Love it, love it and love it more. Great demo of DM songs and a fantastic sampling synth. Just love the EMU synths, they changed music forever and just bought so much to the people who created and used these synths to their limit. As always love your channel and what you do and share with us. Thank you for sharing this great synth demo with us. Think they should give you a job in DM now lol.

The genius of Depeche Mode was not just their ability to sample unique sounds but to be able to combine them to make them into incredible music that is still unmatched by anything today . Their new ghost song is the best song I have heard in last 2 years. I bought the emax and the rack loaded with Alan Wilder sounds . They have the sounds stacked so only the keys that are in the song are playable . The emulator drive does not work that well it’s hard to load stuff from there. It’s better to mod it with sd card to scsi

Depeche Mode und die E-mu Sampler. Heute würde man vermutlich eine Signature Serie produzieren…. die gefühlt jeder 4. Mode Fan kaufen würde (mich eingeschlossen😊 ). So konnte Alan auch so gut wie alle live Parts alleine spielen und brauchte keine Keyboardburg wie Keith Emerson. Danke für die Demonstration
Da hast du wahrscheinlich Recht. DM wird man immer mit E-MU verbinden. Es war die erfolgreichste Zeit von DM. Sampling eröffnete ganz neue Möglichkeiten und man nutzte sie. Alan war ein Meister darin.

Der allereste Klang mit dem "Stripped" beginnt _(dieser Pling-Akkord)_ ist der Bootup-Sound eines 1995er Power-MACintosh. Mal so am äußersten Rande erwähnt um zu dieser musikalischen Auflistung hier eine Kleinigkeit beizutragen. Habe mich damals bei meinem ersten Apfelrechner tatsächlich wochenlang gefragt woher, verdammt, ich diesen Sound kenne ...! 🙂

Hard to get the snare sound that was a product of 1980s era SSL desk along with all the outboard gear that DM used. Still we have access to the numerous DM samples from Alan Wilder and others replicating it! Ohh these are dreams made true to sound and play along to our fav DM songs
The World in my Eyes snare is very special too.
Great stuff!! If you listen closely to 101 u can tell and hear the effects reverb sustain etc are all done at the main desk, this is because of the short sample time in the emax (though alot in 88). The emax was chosen because it was robust and held up well during DMs extensive tour schedule.

As I wrote on Facebook under my real name, this is one of the instruments that I wish I had brought one of early in the 2000s when they were still within my reach.
What I forgot to mention is that I once had an opportunity to get an Oberheim DPX1 module. That would’ve meant I could only load it with other people’s libraries, but it still would’ve been neat to own.

I'd be tempted to get the rack version, if hardware samplers weren't such a PITA to use. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoy these demos you publish. Lovely, lovely sounds.

The Emax is very easy to use
@@SamplersAndThings Perhaps by sampler standards, but I remember floppies and early hard discs from the 1980s. Getting sounds into a sampler is generally just painful.
@@SeverityOne no, you retrofit it with a floppy emulator and everything is saved to SD card. With the Emax, everything is printed on top of the unit so not a lot of menu diving, everything is right there. It’s pretty fast really.
@@SamplersAndThings A floppy emulator is still slow. My point, which isn't coming across very well, is that hardware samplers, at some point, started to be technically inferior to computers. And that's why nobody builds them anymore, or it would have to be in a form with tight computer integration. You're still stuck with a couple of megabytes of memory and slow peripherals.
This has little to do with the musicality of vintage samplers, and that may be a very good reason to use them. But they'll never reach the practicality of working with a computer, as unexciting as that may be.
