    What a team the mighty hawks are
    Back to back to back its remarkable i mean with the salary cap the trades and how the afl is now days teams aren't meant to make it too 3 straight grand finals well the hawks have done it they've made 4 straight and won 3 in a row we are a remarkable team and we're gonna be very hard to beat next year again!
    Well done Hawthorn #3peaters

    • @2011GamerBoy
      @2011GamerBoy Před 9 lety

      +ELDERPALADIN98 Well each teams have their down hill period but Hawthorns premiership window would be open for another 2 years at max. and they'll be finals team still for a long time.
      And none of those teams will be able to do what the hawks have done 4 flags in 8 years back to back to back premierships!

    • @leedelaney70
      @leedelaney70 Před 8 lety

      +Dimitri Marras You are forgetting 2 massive things.........with the 2 new teams coming in and the compromised drafts that lasted for about 5 years it has actually been easier for the top teams to stay at the top and consequently it's been harder for the bottom teams to improve with almost all the best young talent over those compromised drafts going to Gold Coast & GWS. Then you add in free agency where let's face it good players wanting to leave weaker teams only do it for 2 reasons - a massive pay increase or to seek team success. The Hawks have been a major beneficiary of free agency. Any 3peat is a great thing but it's definitely been easier to do now than say when the Brisbane Lions did it, when there was no free agency and no compromised drafts preceding their success.

    • @2011GamerBoy
      @2011GamerBoy Před 8 lety +3

      ELDERPALADIN98 Wait so Brisbanes three peat was more difficult? Even though they were significantly helped by the AFL and got heaps of trades and a great coach and good drafts lmfao your just another typical by stander that can't accept how great this Hawthorn side is. and our players are ageing savagely? Hmm explains why our ''savagely ageing'' players have been getting better as the years go by Mitchells last 3 seasons have arguably been his best, Another thing our ageing players have been the stand outs in the big finals. Hodge 2 best games have arguably been the 2014 and 2015 grand final. Just wait and see next year as the Hawthorn domination rolls on. and i'll tell you another thing if Hawthorn does make the Grand Final next year they will not lose it.

    • @AnotherFastnet70
      @AnotherFastnet70 Před 8 lety

      +Dimitri Marras " Wait so Brisbanes three peat was more difficult? Even though they were significantly helped by the AFL and got heaps of trades and a great coach and good drafts lmfao ". Care to explain yourself ? In particular, explain how they were helped by the AFL as one could argue the AFL cost them a premiership in 2004. Leigh Matthews and Jonathon Brown certainly believe so. They were in receipt of some $300,000 in their Salary Cap (Sydney Swans were getting a million). This was designed to relieve the inequalities related with teams in traditional non football states retaining players as the majority of their lists are sourced from outside of their state. This inequality has been beautifully illustrated in the last few years when the Lions lost players such as Yeo, Docherty, Mitch Clark, Aish, Redden , Jared Polec etc all citing homesickness. Of course the silence on this has been deafening. Are you insinuating the AFL got Leigh Matthews to Brisbane ? If you are not then what's your point ? They got a measly 2 players from the Fitzroy merger who would go on and become premiership players, young first year player Chris Johnson and the older
      Martin Pike (ex Melbourne/North Melbourne), who nobody was prepared to take on. It was to prove a masterful stroke to take the risk with him as he ended up a 4 time premiership player. Alastair Lynch was traded from Fitzroy 2 years earlier on his controversial 10 year contract but suffered injury and then chronic fatigue syndrome that lasted until 1999, possibly missing his best football years. What good draft picks did they get that they didn't deserve ? It should be remembered they finished on the bottom in 1998. They drafted Des Headland with No.1 pick that year (they also lost him due to homesickness when he went to Freo) and In the years preceding that they were good enough to unearth players such as Leppitsch, Black, Bradshaw, Lappin and Luke Power through the draft. Other clubs had the opportunity to draft them. All became great players. They drafted Chris Scott using Collingwood's Pick 12 in the 1993 Draft that they received for none other than all time great and future Brownlow Medallist and Collingwood captain Nathan Buckley. They also got an old Craig Starcevich as part of that deal but he was retired prior to their premiership years.One could easily argue Collingwood were the major beneficiary of that trade. Craig McRae came in the Pre Season Draft. They also drafted Norm Smith Medallist Shaun Hart years earlier (pick 33 1989) along with troubled teen Darryl White, who they persevered with despite his frequent bouts of homesickness. Brad Scott was traded by Hawthorn to the Lions. They unearthed ruckmen Beau McDonald (73rd pick 1997 Draft) and Clark Keating (ex Surfers Paradise/Lions U/19 1992). They got J.Brown by way of father/son and they already had young QLDers such as Voss, Akermanis, Ashcroft & Copeland (Rookie Draft). They traded Jarrod Molloy to Collingwood to get Mal Michael in return. The AFL changed the rules of the Draft so they couldn't get the young QLD local Nick Riewoldt, who became an immediate star at StKilda. Imagine Buckley AND Riewoldt in those Lions premiership teams. The AFL also duped the Lions in 2004 when they forced them to play a home Preliminary Final away at the MCG (they earned the right for a home Prelim after finishing 2nd and winning all finals) and then scheduled it on Saturday night (which meant flying back to Brisbane Sunday) and allowed Port Power to play at home on the Friday night, effectively giving Port a 2 day advantage leading into the biggest game of the season. It's no surprise the Lions faded in that Grand Final.......So where is that significant help, heaps of trades, good drafts and great coach that the Lions received from the AFL over and above what all other clubs received ? I am not saying for 1 minute this current Hawthorn team is not a great team as it is however to say the great Brisbane Lions team of 2001 - 02 - 03 - 04 had it easier due to all this help they received from the AFL is factually incorrect for the reasons I have outlined above.

      @Trinsicity Před 9 lety +1

      Karen Devine Teams play in Grand Finals to win, yes? Apart from the first 2 minutes, when did it ever look like the Eagles were going to win? I'm not saying that I'm the single most important person to be appeased, but you're delusional if you think that the AFL isn't now about entertainment every bit as it is about the actual sport. All I'm saying is that the WCE, from both a sporting AND entertainment perspective, let everyone down on Saturday.

    • @Trinsicity
      @Trinsicity Před 9 lety +1

      Karen Devine If you can't see how the players, AFL, and the broadcasters are all related then that's your problem.
      And if finding what's meant to be the most anticipated and hotly-contested AFL game all season to be yet another tensionless and one-sided display of Hawthorn making their opponent look like a state-league team makes me a sook then, fine, I'm happy to be called a sook.
      You'll find that I'm nowhere near the only one that thinks this, though, and even some devout Hawks supporters I was sitting and watching the game with said they lost interest after half time. But don't worry I'll tell them you think that they're sooks as well.

    • @badeggsmatty2866
      @badeggsmatty2866 Před 9 lety +1

      +trinsicity Why do you follow this game then? Stop following it because you are going to be very disappointed with years to come. All through AFL history teams have been thrashed in grand finals. The grand final doesn't have to be close for it to be a entertaining game. Watching good tough footy with unbelievable skills on display is what it is all about.

    • @Trinsicity
      @Trinsicity Před 9 lety +1

      Badeggs Matty You basically defeated your own point... "Watching good tough footy with unbelievable skills on display is what it is all about."
      ...Last weekend I only saw one team play good tough footy with their skills on display. The other team curled up into a corner and got made into their WAFL equivalent.
      Did you watch the NRL grand final the day after? Even if you don't normally follow the NRL I'd strongly suggest at least checking out a highlights reel. It delivered in every way the AFL one failed to do. The two teams were evenly matched the whole way through, to the point where there was a draw in the dying seconds of the match, and then the end result was only decided by a single point in time-on.
      Regardless of which team won, it was entertaining, suspenseful, and both teams threw their absolute best at each other from start to finish, which is how a grand final should be. Like in 2005's GF - West Coast lost that one as well but it was still a great game to watch. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the two best teams of the year to throw their best games at each other and have it be a strongly-contested fairly-even match.

      technically they didnt, in 1924 they brought in a new stupid system called the argus system.
      In 1929 the pies lost to the tigers in the semi final, then they were given a weeks rest and a pass straight into the grand final somehow!
      They end up winning that and they ended up naming the semi final the pre lim.
      following year the pies beat the tigers in the semi final but then lose the grand final to the cats but because the argus system had a rule which if the minor premiers didn't win the grand final they would repeat it the following week, which collingwood bounced back and won so really they didn't win a genuine 4 in a row just thought id share that

    Hawthorn can't win a GF if the other team shows up. The last time a team showed up for the GF was 2012 where Sydney did the hawks in a thriller. 2013 Fremantle: Freo didn't show up. 2014 Sydney: Sydney didn't show up. 2015 WCE: Well you know what happened. My point is is that this year (2016) the top 8 is so close that without the right umpires, they won't be able to win. Adelaide, Sydney, the dogs and GWS are all contenders along with the hawks. Right now it looks like the crows will be Premiers due to form. And may i remind you what GWS did to hawthorn. TO ALL HAWKS SUPPORTERS: HAVE FUN IN THE FINALS

      Love this argument. Conversely you could argue that it made it easier for other clubs to win, like Geel, Coll, St Kilda, WC, Syd, Freo too - so why didn't they win 3 in a row? Coz they weren't good enough.
      Or you could argue Hawthorn were as disadvantaged as everybody else becasue they couldn't trade for those high draft choices as they went to the foundation sides...
      Or we could go on for ever...but nothing takes away the flags...and that really gives you the shits doesn't it? Love it!!!

Elite midfielders run 25 - 30km a game (2 hours) and about 80% of that is sprinting. Can also get hit from 360 degrees. AFL football players will do anything to appear unhurt when they are. Football/Soccer players will do anything to appear hurt when they are not. Just about sums it up.
