Severely Neglected Guinea Pig Rescued From Animal Shelter Part 1 😢

- Checkers was surrendered to a local shelter as a stray. Shelter staff examined him
And deemed him normal
And adoptable, he was clearly not.
Shelter volunteers were in tears and desperately seeking a rescue to help.
We had to wait a few days to get him out due to shelter rules.
We are convinced he had been dropped/thrown and in essence abused. On top of that he has been severely neglected.
Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue (SCGPR) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of neglected, abandoned, and at-risk Guinea Pigs.
Our adoptable Guinea Pigs are cared for in homes by foster volunteers, and our organization operates entirely on donations. Our network spans the whole of Southern California, and we work to serve every community throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.

I don't understand everything but I see he is not in a good condition. That is so sad to see. Thank you so much for rescuing him. He is so cute. He look at the camera like he knows he is save now and is thankful for that. This pictures and Music makes me wanna cry and I will cuddle my piggies and when i see them relaxed lying in their cuddle sack in my arm how they fall asleep I am thankful that my Babies always has a safe and lovely forever home here and never shared this Fate... I wish every animal and Human would be protect and love. Everyones deserve this. But I am glad that rescues help them and sad at the same time that rescues are necessary.😔 Go ahead little Sweetheart. You are a strong Boy ❤️u will make it!
It breaks my heart to think how some animals never know what life is supposed to be like. But Checkers is going to learn under your wonderful care! Love goes such a long way with these precious creatures. Our hearts are with you, precious boy

i have a Guinea kinda like this he looked like he had been starved and he had scented bedding that wasnt even made for guienas the og owner had him around other animals and only had one guiena and its dangerous for them he had a huge blister on his butt but its okay hes alright now hes eating alot better he has good bedding now he gets fed veggies and fruit hes alot happier and i hope that guiena is too!
Thank you for taking care of Checkers. It's sad how prevalent stories like this are, and I'm just glad that there is one less animal suffering.

I shared the video on my facebook and someone messaged me about wanting to adopth im, I sent them to your facebook page and said they'd have to inquire about things with you but that was before I realised how bad the situation was with Checkers.
He sounds bad... his little sounds seemed kind of watery.
And when he didn't even flinch when we rubbed down his back side, I KNEW he felt horrible. Most piggies hate being touched on their backside. And for all his neglect, he had to have felt terrible to let you touch him at all!
He was very bad off when we got him. Please see the latest update though!!
Praying for full recovery and checkers has right attitude hmm this hay looks yummy and is not giving up on life. Checkers we all love you.
That poor baby! He suffered a terrible impact to both split his lip and knock his teeth out D: but he looks like he's a fighter. It won't be easy, but wishing him a speedy recovery and long happy life 💖💖💖

I hate when people mistreat any animal but Guinea Pigs are near and Dear to me and my Adult Children we have 8 piggies 🐹 and they Rule and Run the House. I can't imagine what he went through Blessings Checkers get well soon. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🐹🐹🐹🐹
Yes I agree it’s awful that anyone would mistreat an animal. We all love this little guy and don’t see how anyone could hurt him. He will never know anything else but love though ❤️

How is he now? Please give an update on him.
He is a sanctuary pig, doing really well with his foster mama but we are keeping him within the rescue. He has had a few URI's and has had fluctuating weight but otherwise is a very happy little guy.
