- Here is another instance where David featured his dancers on the TV show "Hullabaloo". Two of his dancers were Donna McKechnie, Tony Award winning star of "A Chorus Line", and Michael Bennet award winning, creator, director, choreographer of "A Chorus Line". They were both hired by David and met on this show. Goldie Hawn also auditioned for David and was one dancer away from getting the job.
Yes i did, but Donna had already worked for me before Hullabaloo.
Pocolootta, you are MOST kind, thank you.
Aaahhhh! It's the real you! Watched *WSS* about three years ago, and realized that A-rab, the little guy with the reddish-blond hair (and cute rear, might I add) was mid-screen in most of the Jets dance sequences. He blew me away with his sheer energy, agility, and athleticism.
You've done (and continue to do) amazing work. Good on you for carving out such a strong career, sir! Long may you choreograph and dance!
WOW. Such little footage of Michael Bennet, and here is with Donna, WOW!!! Thanks!
I had always hoped that variety shows would come back. I remember clearly watching shows like these with my mother - she loved dancers, in particular males who danced. Good stuff. My daughter is a Juilliard trained dancer I wish my mom were alive to see her. And what absolutely slays me every time is that people who cannot dance or sing (Natalie Wood) get leading roles Westside Story, Gypsy. Glad to know that David Winters went on to have a fabulous career.
Suzanne Charney is probably best known as the lead dancer in the iconic Pompeii Club scene of Bob Fosse's 1969 movie production of "Sweet Charity". She went on to do guest shots on a variety of TV shows in the 70s and 80s.
Rest In Peace, Dean Jones.
F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.!!!!!!! I know I'm not the first who tells you this, but I MUST: You're a genius Mr Winters!
What is the name of the black dancer on the show?
Yes who is she?
I suppose some years later David Winters looked back with pride at hiring McKechnie and Bennett, considering their later Broadway success.
Did she do three turns to her knees?? In heels?? Yeah! Looks like that was "Barbara Alton" Could she be related to the choreographer Robert Alton?
