I'm in the process of restoring a John Deere 285 1989 vintage with a 50" deck and fuel injection. I just got it running and I must say the fuel injection works great. Just no replacement parts for the fuel injection system. I am gathering parts to convert it to a carb if needed. Great video, Thanks 😊
my lx 188 (smaller water cooled kaw) kept overflowing the carb . the fuel pumps on these would supply a big block v8 . had to install a tee , and a run return line to tank . my jd 320 (same engine as the 285) broke a cam gear , so i swapped in a 17 hp single kaw from a 185 hydro . bolted right in , but had to weld longer inlet pipe on muffler and cut new hole in frame for exhaust .
Do the EFI's have this faulty fuel pump as well because I hear an electric pump in the tank when I turn the key but not sure if there is one on the motor to supply the EFI.

Great job saving this burnt up 285. I remember having the same problem with the throttle cable bolts @30:30😮
