Omega-3 Fatty Acids (7 Great Sources...) - 2024

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids are important to good health and optimization. The Omega-6:Omega-3 Ratio is also important to control inflammation and end-organ damage. You can optimize both of these things by eating the correct sources of Omega-3 fatty acids.
There is some mis-information out there as to what provides usable Omega-3's without giving too many Omega-6's. This video will help clear up this confusion. You may be surprised at something I say in this video.
Your body operates best when you give it the nutrients it needs, and avoid giving it the slow-poison of inappropriate foods, or food-like products. There is no need to pay premium prices for an Omega-3 supplement. There is definitely no need to pay extortion-level prices of a prescription source of Omega-3's. Just eat the correct, natural foods and you'll have all you need.

We still call herrings, herrings 😊.... Kippers are whole herrings smoked over oak chippings.... Craster kippers are fab from Northumberland UK. X

do not get the dodgy brightly orange dyed kippers that come vacuum packed with a knob of butter. Go to the fish counter in your supermarket or local fishmmonger and ask for the Craster kippers they are undyed and incomparable in flavour and superb! Place the kipper in a frying / saute pan of boiling water, let the water come back to the boil, immediately turn off the heat and put the lid on. 4 mins later they are done. Perfect with a squeeze of lemon.

@@KenDBerryMD Hello from South East England - Place the Craster kipper (as opposed to the standard vacuum packed nuclear orange dyed regular kippers with the knob of butter inside!!) in a frying/saute pan of boiling water, let the water come back to the boil, immediately turn off the heat and put the lid on. 4 mins later they are done. Perfect with a little squeeze of lemon. Craster kippers are the best because they are undyed, naturally smoked and delicious.

Kerry Gold. Oh my. Irish grass fed butter. usually comes in the half pound and it's expensive as a regular whole pound for American butter but if you taste it once you'll have it every now and then. So much richer.

  • @mvdmusicvideostorefreshthe3224

Enjoyed your video, it's great that you've heard of Kippers, these are Herring that have been smoked, but not like a cigarette 😄they are very tasty, I live on the northeast coast of England where there's a popular tourist destination called Whitby, it's where Bram Stoker wrote his book about Dracula, where you can still buy freshly smoked Herrings (Kippers), but they are quite expensive. When I was younger, you could buy what were called Rollmop Herring, so these weren't smoked and can't say that I've had them. Good information from yourself Ken. Cheers.

Thanks for this information on Omega-3 and items that have it. Now I know what to look for. Yes, never got them, but do see all these paid commercials on Omega 3 supplements. Seems anything on TV food/health wise is always too good to be true-too much selling hype. Glad you confirmed this. I guess some people out there are gullible to try these TV items.

I love sardines, and I found it funny when you mentioned you need to head outside when you eat them because the lady thinks they smell bad. It's true. They do have a potent aroma, I get kicked out too, but the cat sure wants to make friends with me on my way out! i have since moved to eating a lot of sardines that are already in mustard, tomato sauce, or my fave, the jalapeno hot sardines! I never realized they were really that good for me, just always liked the flavor! Great vids, thanks Dr. Berry!

Question: my mom’s been on Keto religiously for about 8 months now and her recent blood work came back amazing, EXCEPT for her ALT. Her weight has stabilized and she is no longer losing weight( she’s a healthy weight now for a few months now). It suddenly shot up from a normal level us to a high level, around 45 or 50, and her doctor wants her to stop Keto bc they think Keto might be actually giving her fatty liver disease. Is elevated ALTs after being on Keto for a while normal? And if so, how does she get it back down to normal?
Thanks Dr. Berry, have a great new year!

Dr. Berry, great info. I am convinced of the health benefits of wild game. How does the DHA/EPA/ALA profile look for Deer, Elk and Bison? Hard to find fresh sardines, herring and mackerel here in Rocky Mountains. Will canned forms of these fish still provide good DHA/EPA benefit?

Dr, Berry - When you speak of the 6 to 3 ratio is that ratio measured in grams? As in Omega 6 food product in grams to Omega 3 food product in grams? I have read some want that ratio at 1:1 which seems difficult to do (if its in grams) without supplementing with a fish oil. Thank you!
