  • In today's tutorial I’ll show you how to integrate Samsung SmartThings devices into your Homey Pro hub using a SmartThings personal access token and the Homey SmartThings2 app which is available for download via the Homey Community Store. I’ll guide you through the four easy steps for achieving control of your SmartThings devices within Homey without the need to migrate any of devices from your SmartThings hub.
    IMPORTANT NOTE: The Homey Community Store (HCS) is down (Crashed) for sometime now. This is preventing the installation of the SmartThings 2 app via the HCS. There is a alternate method of installing the SmartThings 2 app for Homey Pro but it requires the use of GitHub CLI code and the use of Node.js, so it is a little technical. For those that want to try, you would need to source the GitHub code for the app and then install it via the CLI Install Method, outlined here on the Homey Community Forum: community.homey.app/t/how-to-... I may consider a instructional video if there is enough expressed interest.
    NOTE: Since it is not currently possible to install the SmartThings 2 app via the HCS, I took the time and effort to create a guide for installing the SmartThings 2 application via the Command Line Interface (CLI) install method within the Windows OS. You may find this guide on my website: tinyurl.com/mwtj3syw

      @@BudsSmartHome I may have gotten ahead of myself. It appears that this integration may not work on the Homey Bridge, only the Homey Pro. Dang. I was really hoping to test drive this a little more before committing first, to moving everything from ST to Homey, then second, to purchasing the $400 Homey Pro. Looks like I need to make a decision before moving forward. Thanks for the help and response anyways.

    The Ring Keypad you've setup in Smartthings some time ago, does that work directly in Homey Pro?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před 4 měsíci +1

      There is a "Ring Security" app: homey.app/en-us/app/com.ring.security/Ring-Security however the app offers limited functionality related to the keypad. I plan to address the shortcomings of Homey related to the Ring Alarm keypad in an upcoming video wherein I will present my Homey Pro Security Flow setup.

      Hi Bud, great info as always. Do you think that soon you can just eliminate the ST’s hub and just use Homey Pro? Like to think that would be the way to go to use a concentrate on just on hub and its devices.

      @@dankelley9361~ Great to hear from you Dan. I'd really like to go 100% Homey at some point but there are security related actions that I am doing within ST that I cannot replicated with Homey, as yet. One of the issues is that the Ring Alarm Keypad has limited functionality. I'll cover this in an upcoming video.

    Hi Bud great video. I've been trying to download the HCS app on my Mac when I get to the Homey CLI window and click allow nothing happens. It goes right back to "Authorize with Homey button. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před 4 měsíci

      Are you sure that your homey hub was selected prior to authorizing the app. Is the Homey Hub on the same network to which you installed the HCS app? Those are the only two things that I know to check. It may be an issue unique to the Mac??

      @@BudsSmartHome Im not sure what you mean by the hub being selected prior to authorizing the app. I am also on the same network no susses. I just tried installing the app on my son's PC and the same difference. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Thank you for such a quick response. Really appreciate it

      @@jeffg8065 ~ By hub selection, when you get to the step for authorizing the homey pro hub, you are asked to login using the same user name and password that you used to setup your Homey Pro account. Therefore, my question is, did you use your Homey Pro user name (email address) and password when logging in to authorize the app's access to your hub?

    • @jeffg8065
      @jeffg8065 Před 4 měsíci

      @BudsSmartHome Yes I see my username and password and profile pic. I click allow and it goes right back to "Authorize with Homey" button

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před 4 měsíci

      You must click the “Authorize With Homey” button. You then need to wait awhile. There is very small text at the bottom of your screen that should confirm your hubs connection. Go into your mobile app and check your Homey apps to see if the HCS is connected. It may be already connected, but may not be apparent on your Mac screen.
      Another possible issue is that the Homey Community space may be down, ( crashed ). It does this from time to time. I noticed that it was down this morning when I opened my app. This being true you’ll need to wait and try again later.
      My final advice, if you continue have problems, go to the Homey community forum, and reach out to the developer for assistance. Thanks, Jeff.

    Is it worth the cut over/ change... From smartthings ?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před 3 měsíci +3

      @JaiManny ~ At this juncture, I personally am not ready to make a full switch. This is mainly because I'm finding several of my current devices are currently unsupported. I am convinced that support will continue to improve as the hub becomes more popular and prevalent in the US. All this said, for someone that is just starting out or someone that has a small setup, it makes sense to start with Homey and continue to build out your smart home with Homey compatible devices. Homey offers much in the area of advanced flows and allows me to do far more in automation then I could accomplish in SmartThings. I hope this helps?
