      @@racingrachel oh you're totally right! i went back and checked - she has some recommendations for leave ins and detanglers in her 3 part Drugstore Haircare Favorites series. however, because those products don't offer full heat protection, I would still love to see a video from her on drugstore heat protectants! i think she's only recommended the one from tresemme within the last year.

    Thanks! Love the drugstore info! Way too many people are like you can’t have nice hair unless you spend $200 on your routine. Thanks for showing us that’s not true. I love my high end products but everyone should be able to afford to feel beautiful. I’d love a hair styling video that does the same. I tend to be willing to spend on shampoo and conditioner but hairspray and heat protection? Ugh. Hard to justify.

    Abbey! Big fan and Environmental Technologist here- I would be super cautious promoting Quaternary Ammonium compounds in haircare, lots of them are toxic to fish so washing them down the drain can be problematic if your municipality doesn’t treat for them, also they are strong anti microbials which can cause fungus overgrowth on the skin. They’re great for adding slip but personally I try my best to avoid. Thank you for the great content!

    • @JulienArbor

      I seem to recall that many years ago some of the QAs were also proposed to be carcinogenic.

    • @sabeanie5002

      @@JulienArbor yeah hard to speak on that, as a category of compounds they’re widely used in food service and general disinfection because they’re so good at preventing bacterial growth. But imo unnecessary in haircare when weighing out the confirmed and potential risks to environmental and human health.

    Girllllll.... You my guru! I'm new to your channel, and your advice is absolutely coming at a time that I've never needed it more.
    2023 hasn't been my best year health wise. Many hospital stays and surgeries, compounded by failing kidneys have just wrecked my poor hair. It's been impossible to care for it properly, but I'm loathe to cut it all off. It's waist length, red and quite gray so I color it... so there are issues. Worn 99% of the time in a loose braid, it's stick straight and I love it long despite my advanced age (66).
    I need to do as much topically as possible, as my intake of vitamin supplements and some foods are very restricted because of the kidney failure aspect.
    I surely hope you see this comment, because I want you to really know how helpful your videos have been.... I sincerely thank you! You've saved me from the thought of a pixie cut for the moment to see if I can get my act together.
    Thank you... I appreciate you...
    Blessed be...

    Abbey, have you ever tried the Neutrogena TSal (not TGel) shampoo? It’s 3% salicylic acid, lathers up really nicely, and is good at removing buildup. Sulfate free but still has other anionic surfactants, so it always leaves my hair feeling super clean (and I have super dense, wavy/curly hair) but never stripped. It’s also only $6! I think it might be a good combo of your Inkey list scalp treatment + shampoo, doing both of those in 1 step.

      This is actually the worst shampoo in existence imo. Maybe I just got a dud batch but jeez, I’ve never had such a hard time lathering up a shampoo I had to use 3x the amount I usually do. It also leaves such a thick heavy residue/soft feeling to the hair that I don’t even need to use conditioner when washing with this if my hair is short. It ends up looking greasy again within 12 hours. I do not recommend!

    • @denim-blues8777
      @denim-blues8777 Před rokem

      I like the Tsal shampoo! It helps with dandruff and leaves my scalp feeling clean. The only downside is that it dries the lengths of my hair out even though I try to concentrate it on my scalp and follow up with a nourishing conditioner. My hair is pretty thin and gets greasy fast.

    • @InimeKai
      @InimeKai Před rokem

      @@amelianewell-close2196 maybe that film it leaves in your hair is because of your water quality? Because it definitely doesn't do that to me, it's actually quite drying on my curly hair so my hair would be straw if I didn't use conditioner afterwards. Doesn't make my hair greasy faster, either. But despite how drying it is it's not necessarily a bad shampoo, I oil my hair before I shampoo so that makes it more tolerable.

    Have you ever reviewed Virtue Hair products? Would love to know your thoughts on this brand. Their claim to fame is their Alpha Keratin 60ku ingredient.

    Do you find that using a clarifying shampoo every wash day fades toner / hair dye faster?

    Thank you very much for this great video Abbey. I have been using the higher end products like Olaplex, K18, Ouai and Wow but my bank account is not too happy (the boyfriend too) LOL…I used in the past the L’Oréal Ever Pure for coloured hair but will try the bond one and the Eva NYC mask. Thank again ❤

    Is using too many bond strengthening products an issue? I thought I heard somewhere that too much protein is bad.

    They stopped selling my shampoo so I need to find a new one. I’m gonna try one of your recommendations. Thank you.

      Kind of since there will be a lot of damage, but you could use it on normal hair.

    I got a shampoo you recommend and simultaneously tried shampooing twice for a couple of washes. My dry scalp did not appreciate it. I am back to shampooing once and now I love the shampoo.

    I found your channel because I was drawn to New Wash but was feeling super skeptical about the price. now I have a whole new lease on hair/life lol!! this routine has made my hair so easy to manage and style that I finally got the haircut of my dreams instead of just throwing my damaged locks in a bun every day.

      I don’t think it was suggested that you use all of them. Just saying what products are good and you choose which ones you need.

    Hi there! Thanks for the great info. The link for the first oil you talk about.. takes you to the wrong product (a dry shampoo).
    Just giving you a heads up.

    People are over using bond products. My friend and I- she is a hairdresser have both realized too much bond repair destroyed our hair. Too much protein as well. I have the best luck with Biolage. We need more moisture and less bond and protein.
