About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Thanks for part 5 of the epic live-stream of the drive home to New York. Our heroes arrived at Buc-ee’s in Saint Agustin’s while dealing with dead bugs on the windshield and a storm on the horizon that promises to accompany them on their trip home. As Karla entered the store with Hudson , we get more buffering but they keep on with Hudson already looking at a duck toy and smelling the food that is being made in the place. Karla notices that the bathroom is closed in the store, which she finds odd. She then sees Halloween t -shirt’s on display and gets one plus the duck toy for Hudson. By the time she was at the cash register, she sees that the rain is coming down hard, so she pays for her things and is about to leave but she does not find James until she sees him waving at her and asked him to drive and pick her up. As he arrived, Karla makes a run to the car and gets in. They then go and get gas and Karla shows James what she brought at the store. Hudson new toy is named the “Rubber Ducky Bucee”. There is more buffering cause of the storm. David Jasper gave them $30 for the gas and the toy. As they left, Karla tells James about not having a working bathroom at the store. Karla wants to complain to the Buc-ee’s corporate office about the bathroom and not only not getting a recipe for the gas but not having window cleaner at the gas station as well. They then ask the chat if they were another way around Jacksonville traffic cause of the storm, which is causing heavy technical difficulties, so much so that they had to end the live-stream again.
