- I haven't posted in a while... Sorry about that! Today I want to talk about air wedges, something that has been in my kit for a while that I've never used until recently. Wow these things are incredibly effective and are quickly becoming a go-to item in my kit!
Finally! A practical use for those Air Jordan's with the pump up tongue!
And everyone _laughed_ at me for keeping them for 30 years!
Worth big money now !
I could’ve sworn they were Reebok Pumps…
Bahahahahaha
I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky! 😜
really loving your vids ,very clear and accurate. I watched this last night, and this morning I get a call for a simplex 6000 lockout (Im a licensed locksmith) and after trying to shim it unsuccessfully due to the deadlatch being properly active I remember that i always have 2 air wedges (1 from home depot/lowes and the other from my supplier ), I then proceeded to use both ,one above and one below the lock and wedged it enough that a small crowbar popped it open. so thanx for the reminder
Was that call to a comercial or residential property?
I noticed at my house, and most residences, that the door is recessed in such a way you cant get in air wedge in to spread the gap, but most stores and offices have gaps you could drive a truck through
Deviant Ollam brought me here and I subscribed right away!!!!!
@@amihirata I as well what a helpful video.
They would be shit...
Pro-tip: If you use the AW to release deadlatches and the doorway is too tight to fit the wedge, you can use another under the door in a corner to angle the door enough that you can get the wedge into the right part.
Air wedges all the way down.
Love it ,never thought about this kind of exploit. Great review, thank you for sharing it
Air wedges are great and don't cause cosmetic damage like a small crowbar/lever might. Great stuff!
@@amihirata Nice, thanks for the tip!
Great video! Useful info indeed...thanks!
Annnddddd, now I'm buying an air wedge!
Home Depot has 3 sizes of Calculated Industries "contractor grade" air shims $15.39 - $24.55. Smallest is "slim". Largest does 500 lbs. Expect them to be better than most, 4.5 - 5 star reviews.
I have one and despite being lower priced, it seems to be significantly sturdier than ones marketed for auto entry purposes!
@@lokpikr999I was about to say this. The one he's using costs like $5. Works great.
thanks for video, i had been wondering about trying nee tricks with the air bags good info
Garage door opening is another great use for them
Ther are invaluable when used in opening vehicle doors too.
Great tip !
Subbed. Appreciate your content 👍
I recommend the air wedge at the top of automobile doors, where you can get leverage, and use it to get a rod through to manipulate the latch and lock buttons.
Dont bend the door too much though, or youll void the weatherstripping.
What about the dead bolt?
Wow that's awesome! If I ever grab a UDT or DDT I'm grabbing that too!
i have the udt and it’s great very easy to use
Awesome thank you
As a p.s. I remeber using an air wedge to gain a drop more room and using the american padlock flag bypass tool to toggle open a mortise locks' latch
Awesome have thought of that I like it though
01:20 Why did the door latch retract into the door as you inflated the bag? You can see the scratch mark on the latch moving to the right as the latch retracts into the door.
I thought it was the camera moving to the side, but you have a point.
I noticed that too
Why couldn't you just have pulled on those two door handles to separate them?
Why when i search for videos just like this they're are none to be found until Deviant shouts them out?
@@amihirata Oh lol, that would do it. I'm a manger at a locksmith company and we get lock outs that have high security locks and not everyone's picking skill is up for the challenge and this video is a good demo on how you don't always need to go straight to the lock picks to get in. So thanks for the upload, it really puts another perspective on using this tool.
4:12 so many CZcamsrs use the word tolerance when they should say clearance.
Harder on doors with moldings on the other side. I wish they made long and narrow air wedges
How long and narrow would you think? Straight out some curve?
And i really am not trying to be all pervo
I'm not trying to save the door I'm gonna put air wedges in every single wedge
Great video :) but vernier callipers which measure in inches? Yuck...
@@amihirata wait you are also Deviant? I'm confused.
Vernier is a scale used in manual calipers those were digital calipers which do both
I'm sure these are the doors used by classrooms in schools. 😜
Funny how you can watch the latch retract substantially while the door is barely moving. I call BS.
Yea, exactly. Looks like he couldn't find a set of doors that this would actually work on so he had to fudge it. Its possible this would work, but the door hinges would have to be worn or have other issues.
How does the US still use imperial system in this modern world.
Metric callipers might be an idea
De-engage? Disengage would be the word.
