- Yet another follow-up video from the main video a few days ago. Discovered new functionality within the Google maps here in the MY22 V90 Cross Country
Great video! You might find it interesting that here in the US, Volvo is advertising the new XC60 with the Google infotainment system and other upgrades as the "smart car."
Thanks for the follow up and good to know at least for the first journey you can input by text. Still think the adding of a second or additional destination only by voice is discriminatory and short sighted.
I will share a little walk around of my XC60 r design pro when it turns up in September as whilst that's still some time away I doubt there will be many out in the wild even by then

I wonder if you can make an itinerary on your phone and then sent it to the car. Because if you are connected with your account it should be possible as everything synchronize.
If you lose an internet connection does the navigation map stop working?
I think the drivers display looks like a toy. Totally disappointed. Can we have a proper circular speedometer please? Take a look in the new Mercedes C-klass for instance. It has a much nicer layout. I must say Volvo took a wrong turn getting in bed with Google. Unless they come with a huge update with improved functionality and proper speedometer and tachometer this will most likely stop me from buying a new Volvo.
Thank you kris. I have since 20 days a xc 60 inscription mild hybrid b4 awd. Before i had a xc 60 2018 with sensus. The new car is big mess. About google map i cannot find the normal option fastest road or shortest road. No option. About Phone the system cannot find many of my names in my list. I cannot call my wife, or home or other numbers . About Radio i receive the traffic alert info only in german language and only relative to Swiss but i live in italy. Nobody knows how to solve it. About TA it should be updated in automatic after 4 hours but it doesn't work. About usb pen drive the system cannot recognize the pen drive but i have solved it using an app audiowagon and then you can use the pen drive. About parking , normally the beep sound continue during the night and the day after while i'm driving and the the way is to push the home bottom for 20 seconds to restart all. Every day. The phone is often disconnetted. The emergency rear brake works even if there is not any ostacle . It is a crazy brake. The pilot assist/ acc/ speed limiter can be selected by the central display , then the display says to use the 2 buttons on the steering wheels but the 2 buttons are not connected! So it is dangerous. And moreover sometime the pilot assist disappears without any reason while you are in a motorway. If you are in a queue , and the pilot assist stop the car for 1 second, the car cannot restart automatically when the traffic in front of you is free. It doesn't work. About the app volvo car , you can only open/ close doors and only start the engine but you cannot to refresh or warm the car. But on the contrary the app says that you could start your cooling or warming air conditioning and to decide even the temperature, but this is not the true. It doesn't work. About apple car it should have been wireless but it will arrive in after market only by wire and maybe during the second part of 2022. About volvo car alarm the instruction says that you can have the private locking for trunk or the small gloves drawer, with a personal pin , but also this is not the true. The advertisment is wrong. This is not the smartest car but is the worse car. It seems that volvo has a worldwide problem and nobody knows if and when they will have a solution.

When you navigate with Google Maps and you want to add a location you simply search for what you want and add as the next stop before your final destination. If you hit search does it let you type?

Are there other major changes in auto pilot or performance with the new engine?
@@asafisraelit Not regards to engine. But the cars with the Android infotainment have upgraded ACC. And it will automatically brake the car down to a standstill if you doesn't take the steering wheel. When the ACC with Pilot Assist are activated
Hey! May I ask what's the software version you've got?
My Sensus system in my previous Volvo (XC60) displayed speeds traps and made a camera sound once you were close to one. The Google maps system in my new XC40 P8 seems to lack this functionality, or at least I cannot find it. Maybe the Google guys want us to be all brave citizens? Actually I think indicating places where you really should not be speeding could help traffic safety….
The new IOS app is terrible compared to the old one, tons of functionality are missing, ( you can only start the heater, see the charging status an lock the doors) Volvo promises us updates… but when ?
Another really annoying thing is that the chairsettings do not respond to the key anymore (my chair settings for my key and different settings for my wife’s).

Since the change to Google is there still an ability to use the Volvo cars app on mobile ? Has a new version been created for android based cars? I have an 18 XC40 often find it easier to do the searching in the Volvo cars app and then send the journey to the car!
Yes a new app has been created. However it's currently just a beta version. So just some functionality.
At 5:39, heave you tried tapping and typing into the top bar where it says ‘search for destinations’?
My greetings. What about "Rutealternativer" button in changing and adding points to waypoints? It's not working the way You are talking? And one more question, Main! , what about Drive modes?.and sound equaliser on Harman. They really remove this function? Oo I'm just looking for xc40, and this is the major points for me.... Maybe something changing in new firmwares... Keep on news, pls. Nice review ! 😎
But you can use your standard Navi that comes woth the car? Or they gonne loose it?
What about google assistant or voice assistant in google maps, what language do we have? Portuguese?
Hi Kristian! How did you expand the driver screen to display the maps bigger? In all other Volvo videos I've watched, the maps are smaller and the gauges are bigger. Thank you!

No. This isn't something aftermarket. It's Volvo's/Google new infotainment.

Does your experience with google maps and voice recognition in the car, is similiar to the experience in the smartphone or there are a lot of diferences?
Never used voice command on smartphone devices and such. So can't say anything about that. Regards to the Google maps. There's some differences on this Volvo integrated system, and the smartphone Google maps app. It's more functions available when using smartphone. For now.
No carplay support
I really don't like this cockpit representation. Why not having the option of having classic dials as in the previous version? When you know the road, the map is only there to distract you and the dials are not good for a quick glance. How disappointing!
Does Android Auto work wireless? Does it fill out entire screen?

Volvo navigation is crab.. by the way you can you the map using your phone and send the destination to your car also. But the traffic update is terrible, even with a sim card with unlimited Internet to keep constantly updating on. With try also with volvo dealer .. unfortunately is not good.. im using Google map with my phone hahaha. A lot of money to buy this car with a but gadget hahaha never again.. if I wanna my carplayer I have to pay extra £300 + here in UK.
Will never buy a car with Google in, total pain in the backside with adverts, like in your posting, will not be long before you get bombarded with in the car !
I've just realised that people who are having problems with this system are I phone people and never interacted with android before.
Funny one.. Sadly that theory doesn't fit for me. Never had iphone. I'm on my 6th or 7th android phone. Maybe more.
