The slickness and durability of the Pergo slats allowed me to push it square into the alcove and then I inflated the 3 air shims to remove enough weight from the pan to pull the Pergo slats out. They deflate paper thin and had no problem retrieving them. Love these things.

Replacing all the doors in my house, I picked up one of these from Home Depot a few months ago to help with the install. It's well worth it. Makes it easy to line up the hinges without a helper. You can even install a pre-hung door without taking the door all the way off the hinges and make minor adjustments with the air to get the door perfectly plumb and level before shimming the door and putting screws behind each hinge one at a time.

I first became aware of these back in 2005 when I was a store manager for GamStop and my assistant manager called out. I was in such an exhausted stupor from playing Battlefield on my Xbox the night before that I stammered out to my car, turned it on, and realized I forgot my lunch. I was wearing driving gloves and I must have accidentally hit the lock button and didn’t feel it because when I got back I was locked out of a running car in my driveway. My neighbor at the time was a volunteer firefighter and was coming back to his house when he saw my plight. He said he had a “slim jim” back at the station which was just down the way. He comes back and puts the air wedge into the door and within minutes he was able to fit a long, thin, piece of flexible metal into the gap and had the door unlocked in 3 minutes. I gave him a $20 and I was on my way. He says they use those to get into cars that have infant babies or animals locked in cars on hot days, and it does the job well.
Also, nice shoutout to the LPL

I have a stackable washer/dryer (apartment size) in a small closet and I want to shove it up against a wall so that on the opposite side I will have room for a broom. The way it is now it is centered and I only have a small space on each side instead of one larger space. There would be no problem with doors opening on the closet or on the washer/dryer. I would probably need the longer air bladder to raise the machine from the bottom and them one between the washer/dryer and wall. Do they make the hoses longer so that it be placed further away?

That can happen. But you can also bend it back in. Roll your window down, put your knee up on the inside of the door just below the window all the way to the back. Then give that window frame a tug and it should bring it back into proper alignment. Many cars come from the factory with doors out of alignment and that's how we do it.

I just ordered one and am looking forward to trying.. I never level my dryer because its such PITA but this makes it seem doable finally.
I think it would be awesome if they made a model for foundation. I have some steps that have sunken that I need to find a way to jack up so I can level them. I could probably do it with two of the 500lb versions of this.

I believe someone actually does make big ones that will jack a house. I have no idea of the cost but I'm sure you can find them.

I sometimes use something similar at work to lift commercial appliances. It will lift up to 1000 lbs but you need an air compressor.

Locksmiths use these alot to help customers get back into their cars. And I guess crooks use them to steal cars and trucks.
I always thought the idea for it probably came from a blood pressure cuff.
One note. If you're honest and just need to get into your locked car, don't inflate the bag TOO much or you could destroy your side window. Spring the door out just enough to get a coat hanger or thin rod into the car to unlock it.
    Good vid.👍

Still need a key to start the car. Many cars have an immobilizer that requires a key with a chip.

@@n9wox Well car thievery wouldn't be the main usage of these. We have a problem in St. Louis right now where people are roaming looking for unlocked car doors to steal things out of them. If the thieves had these I'd be very worried and be forced to clean out my garage. Back in Vegas there were thieves would would use jacks to force open garages to steal motorcycles. I imagine they could use these for that too.

@@n9wox Yeah. But if you locked your keys in the car, you have to get into the car to get them.
Locksmiths make good money with lockouts, and I KNOW they use this bag shim to gain access. Better than a "slim jim".

A few years ago I helped my neighbor retrieve his key in the locked car. I used my fingers as the shim. Hurt like hell, and it still hurt afterwards, but it felt good because I Helped my Buddy. I think the air shim would work better.

When you're working by yourself and need to lift solid wood doors onto the hinges. Pump it up with your foot. Also leveling appliances. Lift up the appliance to take the weight off the adjustable legs.

This would have been helpful when I locked my keys in the car. I didn’t want to pay for a mobile service so I used a screwdriver. I scraped up the car a little but there’s already dents and scratches in a few other spots so it didn’t really bother me. I do have a new car that I would never do that to so this is very helpful and definitely cheaper than AAA
