series of videos, very interesting! Pirates on NES is actually one of the next games I want to try. I own a CIB copy but still haven't played it.
This was an excellent video, there are some obscure and amazing looking titles here. Thank you for sharing Drunk.
I've played Lucky Dime Caper on the GG before and it is still one of my favorite games till date. easy to finish and fun to play
So nice to see Ogre Battle 64 on a SNESdrunk video. I played the hell out of it back in the 90s. 'Twas a fine gem on the N64 that still holds up graphically today while 90% of the consoles game's do not.
Good video. Nice to see some X68000 love. If you (and I mean anyone reading this) hasn't played Aquales for the X68000, give that one a go. Good stuff.
I would love a new Ogre Battle game. Ogre Battle 64 was my entry into the series and I’ve been in love with it ever since.
Good stuff as always. That Donald Duck game for Sega is crazy! It makes you think of all the ‘swing and miss’ games on the system that could have been way better.
Some oddball stuff out there. Glad to have you as our Indiana Jones, unearthing these relics.
Such a great video. Thank you!
Thanks for this drunk! I have been looking forward to playing Liciennes quest for a while, after I beat Guardian War on 3DO, a genre I thought I'd never play, but it's so good!
Thank you so much for your channel
There's a PC engine 6 button controller (well, many of them) you can use them to play Street Fighter II and have one hell of a good experience with it that way!
Pirates is such a great game, I spent hours playing this back in the 90s
I remember running into Strife back then when I played Doom and every WAD available!
No, no no.... YOU have a great rest of YOUR day. Thanks for another great video! Always puts me in a good mood.
Total length of video: 535 secs.
Total length of "SNES Drunk": 3.5 secs.
.65% of the video was spent listening to "SNES Drunk."
Because it’s a valuable service. Count your blessings.
I think we could take it up to 1.5%, maybe 2%, and it would still be delightful
Joshua J Why NOT?
Yes but where is the compilation video?
@@QuwehShunMark Right here! czcams.com/video/hwwk6iHwNVY/video.html
Cool new video type. Haven't heard of some of these
I've got Pirates! for the NES. Loved it when I was a kid but didn't know how to play properly. I was just a simple kid back then. See anything about pirates, buy it. But now, I might try and play it properly. Even changed the battery.
黒井カイKai Kuroi 🤩
My fave would be the Gold ver. for MD/GEN but it's a very good port.
Ross Scott taught me everything I know about strife. Good mention.
Some games on this list I'd definitely heard of, but most I hadn't. And this is one cool list of games. That Atari ST game looks amazing, as does the brawler for the X68000.
Fantastic video sir.
Oh god hearing the score from Ogre Battle 64 brings back amazing memories. It was one of my fave games on the system. :)
Good video, dude!
Mad Stalker is my jam, so glad you showed that but the highlight for me was Strife. Never heard of it but looks awesome!
Strife is really good, sort of halfway to a metroidvania in FP view and almost every character is voiced.
@@Alianger Adding it to my log for sure!
(Video starts with Ogre Battle 64 music) You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.
wow, fantastic stuff!
Very cool video.
A very interesting and good video about these games.the jrpg on 3DO was a biggest surprise🤔
I gotta check out Captain Blood I love very imaginative games !
Longer vid and a great topic 10/10
Awesome thanks
Guardian War is another interesting JRPG/tactical RPG type deal to check out on the 3DO.
I have to check out Captain Blood, looks amazing!
MIND. BLOWN.
I still have my NES edition of Pirates! My brother and I put probably hundreds of hours into that game when we were at the cottage as kids. good times.
What the hell? That Robot in Mad Stalker literally has Ryus normals. His jumping Punch, Sweep, crouching kick, even a shoryuken
Thanks doc.
Pirates! remains one of my very favorite NES games. The sword-fighting is so smooth. Its only drawback is that it lacks a map!
I rented Warlocked from Blockbuster back in the day when I was a child. It sticks with me to this day because it stood out so much.
As weird as it sounds, Mad Stalker is on my queue to play in the near future. Thanks for the remainder.
That 3do game... looks amazing. I will check it later. Thanks a ton drunk for real.
I have one great game in an unexpected place port of Simpsons arcade for DOS. Really well done port.
@DejaVoodooDoll I actually play it on my DOS emulator on my Nintendo DS. Works amazing.
Man I love Pirates! Would play that any which way I could or at a friend's house in high school
Just throwing this out there, there is a 6 button pad for Pc-engine and Mad Stalker also came out for Pc-engine cd, though you will need an arcade card.
should be worth noting that, much like the original Asuka 120%, Mad Stalker was also ported to the PC Engine CD, a.k.a. the Turbo CD, the Pcc Engine/Turbografx-16 CD add-on
I remember seeing Ross's Game Dungeon talk about Strife. I should probably get to playing it.
I just watch this channel to have a great rest of my day.
Intresting Captain Blood side note....The title music was composed by Jean Michelle Jarre.
Nice to See the ST crop up. Doesn't happen too often outside of the die-hards. The library is definately worth a poke around.
Holy shit, Captain Blood sounds wildly unique! I've never heard of anything like it before, might just have to check it out.
Just few months before I was digging NES collection and I found Pirates!(NES) in deeps. My mind just blowed up how come I didn't play it.It is one off the best game for NES.
you always make me excited to find new roms to play lol thankful he has to play through a ton of crap to recommend the gems for us lol
That song at the end was soo good.
great subject
Ogre Battle could have been so much more.
Having only two buttons and having to alternate between punches and kicks is most definitely a deal-breaker for Street Fighter II...
You can get a 6-button controller for it though!
theguaable It looks like it has even less colors than the Genesis version. Clearly not the best 16bit version of Street Fighter II
The SNES version is probably the best overall.
The PC Engine version does have better sound effects, especially voices, than the Mega Drive/Genesis version.
@@Keith2XS It definitely has more colors than the Genesis version. The PC Engine version has its fans that would say it is the best. Each system's version has things going for it. I actually prefer the Genesis version, then PCE, then SNES.
The weak strikes would be on the Run button, with Select switching between punches and kicks. Using Run as an action button worked well enough under the circumstances. There were two or three good six-button pads available though.
That was a Sega Master System game!? That looked great for its time. And as for the last game, i wish we had more variety like that today.
Good list
PC Engine + 6-button controller + Street Fighter II: Champion Edition = one of the best ports.
3DO also has a surprisingly good Street Fighter II port.
The demo for Strife was on like every PC Gaming magazine’s CD that came bundled with it around that time, but I never found the full retail version in stores.
Pirates! is legendary... insta hack added for my NES Classic years ago now. The likes of Pirates!, SimCity, etc are ideal combos during podcast enjoyment.
Ahhh man build engine and doom engine games are the best. Nice to see a shout out to strife.
Mad Stalker gave me a real 'Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master' vibe.
I sank hours into Ogre Battle 64. Once you understand how to groom units you can easily become overpowered and it is very fun. It can be pretty convoluted just how to do this on your first playthrough , but when I was in high school and had a ton of time to kill that was part of the fun.
I’ve been playing more GB, GBC and GBA games lately. Their libraries are huge and there’s so many good forgotten and unknown games especially for the GBC and GBA
Ogre Battle! Love that game!
Stoked to see Captain Blood getting a shout from the drunk.
I had this on CPC 464 in the 80’s, if you think it’s hard playing it now try it when you’re 8!
SNES Drunk is the highlight of my T-days.
I've played the NES version of Pirates. It's an interesting play, especially dueling.
Great video drunk! Be sure to put Rescue On Fractalus for the 5200 in the next one. It's a perfect fit.
This channel speaks to my 90s kid soul
I literally don't remember a single RPG on N64 so it was definitely interesting to see one on this list
there was some like hybrid heaven paper mario ogre battle
Best channel
ill admit that strife looks impressive considering when it came from ,amazingly I've never seen it on CZcams before
