    I've had this bike for 2 months or so and it's a peach. Nice and smooth riding, and if you twist the throttle harder it will set your world on fire. Props to Suzuki for making a bike that's all about that riding pleasure without being overly fancy.

    Keep the throttle pinned when you kick up the gearbox with the QS. It is smoother that way. Downshifting, just kick it down like on a MX bike and it is really great with the slipper clutch doing its work without disturbing the stability of the bike. I have this bike and you need to ride it like you stole it!

    • @blackspades0000
      @blackspades0000 Před rokem +1

      I personally, after having rode a bike with a quick shifter, can't see the need for it. Using the quick shifter can be a tricky, unreliable process. I find using a clutch to be very smooth and natural.

      @-robster-robster- A lot of people rave about having a quick shifter. I have the hayabusa, which has it up and down but I can take it or leave it. The technology that really impresses me is ABS and traction control.

    Thanks for your review. I have been considering one of these to replace my very heavy BMW K1200RS, so must take one for a ride as I am not a fan of twins, preferring the smoothness of a 4 cyl. My wife rides an R9T, but I can’t adjust to it. Greetings from NZ.

    Another great review! I was going to buy one of these but they are in short supply (none) here in the US. I noticed the closest BMW dealer had a new inbound R1250RS so I snagged that one and have been riding it for 3 months. I know it's been 5 years since your 1200RS review but can you comment on how the Suzuki compares to the RS?

    Nice looking bike, 18k though? My 2020 Speed Triple RS was "only" 13k and has the same power as this bike (RS has more torque) and full Ohlins adjustable suspension, Brembo M4 brakes, Arrow cans, cruise control, quickshifter, heated grips. All fitted as standard.

    I'll be getting the touring screen once it becomes available, it's taller and a bit wider. I'm 6'2", so it will suit me better. Even for Puig, it's listed as "under development" on their site. Here in the US, the GT+ model is sold without the side bags and are shipped out to dealers as they become available for dealer installation, fully keyed by VIN for each unit. Still waiting patiently after a month for delivery.

We have had them for nearly three years and they are brilliant for a flip-up. Great wide visor and comfortable. Consider a larger size than your normal size if you get one. One item I'm concerned about is the tiny headlights. My riding area has far too many DEER, in addition to distracted drivers... and one tiny pin-prick of light, no matter how bright, is likely to go unnoticed by either.

    • @toddlower5546
      @toddlower5546 Před rokem

      It paints the same light as any other headlight I've had. Just looks different when you are looking at the bike during the day.

  • @ReferenceFidelityComponents

    Looks very similar to an R1250RS riding position but with less seat room? Pillion looks perched quite high and with that screen I guess it’d benefit from an mra x flow spoiler on the screen. After owning many IL4 bikes the best IL4 tourer I had remains an FJ1100 oddly followed by an RRT fireblade which Was very comfy. The GT isn’t for me despite being a decent looking bike. For a tourer I’d prefer an RT or RS. Just gravitate to the balance and torque of a big boxer. Any IL4 I’ve owned lacked character but that Suzi would likely be bomb proof and more reliable than a beemer loner term. Great lights compared with my RS. I like the looks and styling. Lots to like about it. It would make a great second bike for me. I’ll just tell the wife, from a distance😂

    A vehicle should not be relying on your phone for satnav. It should be built in. I've had nothing but trouble with BMW's implementation of this idea on the RT. I'm assuming you needed to install a Suzuki App. That software should be on the bike.
    RT owners' experiences seem, from comments I've read, to be very dependent on the phone they have. Expect to budget at least an extra £500 overall to afford an upgrade if you don't already have the latest and greatest. I'm curious as to whether Suzuki publish a compatibility list.
    If BMW can't get it right on a £20k bike, it'll be interesting to see how this pans out for this GT. So, all griping aside, I have some genuine questions:
    How much of a faff is it to get the phone connected at the start of each ride?
    Can you plot a route on the bike screen, or do you need to do that on the phone?
    Is there a waterproof compartment to charge the phone in?

    • @blandrooker6541
      @blandrooker6541 Před rokem +1

      As long as you have an iPhone, once you turn the key MySpin connects to the phone automatically and you're off. If you have an Android phone like I do, MySpin never connects, as it gets stuck trying to establish a connection via wireless LAN. My solution is I just bought a phone mount so I can run Google Maps. Other than that, I'm enjoying my bike immensely.

    • @allanschuh6797
      @allanschuh6797 Před rokem

      My android always connects. It's far from perfect tho. If the screen times out it loses connection to my spin and I find that pretty irritating. Once I get a tank bag and plug it in it should solve this but as of now I'm not even bothering to use it.
