I think he and Cyndi bonded over this and the fact that they both had rough early lives.

I would have worn out her True Colours album ten times over on cassette. The sound that album had was ahead of it's time. The synths and the dive bomb guitars gave the album that extra flair.

Really now.. how many singers of today can practically scream while singing and still sound amazing? I wish so much that Cyndi got the recognition in the 80s that she should have. With all due respect to Ms Lauper, I don't really like the studio version at all. But this live version is one of my favorite things ever.
