Dude; as a 50-year rider from NY and semi-pro moto-journalist, I have to say this is one of the BEST "review" videos I have ever seen. Not only were you cool and goofy-relaxed, as I would try to be... your descriptions of the two bikes was honest, thoughfully-explained ...and huge. THANKS
The English motorcycle channels are just outstanding. You guys know how to properly review a motorcycle. Americans seem to talk about the buttons and the seat and then they read the specifications. They just don't give you an accurate account of the bike. Especially the ex-racers who now do streetbike reviews. There's nothing more inaccurate than a professional racer trying to review a street bike.
Thanks for watching ! I guess we all like to take and present our information differently . I try and make reviews that are like the ones I want to watch and rarely use GO PRO as I feel they can be more about the rider than the bike but we are all different 👍 Glad you enjoyed it . It is a great bike and I am hoping mine arrives in mid April 🤞
Thank you for another great in-depth review. It's also great to listen to someone who's not yelling through his GoPro while riding in the wind like most of the other youtubers are doing.
I also don't understand why those mouth breathers think I want to look at the road when watching a bike review. The bike should be the star of the show.
Planning to buy either this Suzuki or the Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx, will be interested in your comparison and that of your pillion as well. It's pleasing to see proper sports tourers making a come back. Looking forward to your next installments!
I did try one before committing to the Suzuki . Sadly I didnt have it long enough to film but hopefully will get one to film in the early summer . In short the sx was plusher , smoother and more refined but a bit bigger too, which didn't suit me or my wife . In one sentence ? The SX is a tourer that is sporty , the GT is a sports bike you can tour on. Have fun choosing 👍
I mounted a set of Hepco Becker panniers, bar risers, a touring screen, and a Saddlemen seat on my 2019 F model. The bike becomes a superb tourer with these few changes, and I find it extremely hard to justify the cost of trading it for a GT.
That is actually the GSX-S1000 GT Plus here in the USA with the panniers. GT without the panniers. Unfortunately we don't get that Triton blue color with blue wheels here, only the darker blue with black wheels and all black only. I have ridden the Ninja 1000SX and Ninja H2 SX SE+ . The electronic suspension on the H2 SX SE+ does make a difference in ride quality and it even has a centerstand which should be standard on all chain driven sports tourers. As for engine smoothness, I find that a K&N air filter spreads the power out in sportbike engines compared to the original stock air filter, and full synthetic oils like Mobil 1, Castro Power 1, and Motul 300V makes the engine run super smooth and cooler running. That might help the GSX1000F. If not, then a ECU flash would certainly fix it.
Thank you for the great review, I have ordered one, dealer said april timeframe here in the US, will be coming off a yamaha tracer 900gt which has been a very good bike....
As a fellow GSX-S1000F owner, I really fancy one of these as it seems to have sorted the main issues of the bike. Cruise control/phone integration is a real boon on a long journey (I used to have a 2016 GS). I'm with you about the rear shock. I find the forks OK. My take on this bike is that it is a SPORTY tourer.
Hi Conkerman . I view the GT as a sports bike that you can tour on and the the Kawasaki is a tourer that is sporty . The GT retains that "edgy" , sharpness that Suzuki are so good at whilst the Kawasaki is a plusher , smoother and easier bike that goes very well, if you ask. To me, mode B on the Suzuki felt like A on the Kawasaki . That said both bikes are far faster than I am! 😂
Another good honest review of this bike . I like it when people actually find faults as no bike is perfect . This style is not for me and I find it’s looks a little uninspiring…and the fairing and end can verging on ugly . however I’m sure it’s very capable bike and could tour easily .
Hi Andy . Hope you are well . I try to be objective and recognise that whilst all bikes have their virtues , none are perfect . It doesn’t worry me that bikes I like - otherwise why buy them - have flaws . I just try and ride them to their strengths . I agree , I think the GT would tour well . Looking forward to catching up at a Z meet 👍
Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone! I ordered one and am so excited for it to come to the motorcycle dealer! Your review just got me excited more! Thanks a lot!
Good video and english humor hehe!! It really is what I expected...a general assessment without conditioning the brand as usual. I think that more than Gran Turismo it is a Sport Turismo. It brings back the memory of my veteran CBF1000F "without ABS" and a 160 rear tire weighing 242kg, but with a low center of gravity that made it an agile machine for urban use and it was possible to travel in relative comfort. (let's think it was a very veteran model). There are certain analogies between them, saving the differences of technical and mechanical advances, of course. There are some aspects that Suzi doesn't have... Dome adjustable in height, passenger seat / a somewhat small surface and perhaps the night lighting somewhat scarce from what I have been able to read in some test. They are essential conditions to travel. The rubber footrests are not a novel contribution, CBF already had them. For the rest, it seems that it adjusts to what the machine is focused on. A manual remote adjustment of the rear shock absorber would not have been practically more expensive, as well as the rest that I mention and would have provided a very important plus to take into account. Thank you for your video that I found very complete and enjoyable. Regards🤩 (Google translator text)
Thank you for watching and finding the time to make such informed observations . I continue to enjoy the “GT” . Looking forward to some bigger trips this year . .. .
Thanks Michael. Very interesting (and comprehensive). My friend has just bought the Suzuki because he wants to long distance tour to foreign circuits then take the paniers off and ride the tracks. Looks like his decision is vindicated.
Another great MAM journal on what seems to be an excellent new model from Suzuki. It is also a very good looking bike in my opinion. I love the standard end can together with the sharp front end. 👍😀
Be nice to hear what you’ve got to say about the equivalent Kawasaki Ninja 1000 sx with its adaptive cruise control etc. overall another in-depth independent review as always. Looking forward to seeing you at the Stratton Arms Z900rs meet in June. 👍
Thanks Gary . I have tried the Ninja , in order to make my mind up . Sadly I didn’t have the bike long enough to do a proper MAM review but they are both very good bikes and the GT edged it for me . 👍
Thanks very interesting, I also am looking at this bike for touring. I need to have a demo ride first. I would have liked to have seen the GT with the luggage off the bike, so I could see how the luggage is held on. On some bikes when the luggage is off the bike it makes the bike look awful. Great review I look forward to you getting one and providing a riders review.
Another excellent review and comparison. 👍 I like the look of that GT over the Kawasaki offering but I prefer the look of your GSXF. 😉A hydraulic preload adjuster is a must on a bike like that and it wouldn't cost manufacturers much more to include them, could be a deal breaker for me as they are not a cheap aftermarket upgrade. 🙄
Always good to hear from you . I have actually priced up a full Nitron rear shock with preload and included , it comes to the same money as the performance pack Kawasaki . Reflecting on which way I go as I type ! Thank you for watching !
Interesting stuff.... How the litre class has changed. I am from the days when people struggled all year, commuting on a GSX-R1100 or FJ100 or VF1000, just so they could do Le Havre to the Bol d'Or quickly..... And get home quickly. Memories of queues of GB-registered machines on the tarmac at the ferry terminal..... This is quite a change. Probably a change for the better..... Although I imagine that these things rarely get used now for mad, flat-out runs to the Riviera. More's the pity. Nice video on what looks a nice bike (for a modern).
Hi Just passed MOD2 early this month and on an SV650. Head is already being turned by this bike, but common sense must prevail and get a year or so experience under my belt before I let my head dictate. Really surprised at your subscriber numbers given the quality. No doubt that will grow. Regards. Den
Thank you for watching Denis . Glad you enjoyed it . I have only been making the videos for 11 months . I make them for fun and if others enjoy them , thats great 👍
Yes, the fueling on many new bikes has been awful. My 2014 Suzuki V Strom had that problem. Spent $1,000 getting that sorted and it is turbine smooth now. Shifts better too! That GSX is a real lump, think a yam 900 triple would suit me more.
Thanks Michael for yet another very interesting and enjoyable video. I must admit I was wondering where you were going when you metioned Juke Box Jury. I thought you were going to reference the old Cafe Racer past time of sticking a record on and then jumping on your bike to try to complete a certain course before it had finished. 🙂. Incidentally with the 75% overseas viewers in mind I thought I'd check to see if there were any clips of the programme on You Tube. There are with the consequence that I have, of course just been divereted for half an hour wandering down memory lane. The first one I came across was |Pinky and Perky! How tines have changed!!
😂 Good to hear from you ! I had the bike for 3 hours which is tight to do an intro , walk round , photo shoot and get a 100 miles on the bike . As we were making it I thought I have to make my mind up quickly “is this bike a hit or a miss ?” ….it was only latter I wondered where that phrase had come from . A very young childhood memory . It worked for me and clarified my view . I will do another review on the bike in September once we have put some miles on it and a few trips 👍
Great in depth review for such a short ride. I was especially excited about the comparison to the F model before. I would plan to flash the ecu if I purchased either, so the snatchy-ness of the throttle doesn't scare me. I believe the F is an acquired taste, but find it quite unique and very VERY Japanese. You've sold another gsxs either way someone goes after this video. 👍🏽
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment . I have done over 2000 miles on my GT now . Factory ECU is good 👍 Here is my 900 mile review ..czcams.com/video/bM9Rdgdo05U/video.html
MY MAJOR CONCERN: Those tiny headlights! Just because they are LED bright does NOT mean they will be seen. ESPECIALLY by the huge population of DEER now in the US Northeast. We need VOLUME
Great review, I've test rode the GT although not 100% perfect bike ( no bike is) it's not far off and I would definitely have one. I did get little brief vibration through seat at 5000revs on motorway so want to do a longer test ride than 40 minutes.
I'm thinking of getting the gsxs1000f or the gsx1000gt or the Kawasaki 1000sx. I can't make up my mind up I will have to test ride them all maybe your video's will help me decide also. Great video!
Thank you . New video out next Friday covering how I have got on , 900 miles in . I have had an F which is a good bike but feel the GT is a significant step forward . Tried the SX before committing to the GT and funnily enough have ridden one again today . Nice , well sorted bike . The latest ones are , physically quite a bit bigger than the GT but very smooth and refined . GT has got a bit more performance . The B mode is more like the SX A mode . Both very good bikes . Down to personal preference ..
@@michaelmam I test road both bikes and I totally agree with you. I bought the Suzuki gsxs1000gt although it was a close decision the Kawasaki z1000sx is also a nice bike.
Firstly, good review on what looks like a great machine. Secondly and more importantly.. Cracking picture of our Lord and master... Joey... Nuff said...
Perfectly made video. :) Appreciate it. I am very interested in the new GT. Have to see in person. Thanks for sharing this. p.s. Drop by, if you have time.
Thank you Jon . Glad you enjoyed it . We bought one and I have just listed the 900 mile review … if you are interested . czcams.com/video/bM9Rdgdo05U/video.html
Im looking forward to your opinion on the Kawasaki ninja 1000SX! Regarding the IMU I hope suzuki will add that for next year model! Also kawasaki has more adjustment on the rear shock i think.
Thank you for uploading another excellent review. You mentioned in your review that you had bought a Hayabusa gen 3 and then spoke about it in the past tense ie “it had” instead of the present ie “it has”! In your review of the Hayabusa gen 3 you said that you must give it back reluctantly. I am confused!
I had to give the demonstrator back but I bought , and still have one in my garage . Hope this clarifies . Thank you for watching and being so attentive !! .
Hi Michael, thanks for your first impressions on the GT. I don't know, if your wife also tested the pillon sear position on the GT and can compare it to the Hayabusa Gen3, but this is what I would be interested in. I had the first GSX-S 1000 and my wife didn't like the passangers position on it which is / was understandable to me as we still have also the GSX1400 which is compare a sofa. But my wife accepted also the Busa Gen2 back seat when I've lowered the foot pegs. Now since last year I've the Gen3 and here the backseat is acceptable without any change (I've lowered the peg position for me as the rider). So can you (your wife) compare the GT with the Gen3 passangers seat position?
Hi Thomas , we have been out in the garage again and my wife's view is that the seat on the gen 3 is fine and easy to get on/off but that she is higher/ further away from me as a result of the more forward riding position for me , on the Busa. The GT has a more upright riding position. 👍
Hi Michael, Nice review - the details are appreciated. When you do the comparison with the Ninja, please dig into the comparative ergonomics. I'm curious as to which bike is the roomier of the two, particularly when it comes to legroom (I'm 6'2"). Thanks!
Thanks Steven . The Ninja is a bigger bike all round . An inch taller than the GT but actually feels like more as the seat feels about an inch and a half wider . At 5’8” the Ninja felt too big for me ( 2 up) . The tank height is higher too so I felt I would be peering over a tank bag to read the separate sat nav required ? A bike for a bigger person so might suit you ? Technology and handle bar accessibility equally good on both . Have fun trying them ? Both great bikes 👍
Great to hear from you ! I went with a rode microphone and an old fashioned cable . Tried a blue tooth solution but it dropped out a couple of times mid filming and I thought cable would be “safer” . I still have the option of both . 👍
Hi Michael. Three months on I'm wondering. Did you ever get to test the Ninja? I'm in the position of considering getting a sports tourer and am currently tending towards the Kawasaki and would be interested in your thoughts. Thanks.
Hi ! Good to hear from you . I have tried the Kawasaki but haven’t had one long enough to film it . I went for the Suzuki which actually arrived at the dealer this week and is currently with Nitron having some suspension fitted . I want a remote hydraulic preload adjuster and felt the standard rear was a little too basic for what I like . As I have said before I think the Kawasaki is a very well sorted , smooth bike that is very capable . A tourer that is sporty . The Suzuki is a sports bike that can tour . A bit more edgy and with a little more power and urgency. The Suzuki is a smaller bike and lower which I like and personally I found the Kawasaki a bit big , with a higher tank . Not sure I would have good vision of the instruments with a tank bag on - neither company advocate the fitting of top boxes as they are concerned about high speed weight stability but I see aftermarket boxes are available . Probably more of a legal product liability issue than a real world problem ? Personally I tried both and went Suzuki but a close call . Hopefully you can do the same . I will ask Kawasaki whether I can borrow one again and film it 👍
Thanks for watching PG . I am certainly no expert on aerodynamics but in terms of buffeting and wind noise - the two things I can comment on - I found that the GT was better . Hope this helps . 👍
I know that Kawasaki don’t officially encourage top box fitting with their 1000 sports tourer but Givi make them . I suspect they will be fast off the mark with a GT offering 👍
Great review! Is that a USB port with a rubber weather cap on the left side of the dash? I am seriously considering this bike. Good to know that the seat height will be identical for me as it is for you.
Thank you foryourvideo and i learned a lot can i konw your body size? and when you drove long time did you have pain in your hip thanks and drive safely
@@michaelmam good for Suzuki for for. I think it shows that the market wants more sports tourer options. I'm sure I'm not alone in just not being into the ADV style tourers that have overtaken tge market. I know they are good bikes, they just don't have the curb appeal I want in a bike.
Love this bike! It needs to have a tail rack like the V-Strom though for more storage/luggage options. I also have to say, you guys have the worst license plates in the world! lol.
It is a great bike Kris . The bike is probably just too fast to have weight behind the back wheel . I am sure it is fine at “legalish” speeds but flat out on an autobahn it might get a bit lively ? Thank you for watching !
@@michaelmam True AND, something I didn't think of for the safety aspect of the full throttle experience. Thanks for making the video and looking forward to a full review if/when you get your hands on one again. Ride safe!
Both great bikes . The SX is smoother , with a plush ride . The GT is more of a sports bike , that you can tour on . It is also a slightly smaller bike . I went for the GT . 👍
#2 - SADDLE BAGS SUCK. I come from a time and era where "saddlebags" were for old crusty Harleys. NO ONE with any sort of Sporty bike from 1970 would be caught dead with saddlebags of any kind. I'm still in that school. I've toured in 13 countries and across the US numerous times, and I hate "saddlebags". I vastly prefer to have the weight in a cylinder behind me... rear seat/rack, with versatile bungees. 50 years / 400,000 miles.
In 89 I rode from San Diego, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Banff, Vancouver, Seattle and back down PCH. Camping and motels, friends using soft bags. They sucked in the rain. 89 ZX10, 57 year rider 1 million miles, have 22 N1K SX on order. Going cross country again this May. Hope to see you.

Great bikes no doubt but I'm coming to the conclusion that there is no need for all this power and definitely no need for half the tech and tft bs on bikes now, good suspension brakes lights riding position etc are what really matter, the public road is no place to explore what 150 bhp can do on a 200 kg bike.

Great review, looking forward to the comparison to the Kawasaki sx.
Thank you Andrew . Glad you enjoyed it . I have just posted my 900 mile in review if you are interested …czcams.com/video/bM9Rdgdo05U/video.html
most enjoyable and informative, well presented, thank you.
Pleasure . Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I missed that the GT has rebound adjustment on the rear shock . Apologies !
Nice video and Suzuki Mate
Firstly, good review on what looks like a great machine. Secondly and more importantly.. Cracking picture of our Lord and master... Joey...
Nuff said...
Perfectly made video. :) Appreciate it. I am very interested in the new GT. Have to see in person. Thanks for sharing this.
p.s. Drop by, if you have time.
Awesome review Michael MAM 😁
Thank you for watching and being so attentive !! .
nice
thank you
Hi Michael, thanks for your first impressions on the GT.
Leave it with me Thomas ..
Hi Thomas , we have been out in the garage again and my wife's view is that the seat on the gen 3 is fine and easy to get on/off but that she is higher/ further away from me as a result of the more forward riding position for me , on the Busa. The GT has a more upright riding position. 👍
Hi Michael,
Nice review - the details are appreciated.
@@michaelmam Thanks Michael - good advice. And keep up the great reviews!
Sounds great! Which audio mic setup did you go with?
Great to hear from you ! I went with a rode microphone and an old fashioned cable . Tried a blue tooth solution but it dropped out a couple of times mid filming and I thought cable would be “safer” . I still have the option of both . 👍
Nice suzuki
I will ask Kawasaki whether I can borrow one again and film it 👍
- KATANA'S same exhaust , swing arm , brembos , aluminum frame ...
Thank you but how bout the most intentional and relevant difference between the two - the aerodynamics?
Thanks for watching PG . I am certainly no expert on aerodynamics but in terms of buffeting and wind noise - the two things I can comment on - I found that the GT was better . Hope this helps . 👍
You mentioned after market luggage etc, can you recommend suppliers. Thanks.
I know that Kawasaki don’t officially encourage top box fitting with their 1000 sports tourer but Givi make them . I suspect they will be fast off the mark with a GT offering 👍
@@michaelmam Thanks I expect the big suppliers will issue gear soon. Good review. 👍
Great review! Is that a USB port with a rubber weather cap on the left side of the dash? I am seriously considering this bike. Good to know that the seat height will be identical for me as it is for you.
Hi Tony .yes . Well spotted . Single point USB on the left 👍
Thank you foryourvideo
and i learned a lot
can i konw your body size?
and when you drove long time
did you have pain in your hip
thanks and drive safely
I found the bike very comfortable and it “fitted” me well . I am 1.72 metres tall.

holy shit every one of these vids involves rain. is that all it does over there ?
😂 mostly . The rain gets warmer in the summer 👍
@@michaelmam lol
@@michaelmam😂
I'd like to have a look at one of these, but man are they hard to come by in Australia. The entire years allocation is sold out.
That is a shame but probably a good sign . Maybe next year ?
Ride safe!
@@Reboot12345678910 I have enjoyed making them and glad you enjoyed it . I have confirmed my order for the GT . 🤞 for April …
@@michaelmam Nice... looking forward to it!
Vs Kawasaki Z1000SX, who wins?
Both great bikes . The SX is smoother , with a plush ride . The GT is more of a sports bike , that you can tour on . It is also a slightly smaller bike . I went for the GT . 👍
👏👏👏👏👏
Is that joey dunlop in the photo
Well spotted . Yes . I have a SP1 , which I bought new in 2001 .👍
where is the review while riding the bike?
Wait for the Honda NT1100 before your final decision.
Sure it will be a good bike but specifically looking for a higher power 4 cylinder . I have a twin GS already .👍
Needs a V4, loved my VFR, always thought Honda has missed the boat on a Liter bike, without VTEC and linked brakes. The 1200 is gaudy looking to me.
I like that color!
@@stevensullivan5287 You're a HERO, Steve! Yep, me too, hoping to make the Big Trek NY-CA-Return once again this Spring, this time on my "new", cherry, 08 FJR. Hope to see you indeed

Great bikes no doubt but I'm coming to the conclusion that there is no need for all this power and definitely no need for half the tech and tft bs on bikes now,
good suspension brakes lights riding position etc are what really matter, the public road is no place to explore what 150 bhp can do on a 200 kg bike.
fuck man turn it on and ride it
😂 . I know what you mean . There are plenty of videos of riders proving how fast they are . I am offering an alternative approach . If its not for you that is ok . Have fun . It is a sports bike that you can tour on . 👍
- same engine as the KATANA ... . with some mods...
