This is wonderful choreography and in my opinion way ahead of its time. The combination of classical ballet technique with modern jazz choreography is really well done. This dance is still relevant today.

No one ever moved like Donna McKechnie. Even without the 'name tags' you'd know that was her. Perfection as a dancer. You can see why Michael Bennett wanted to choreograph everything on her.

Well, thankfully, there were the two go-go cages on stage the entire time. Because, yes, this is great modern dancing - but let's not forget that the whole purpose of Hullabaloo was to show off '60s rock, and with it, the undeniable significance of go-go dancing. Thus the fame of the fringe-clad Lada in her go-go cage.

That was some great dancing! Very energetic and they were not just some dance moves then switch to the latest dance. I remember that one name Lada Edmond Jr. I can't remember if she was the or a principle dancer. I just remember that one name. First time I had ever heard a girl called "Jr." I found it odd. 😕

In much the same way that Fonzie "stole" the show on Happy Days, Lada Edmund Jr. "stole" the show on Hullabaloo (she is my hero). Nonetheless, this is one of the most amazing assemblages of dancers ever--including choreographer David Winter. Notice at 1:55 how Patrick Adiarte spins around twice in the air. Don't try that one at home kids without adult supervision!

the nicest thing to consider about the hullaballoo dancers is that they weren't 'young'. for example, patrick adiarte had to have been in his mid-twenties by the time he was dancing on the show. a far cry from the 19 year olds on 'sytycd'. the biggest plus--they dance with PASSION! real passion. not 'aren't i hot?stare at me now' passion but the real deal. i could watch this clip for hours and still be inspired to do one more pas de bourree.

I bought the Hullabaloo dvd's a while ago because I am into the music from that era and she immediately stood out. Not only is she the best dancer she is BEAUTIFUL. Her face is so pretty and cute all at once and she looks like she is truly having the time of her life every time you see her dance. I had no idea that she became so famous. Of the 2 main music shows of this type (Shindig and Hullabaloo), this one was more...'glitzy', whereas the terrific David Winter (R.I.P.), who was here, on CZcams (a very nice person, to boot) along with Toni 'Mickey' Basil, choreographed that show in a way more 'friendly' to the performer - and not distracting from it.
As some here know, a few of these have worked long with Bob Fosse.
Ms Charney (1:22) would be the lead girl dancer in the Rich Man Frug number of Sweet Charity.
