There is no way that hawk flew with 2 cefs tanks. With just one set fully fueled had our birds almost at max take off weight.

Not to doubt your experience with the aircraft, but the Wiki entry on this aircraft says the early ESSS was designed to carry 2x 870L and 2x 1,700L tanks. Later to be modified to take 4x 760L tanks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikorsky_UH-60_Black_Hawk (not that Wikipedia is the definitive word on anything, but just pointing it out).

@@matthewdahlitz and Im telling you that our HH60M with t701D engines and upgraded wider blades when fully fueled CEFS tanks weighed in at almost 21k . We flew with the wing and tanks config in iraq and at home. I crewed and maintained Hawks for almost 12 years. The non Med birds would un with the robby tanks "internal". we couldn't due to the Med interior. If you only fueled the exterior tanks to half full you could run both but why bother. As for flying them to Europe that might have been an idea but a C5 can carry 4 to 6 hawks each.

      @@matthewdahlitz the system can support two 870 L (230 gal) or 1,700 L (450 gal) not both

@@jayscott8583 Got it. So Brian says at 3:47 that the Aussies operated with the two outboard tanks, he doesn't suggest 4 tanks, so maybe the static display is disingenuously showing 4 tanks fitted?? He did say at 2:53 it was supposed to be a one-off to get the aircraft from the US to Europe - so from what you are saying that also would only be possible with 2 tanks?
