The diverse cast of characters was one of the main reasons I added this game to my to-buy list 😍
ABSOLUTELY! Love all the characters!... even Leah ;p
This really sums up a lot of my feelings initially while playing! The way everyone and everything gets presented is so refreshing. It really just feels like an actual community of people, with everyone being unique.
Yeah! I didn't mention this in the video but I also love the mixed families in the game, too. Like Leah's step-mom being Ling. There's so much life and diversity
What do you think about Coral Island so far? Would you like a follow-up where I review the game's mechanic, etc.?
Absolutely!
Yes, please!✌🏻
A great positive look at a game that hits a lot of details important for so many to feel seen and represented in videogames. Hopefully the start of many such games in the industry and used as an example of how it could be done.
I can't recall any other cozy game with this many accessibility features, The devs did right by the players. Hopefully other games take notes for a better overall gaming experience for everyone.
Right? So many that I had never heard of or seen which just opens my eyes to what other games could and should have too!
I love this game!! Recently I've been feeling burnout with playing life/farm sim game but Coral Island really cured my burnout. And as an Indonesian myself I love how the devs kept the queer representation ❤❤
There have been so many farming sims lately so the burnout is understandable. Glad you have Coral Island to bring you back though
As a backer, I'm so excited that this game is finally out. It's killing me though because I want the switch version. BUT seeing this video just made me want to buy the game for PC anyways lol I'm gonna end up with two because of you 😂
hahaha well it would be supporting the devs even more so I wouldn't feel so bad if that was my fault :P
The diversity and accessiblity options in this game is incredible!
I've fallen in love, I'll be buying it and also recommending it to all of my friends!
Thank you for another fantastic review Toph xx
Yay! It's currently on every platform EXCEPT switch but a switch version is on its way. Probably sometime next year!
aaa this video was amazing - great job! The ONLY reason I haven't purchased the game yet is that I'm currently in my Sims 4 era, but I'm definitely getting Coral Island soon
Coral Island will be waiting for you until you're Sims'd out :P
This was so well done. Thanks Toph !!
Thank you for watching
As an Indonesian, i really glad they didn't feel remove the LGBTQ relationship and other elements in this game after some local backlash 🥹
It's a important game 🏳🌈
True!! As an Indonesian myself, I'm also glad and proud that the devs keep LGBT relationship and the other elements.
I'm really glad they didn't. It would have made Coral Island feel like a very different game..
Berarti anda pendukung LGBT 🤮
Oh no not another game I want to buy 😂 Thanks for reviewing and showcasing all the ways this game is diverse and inclusive ❤
it's actually brave of stairway because indonesia is a muslim majority country and there are anti lgbt groups that's quite vocal.
That's what I've heard! Even more reason to respect them and appreciate their game
@@TophGames The dev teams brave adding lgbt because their backer/investor mostly from western people which is normal with lgbt stuff and almost non from the local itself, even tho got huge backlash from the local, they don't care because the local is not the backer
I totally agree with what you've said in the video, but I am still a bit disappointed in this "1.0" version. I haven't gotten there, but I've seen from the coral island community and other creators that the game is not finished. You hit a WIP quest wall eventually in the main story. A lot of the other details and things not being quite available yet I could get past, especially having been mentioned in a roadmap for next year. However the main story being incomplete on top of it all has me STILL waiting to play this again.
I'm still excited for when this game finally gets to a point where it's complete at least through the main story and the features that should exist to that point are finished being fully fleshed out. The amount of good stuff in this game and it's concept is fantastic, but calling this a 1.0 feels like a lie and they have not communicated about it very well either.
That's a totally valid point. For me, I guess I don't mind since I tend to balance a lot of games at once and rarely speed through a game. I'm sure by the time I hit whatever wall people are talking about, the next bit of content will be added lol. Still weird though. I heard some of the early access beta stuff isn't in 1.0 yet.
Love this game and the cast of characters. Personally would like a follow-up.
Good job!😊
👍 awesome review
Horaaayyy banyak yang menyukai game ini❤
On what platform is this playable on? Switch? ❤
It's on every platform except Switch and Apple ios. However, it will be on Switch in the future!
But is it complete enough for a 1.0 release
It feels pretty complete, I'd say. Especially with everything we saw in early access. Though I did hear that some of the stuff we saw in early access like the mermaid kingdom won't be added for a bit. Not sure if that's true or when that stuff would be coming if so though.
I get that you're trying to talk about the points you personally enjoy, but... There's more to games than the diversity and inclusivity and stuff, but... How does it play? How do the controls work? How does the story play out? What is the best thing about the game other than the diversity? Like, i get it, but also it feels like you didnt even play the game, you just looked down the list on the website and you opened the character creator.
Wouldnt you likely get more views and positivity if you outright stated it wasnt a review of the game itself, but it's diversity stuff? There's for sure an audience for it, so why limit yourself? People don't generally look for reviews for games from creators they don't know, and if they do, it's for an actual review. Even just a tagline, like "diverse, accessible, inclusive" would definitely open that window just that bit more.
I’m a massive SDV fan, but the zero diversity is probably one of my biggest issues with it. All the bachelors are meant to be distinct personality types but kind of feel similar. Plus it feels like people often have one bachelor/bachelorette they favor. I ADORE the art style and diversity in coral island and everyone seems so cool, I can’t choose at all!!! I am so so so happy to pick this game up! :)
I know that SDV has diversity mods but like... that shouldn't have to be added in by the players themselves. I'm hoping their next game, Haunted Chocolatier, has more diversity!
Sadly this game has no romance-ables that are my thing. otherwise looks good
Out of curiosity, what's a life sims game that has romanceables you like? Always curious to know gamers' type lol
I like harvest moon For Julius, Ludus & the harvest king. Then Stardew Valley for Elliott. Idk why, but I kind of wishthere was a pretty feminine merman to date. @@TophGames
Thanks for the "review". When I browsed for this I was really looking for information about gender and body type inclusivity in literal pixels and had zero interest for what the game is actually like. This video opened my eyes wholly.
Thank you so much anon pfp man. This is surely the greatest contribution you’ve ever made in your entire existence on this Earth and I’m so lucky to have witnessed it here in my very own comment section ❤️
Interesting... Indonesia is not known for its diversity and inclusivity...
