- Making Improvements To A Stuart Models Hb6 Boiler - In The Workshop. The HB6 boiler is a very well made item, I just need to tweak it slightly for my application. In this video I show exactly how I did that.

Mr. Appleton, I was taught the machinist & mechanic trades by”old school” masters, whom learned their trade during the great depression when most everything had to be improvised. In my opinion, you would do these men proud with your talent! I am most impressed by your videos, don’t listen to the yangs who say you are doing things wrong, they probably can’t do anything right, except criticise!
Thanks Keith, we have just been put back in lock down and all diversions are very welcome.
You do such beautiful work i really love how you wrap the pipes with string to look like the old asbestoses pipe coverings bravo sir you are a true badass !
Please reconsider and built the big boat, it will be one of a kind.
Bonjour Keith,
One of my steam launches is 1,45 m long with a Stuart D10 which weighs about 30 kilos... VERY difficult to carry, but I would dream of your triple in a boat... Just a dream...
Amicalement, Raphaël
Hi Raphael, Could you send me a digital photograph of it please, I would like to see that.
Please email to sales@mainsteam.co.uk
Beautiful Raphael. I love the Single cylinder cam device for self starting - !
When you torqued the safety valve, I "heard" your calibrated elbow click at just the right torque. 👍

Great videos, thanks
Glad you like them!
Once more a wonderfully explanatory video. In the background there’s a Proxxon MF70 milling machine. Do you happen to have videos where you use it (or introduce it)?

How big a boat could that engine push? Would it possible to make a steampowered single person launch? From the video it doesn't look quite big enough but it must be getting close.
Difficult to say, I think it's too small for a full size boat but would easily power a model bot of around 6 feet in length.
Sir do you use a special string like asbestos string or just ordinary white string?
Definitely no Asbestos, just ordinary string (not plastic string though).....
@@keithappleton thank you Keith. I have some ordinary white string and will use that on my Grove Stuart S50 to HB2 boiler steam plant that is fitted to a heavy cast iron base procured from the usual on site bidding emporium.
I was planing to use Humbrol gloss white to paint the string or is there a better paint please?
I use white domestic type emulsion paint - buy a test pot from a DIY outlet.
@@keithappleton thankyou Keith, I think I have spare 5 litre tin of just what you suggested in the garage.
Haven't commented for a while as I have to watch YT on tv if I want sound, & then I get lazy......usually....
But not today (lucky you :v )
BTW- I think you pronounced "keyboard worriers" wrong :D
Annnyways.....that 'large model boat' problem- Ive thought about that before, but no finances to pursue although you or someone else might like it....
Drop the model 'part' in exchange for 'a small'! ;)
My thought was a canoe with out-riggers & paddle wheels.
Power plant could be lifted in & out & perhaps kept inside on display shelf after removing A-frame for paddle wheels from base-board...
Canoe, out-riggers & their poles could be strapped to roof of car & the more delicate/costly power plant travels inside in comfort...
I had also considered using same power-plant as part of a Cli-shay(?) with chains....
One day perhaps, I hope...
Thanks once again for all your clips & all the best to you! ;)
What pressure are these recut threads safe for?
With "Loctite 542" thread sealant, the threads would withstand many times the boiler's working pressure.

⭐😃👍
The viewer with the steel bar talks the same ba ba ba)))
I love the way you handle your Trolls Keith, I did however notice a distinct lank of girlfriend jokes which may cause me to unsubscribe.
One question though, why haven't you converted to metric yet?
All the drawings for the steam Engines that I work on show Imperial sizes . . .
@@keithappleton I thought it was because they don't make adjustable spanners in Metric.
Just buy a hull that comes with a trailer, then make a friend with someone who owns a suitable towing vehicle and is willing to lend you that vehicle.
sandblasting media... hmm...
