Showroom tells you absolutely nothing. For example, you said the Suzuki had better brakes. It doesn’t. The master cylinder and the rubber brake lines give it a softer feel than the kawasaki. Name brand doesn’t mean everything. Quality of components does. Actually riding the bikes would have told you more. The Kawasaki is still king
Kawasaki is a fantastic bike, but not sure if it is as reliable as Suzuki though... Where I live, Kawasaki parts are also more expensive than Suzuki. I am undecided as heck between two.
I just bought the Suzuki 2 days ago, and my God, what a bike! I was also torn between the Ninja and Suzuki GT+ but I was attracted to a couple things on the GT over the Ninja: 1. The first is the looks. I like the aggressive Yamaha-style Decepticon look, ergonomics, and seat height as a 5.10 foot 32" inseam individual. It was extremely comfortable and a perfect blend of sport and touring. 2. The second was the pillion. My wife was more comfortable on the GT+ versus the Ninja, which is very uncomfortable after a while. The smoothness of the quickshifter on the GT+ compared to the Ninja makes the ride more seamless for us both. As a reference, I bought this bike a state away, and performed a 400 mile trek on the way back home. It performed flawlessly. No issues whatsoever travelling at near 80 mph constantly for hours. Considering there were probably the worst road conditions (rain, heavy crosswinds) it performed admirably considering how lightweight it is compared to the Ninja. I think the wind protection is better too because the front fairings are designed better in my opinion. The only drawbacks I could ever mention are the cruise control speed isn't shown at what it is set, and the button is on the throttle hand. Personally I turn it on either with my left hand or at a point where i'm rolling off throttle. It's not a big deal just very minor inconvenience. The second thing is something I don't care about, but yes there is no IMU. I think unless you're a track racer, this doesn't matter at all. Bike is a bike, and I got the GT+ for an absolute steal considering it has all the points I wanted and almost no drawbacks for me. These were just my thoughts and decisions in choosing the GT+ and it's probably my forever bike.
Definitely a matter of taste. They are the only 2 bikes in that category that have very similar stats, including ergonomics. I bought 2 ninja 1000sx, one for me and the other for my wife, just 1 month ago. We are loving everything about the ninja, particularly the power and comfort. I'm sure you will be happy with your purchase. Im glad these 2 options exist. Ride safe!
Hi, I thought about getting the Kawasaki z1000sx I really liked the bike I also test road it. I then went to my Suzuki dealer and test road the Suzuki gsxs1000gt I had my heart set on the ninja but when I saw the Suzuki in Black I really liked it. I bought the Suzuki but it was a tough choice. the Suzuki dealer also gave me a better price for my old bike.
You made the right decision, I too considered both the Kawasaki 1000 SX vs the Suzuki GSX S 1000 GT Plus. I also researched them both and also found the Suzuki GSX S 1000 GT Plus to be the best value , and best looking as well as the better bike of them both . The best bang for the dollar. I also compared the Yamaha Tracer 900 gt plus as well and found it to have too much Technology in it and not as sleek either.
I don't think you can go wrong with either of these high quality bikes. It's almost impossible to compare the performance and feel of these two bikes without first riding them but if that's not possible go with what excites you the most.
I am torn. I love the fresher look and more power from the Suzuki but I hear the Kawi is more refined. I think I will take the rawness of the Suzuki for the looks and power!
Hey Brother. I, personally, would go with the Suzuki. It has bags and is set up for some short sport touring rides out of the dealership. I have owned a few Suzukis and all of them have been great bikes. I did not like my Suzuki TL1000S for its handling was "twitchy", but I rode that one when I was 59 years old. So, even as an "old dude" sport bikes were still in my garage. The motor on that TL was a good blend of torque and HP. I had a blast on my M109R, but it had a problem with my right wrist. Yep, I liked to "Grip it and Rip it" with that 109... My first big bike was a Kawasaki KZ900 back in 1976. Bought it off the show room floor when I got back from my first (of 3) tour from Korea. So, like you, I have a soft spot for Kawasakis... Really brother, all bikes these days are good, even the Royal Enfield holds up and so do all the British bikes. I just would not buy Chinese scooters!
hey brother - did not know you did 3 tours - thanks for your Service !!! yes agree with you totally - will keep on riding sports bike as long as i can - they are so much fun - good to hear from you - safe riding dude
I went from the Ninja 1000sx to the Suzuki GT. The Suzuki is so much better, less rider aids so it's more of a riders bike. The wooden brake, ignore what people say. It's not true. It's a perfectly adequate break. If you really want to upgrade it, just put some braided hoses on and it's absolutely fine. This seems to be the only thing that people moan about is the wooden break. This is all because I keep hearing it on social media. Don't get me wrong. The Kawasaki is still a good bike, but the Suzuki just thrashes it.
The Suzuki might look as though it has more tech with the better TFT etc but the Kawasaki has an IMU so is still ahead. Plus that torquey motor on the Kawasaki would be the better road bike. Can't comment on wind protection unless it has been ridden back to back
I have ridden neither bike. But every "review" I've watched between the two bikes (both of them are fantastic), is that the Suzuki wins in the motor department.
Just picked mine up Saturday in cheyenne WY and rode it all the way to bismark ND for its first service.. spent a few hours in the black hills and it performed flawlessly. Rear end is a bit sore from not riding at all this year but so far I love the thing. Guess my only complaint so far is that the phone screen has to be on for the myspin app to work. Hopefully they update that soon.
Thinking about the Suzuki. I think it is better looking. I'm getting old and I can't get on my GS without putting on a show. When the spring comes I have some decisions to make. Between those two the Suzuki is the leader.
Interesting point about difference in prep fees among brands. I hadn’t thought of that. I’m told Suzuki service parts and shipping rates are also cheaper. So many things go into the cost of a bike beyond the sticker price. How many parts will you upgrade or tweaks needed to make it right for you. I wish Japanese manufacturers put better tires, master cylinder and steel braided lines stock. Mandatory costs and hassles that could easily be avoided. BTW, is that East Bay Motorsports? I came to see the exact same bike on the floor.
The GT is the better bike.Swap out the pads and rubber brake lines it is very balanced for the price. It sounds nice too. Also of note it is a real 150hp.
Actually the ninja has better wind protection, better refine and finishing. Edit: Actually, the Kawi brakes are better than the Suzuki. Don't let the Brembo name fool you.
Keep in mind that even though the zuke makes a little more power it is only more ABOVE 10,000 rpm. I’ve seen both bikes dyno side by side and the Kawasaki makes more power all the way up to that point!
There are no wrong decisions with buying bikes .... except yours :-) Only kidding, but I would strongly recommend checking out Michael Neeves comparison of these bikes where he absolutely nails it I have had the SX for 2 years now and whilst I've only covered about 10k miles(thanks covid), it really is time for me to move on So I test rode the Suzuki ... twice for best part of half a day. Overall feeling was that the GSXF was the 2 year old tired bike, whilst the Ninja feels polished, smooth, and well... newer. Mind you riding back from the dealer, kept thinking how small the dash looked .. but that soon gets forgotted. To sum up, the Kawasaki comes across as a bike that's been around for some time and perfected over time. The Suzuki, smacks of desperation (and lets face it, Suzuki really do appear to have lost the plot), and said, give me a copy of the Ninja and Tracer as cheap as possible.
Sorry, I know it's a matter of taste, but couldn't disagree more. IMO the Suzuki is butt ass ugly. It's that front end! Those LEDS look like beady little eyes. Like a crab face. I use to love R1's but if the new ones look like that then they are butt ass ugly too. I can't believe you picked the Suzuki because you liked that front end! It;s the worst part, Sorry. To me the Ninja looks almost perfect except for the swing arm and exhaust. Still better than that crab head, t
Codswallop. Ride Testing decides. Suzi is the better on the crucials and that should decide it. Not what it looks like in Show. Suzi in the blue is the Claudia Schiffer of Bikes. Keep it clean boys.....

What are your thoughts after 9 months?
I’m a Kawasaki guy too, but I do like the looks of the Suzuki better

Not wrong at all! I took delivery of my GT 4 days ago. The Suzuki has the looks, street designed power and comfort.

I really like the Suzuki. I only wish they sold the brighter blue here in the U.S. Suzuki availability is definitely better at the moment.
They’re selling the Triton blue now.
I am torn. I love the fresher look and more power from the Suzuki but I hear the Kawi is more refined. I think I will take the rawness of the Suzuki for the looks and power!
I wish other brands would step into this class of bike to get a bigger variety of options

I will keep that advice I'm mind. Thanks.
Yeah dude but mcn says the ninja feels more refined… i own a 2021 sx, and it does feel buttery smooth
Nice Video 🔥
Thumbs up and keep it up

wow thats a hell of a ride - how is the windscreen protection at highway speed given your height ?

Suzuki K5 engine is bullet proof
I find that the Suzuki looks better also. However, reviews are saying the ninja is more on everything except horsepower and the TFT.
The funny thing that the dealership committed is, to put the 1000GT and R1 side by side sharing the similar colors, similar headlight design.
😂
Susuki all dayyy !!!!!! I own one and it’s a dream come true so happy I didn’t get the Kawasaki
Interesting point about difference in prep fees among brands. I hadn’t thought of that.

yes it is - i think its sold now
I love the look of Suzuki but i hate the 1 running headlight look. They need to have both lights on
Agreed!! Having just one light on will give the oinks an excuse to detain and waste your time on the side of the road
The GT is the better bike.Swap out the pads and rubber brake lines it is very balanced for the price. It sounds nice too. Also of note it is a real 150hp.
Kawasaki all day long looks 100% better rides like a dream I often do 200 miles plus on rides
Actually the ninja has better wind protection, better refine and finishing.
