Barely 2 minutes into the redraft and Bill already mentioned going to a Clippers game 😂
On the redraftables Bill will mention going to a Clippers game, on the rewatchables he will mention phones/social media. I think it's contractual
Right 😂😂
in the long form version of this draft on his website bills aid the george draft the pacers at 10...lol...and he was not corrected....its getting to be a problem..hes old man....
@@EverythingMustG0 and on anything he will mention the Celtics.
Yeah, Bill had Clippers season tickets! 🤣
Paul George did NOT have his moment in the bubble 😂
Hitting the side of the backboard in game 7 was definitely a moment.
I cannot stand watching Paul George in playoffs. Complete ball stopper on offense shooting tough shots like he kobe
Aka George Paul 😂
@@xxxllloorpoopypants3687 He shot similar to Kobe in the playoffs (though on ~2700 less shots). Kobe's 54.1 TS% to George's 56.2 TS%. Kobe had a better FG% but George had a better 3FG% so it evens out.
George has yet to have the back end of his career so it could change
@@catman-du8927 I would like to know turnover numbers as well
Did you guys know that Bill used to have Clipper's season tickets? He never mentioned it before
When did he get clippers season tickets...I don't remember him talking about those tickets in any of these redrafts 🤣😂🤣😂
@@Lenrom12 yeah I know in just about every single episode
Idk why you’d even want to mention that.
The only thing mentioned more than his tickets in the videos is some form of this comment on each message board
Topic: Paul George
Bill Simmons: Jaylen Brown
He really was trying to say JB is the next PG lmao
@@elik2580 JB will be better than Pg
@@jordan12118 3 months later and i agree with you. i wonder if Jaylen will eventually become a 1st option and try to leave Boston
@@elik2580 he’s going to be as good a PG. he’s already almost there
@@travisrowe7697 Paul George was getting as far in the playoffs in the East as the only star on his team as the Celtics are with 3-4. George didn’t do it alone or anything but he was definitely the only true star.
This draft is career-altering -injury heavy at the top
Great take. Wall, George, Hayward and Cousins all had major career altering injuries
True but the talent overrides the risk in some of these guys cases
Paul George’s injury is like scarred in my memory on team USA
Paul George's brain? lol
I read the comments so you don’t have to:
1. Bills audio sucks
2. Cousins > Hayward
3. Where’s Lance Stephenson
4. Bill “I used to have clippers tickets simmons”
5. This a good podcast
6. Bill should do 2011
And I’ll throw in:
7. Bill’s audio improves after the fourth pick.
Honestly rewarching these a few years later really gives you an appreciation for bill, allot of his takes have aged quite well.
He's fun to make fun of (Celtics, Clippers seasons tickets) but he knows his shit.
He should go back and do 2011, 2012, and 2013.
And revisit this series ten years after the class.
Nobody had accountability in Sacramento during those years. It's only Boogie you hear about though. Tyreke would not run plays. He would be zoned out some games. The coach threw Cousins under the bus, said he was being traded without any authority to say so and instead offiring him or suspending Cousins, they just did one game off for Cousins and put them back together in a disastrous scenario. Then you got some stability and order there with Malone, so they trade Isaiah Thomas for nothing because the GM had a vendetta against him & the coach, but the team still manages to get dragged into a winning record to start the season until Cousins gets sick, and they fire the coach. That left shrapnel and anger all over the team for years. George Karl was a nightmare.
Cousins gets hate for expressing what everyone was feeling all those years.
100% agreed.
Cousins does get a bad rap, but his situatuon was almost as bad as kg with the wolves
Hayward being drafted before him is laughable
They messed Evans. They started playing him at the SF when he was meant to be a point guard, but they never mentioned that
@@20marvelman That's because he wasn't good as a PG. He wasn't great at SF but he needed to learn how to be effective off the ball. He was a ball dominant guard in a league that no longer worked well with that.
Bill "If you play that guy's career again I think it goes differently" Simmons
He can do it for some but not others ..... so if oj mayo has a sober career he would have been crazy.... but nope
i tried to respect bill's takes but now its getting insane...he legit did not pick mario chalmers and picked javale mcgee in the 2008 draft even though he picked leon powe over some guys previously just for beating the lakers in a finals game....hes hard to take seriously at this point....
Its a valid point
Bring this series back please 🙏 im curious to see the 2011 draft and where yall would take IT
Last
Greivis vasquez!! I guess only Maryland & New Orleans remembers you..
I remember him in Memphis and Toronto as well.
The dude I would always use as my PG in 2k11-14.
He was dumb nice on NCAA09 and 10

Isn’t it weird that the best players in this draft all had bad injuries
No.
Not weird at all since everyone is injured these days at one point or another
Ryen "he has a little Bosh in him" Russillo
bosh is so underrated now..can't believe they really making him wait for the hall of fame...he deserved to go in ...11 time all star....
@@razkable how are they making him wait ? He didn’t retire Kobe’s year. And that’s the newest HOF class

Zach Lowe needs to be on all of these tbh
Lowe is the best
Thanks for the assist
Good looks!
I watched it and it was trash. Zach Lowe is a joke
This is the injury plagued draft. Paul George, John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, and Gordon Hayward all had major injuries.
Just how it goes in the sport. These days kids play games and tournaments year round, and start playing 82 game seasons at age 19. You gotta be incredibly lucky to avoid injury anymore.
yeah but we saw them all at their peaks before the injuries ..well pg peaked after them but still...hayward had some room to grow i guess but he was at his peak as a rebounder and scorer...for sure...
@@75aces97Not to mention the pace of the game is faster than in the 90’s and 00’s.
@@fortynights1513 pace is certainly a factor, but I'm convinced frequent minutes during developmental years is the bigger factor. Through the 1990s at least 40 guys played all 82 games, at least 10 of them were over 30. Even future hall of famers played 80 games into their 30s routinely. By 2005 only 26 players played all 82, and only 3 30-somethings. And it's dwindled since then. In 2022 only 5 guys played 82, only one who was 30.
When that generation of players who entered the draft after 1 year, or skipped college altogether, hit their 30s, not many of them could still hack 80 games anymore. That extra repetitive stress in their youth causes problems down the road. More Achilles tears, more ACL tears, bone spurs.
@@75aces97So after the mid 2000’s, we saw more players who came into the league with more mileage on them because they’d put in more minutes when training?
Also, I looked at the 2007-08 season (which had 19 players start 82 games, and still 33 players start 80 or more).
That season had nine players start 80+ games who were 30 or older, and none of those nine were playing power forward or center (back when positions were more clearly defined in general), and all but two of them were point guard or shooting guard.
Perhaps the players who were taller aged less gracefully?
Didn’t even bring up Lance Stephenson but y’all talking about Ed Davis, Jordan Crawford, Boban, & Quincy Pondexter? How?
Ed Davis and Jeremy Lin over Lance Stephenson....might be the worst picks over this entire series. It's legit getting worse and worse
misternogood honestly think they forgot he was in that draft
Ed Davis is still in the nba while lance is not lmao but continue
Adolfo Castillo your joking right? Ed Davis is career like 2 & 2 player. I never thought I’d see the day when someone is trying to defend Ed fucking Davis.
@@jimmynorwood524 😂😂😂
“Who knows, he might have his moment.”
Famous last words.
The fact that kentucky did not win a natty this year is absolutely ridiculous lmao. So much talent!
In no universe do I take Hayward over boogie. Boogie’s talent and proven ability alone makes him a top 3 pick. Hayward’s best szn does not come close to Boogie’s
Arjyarj white bias that's all it is
It might b a bit of bias, but we didn’t get a ton of good Cousins years before he became injury plagued, and ppl forget how good Hayward was at the end of his Utah stint
Casey S. just on talent and actual performances alone I’ll take boogie any day. Hayward was fortunate to be in a stable and ambitious franchise. Simmons and Russillo mentioned his temperament as an issue but even if you swap their teams we’re not having this discussion bcuz boogie’s in a healthier position with solid vets and coaches. it’s such a flawed argument
Arjyarj but I don’t want to be the Sacramento kings. I want a player like Hayward who can help win playoff games
How long are we going to blame Sacramento and not Boogie? If you're that good, you're dragging your team to the playoffs? Boogie was always just a Kevin Love in Minnesota
Drink every time Simmons says “I went to a Clippers game...” 🤣 🥃
I'm amazed that there's not a mention of Lance Stephenson. Not even as a joke
In and out of the league. Please let’s not act like he was a consistent 15 ppg player who help his team year in and year out lol
Adolfo Castillo nobody’s saying that at all. Plus I’m sure you can think of at least 3 badass Lance moments. Top 25 best handles all time imo
M so because he blew in lebrons ear that’s a badass moment ? Lmao !!!!! And I can name 25 players with better handles stop that. Y’all let them street basketball highlights get to y’all heads.
I thought he'd be a beast when he was at Cincinnati
NYC legend
Is Paul George this era's Scottie Pippen? One of the best players in the league, legit superstar, but better as a second banana.
Y'know what? Yeah no I'll take that
Idk if he was better as a second. Neither is Paul . I think they shine playing with good players. But Pippen is better.
I think that if he doesn’t have the gruesome ankle injury during USA basketball that he would have been in the top 5. Injuries like those are hard to come back from. The early Pacers yrs and the fact that he was in the MVP voting last year shows that he could’ve been a legit no. 1
Basically
it's so hard to say how great Pippen was because of Mj.
We NEED the 2011 re draft!
I wish they talked more about how a player would fit with a team and the mindset of the team at the time of the pick rather than how many points the player averaged in their career
Yeah, most players don't even spend most of their career with the team that drafted them. We should talk about what they were on the team that drafted them, and the fit around them.
Where in the hell is Joe House? Our Wiz have the first pick for cryin’ out loud! He pleaded to be on a GOOD draft! This qualifies! C’mon, Bill! Sheesh!
At this point, Ryen has got to be messing with us constantly ignoring the effect of bright light in the background ^^
I love these redrafts. They’re so fun, great to look back at what could of been for some of these teams.
They really messed up some of these picks doe...like in 99 they legit chose wally z over jason terry smdh....and they always mess up the bottom of the draft due to bias
I can’t get enough of these.
The Boogie disrespect
He went 4th in this draft 5th in real draft..... what you hate cause of Hayward?
I love boogie but let's be real... you cant trust him
Also sorry for being white.? I was born this way
Idc what you are. Why you hating
Ethan Niedorowski boogie at his peak was on a different level than Hayward ever was
@@joshnyamburi your right Hayward being a smart winning player an using all he had compared to someone who could take over any game but didnt that is always why he never wins.... an dont give me that golden state crap like he had anything to do with them being there. He was awesome also my favorite player outside out Boston. But he was not great. He was a stat stuffer on a bad team. An he took away more then he added... never being there kn defense.... or the other half of the game... takes 3s all day when he could dominate inside. An with his ability to pass. Also never used he should have been all time...
... he played like a better version of jello Okafor
Bill "I had Clippers season tickets" Simmons
Greg Monroe literally has zero memorable games lmao i hav to take whiteside and lance over him
Whiteside has been shafted by a lot of NBA analysts. He's legitimately good and doesn't deserve the hate he gets
Milap Mehta that’s a fact
Greg Monroe’s most memorable moment for me is the worst two minutes in playoff history for my sixers :/ 😔
@Lauffles I agree, he was terrible defensively in Portland. However, he did put up the best offensive year of his career with the defense so he gave you a net positive.
I don't know what he did in Miami to get on Spolstra's bad side, but he was legitimately good defender in his earlier Miami days who could shoot 60% from the field. There could have been some real value with him if you tried to build a team similar to the late 2000s Magic.
I see a Redraftables, I watch. Easy as that.
Your wife is cheating on you.
I LOVE THESE
Bring these back please!!!!!!
These have actually been really good pods. I hope Bill and Ryen do like nfl redrafts top 10 or something
their picks and reasoning have been awful at times...like they hating on certain guys....and overrate other guys...
These are surprisingly compelling as a series. Thought it would drag in pacing or something. But this was funny and interesting points. Makes one miss Grantland properly
Cousins slander is a bit harsh. Attitude or not he has a few years as a top 2-3 center in the league. Also those Sac teams have plenty of blame to go around.
I actually kind of liked this draft. Big fan of 2k11 so probably holds and extra special place in my mind.
Cousins was heavily disrespected in this redraft, would have been a hall of famer on any other franchise, and he was one of the three best centers of the 2010s I was there. Also pretty remarkable that 3 of the top 5 players in this draft are Kentucky guys
Nah dude was inefficient as hell for a Big Man and bad on defense.
@@elijahruderman inefficient???
@@steelwall4396 Look at his FG% and TS% in his prime compared to other good big men at the time.
@@elijahruderman true, but team context matters
He had next to nothing to play off of. Sac couldn't really play an inside out game with him and he wasn't a good enough a playmaker to make tight passes under pressure
He's no Olajuwon, but he's still a fantastic scorer. This same thing happens to every star though
5:18 well he blew it at the bubble but this season he was amazing. What a playoffs he s had. He legit led his team in some extremely difficult games to eliminate Utah and then take Phoenix to 6 games which realistically should have been a game 7 and a possible win there with a finals appearance
Even if you forget about the Lance Stephenson snub, I still have no idea how you take Ed Davis with the 9th pick. He is a career 6.3 PPG and 6.7 RPG while shooting 58% FT.
I would much rather have Lin, Turner, Patterson, Aminu and Whiteside.
Oh shit, I actually remember this one!
Ed Davis is always like my 13th pick in nba 2k19 fantasy draft, he seems to always be available and the best forward/center combo with high block rating and low salary cap hit.
Idk bruh Hayward over Boogie ??? 🤨🤨🤨
Hayward just won more games 🤷🏻♂️ now pelicans boogie over jazz Hayward for sure, but that was sadly only one year...
Parker Elliott Boogie was the best center in the league in Sac town, playing for the worst organization in the NBA. It doesn’t matter how good you are when everything from the top down on the team you play for is bad. Unless you’re LeBron.
Cousin's has never been reliable really. Hayward before the injury was kind of poster boy good behaviour and whatnot. That's pretty valuable to teams who pay these guys alot. But also, Cousins has some pretty consistent weaknesses in defense being slow . Hayward is an all around positive, even if you may say Cousins has more offensive presence.
Hayward should not go over Boogie. That’s just Bill giving a white guy some luv. Just like him taking Love over D Rose. He might go Jimmer Fredette over Kyrie the next show lol
Will Thompson I think top end talent boogie has the edge for sure, he’s almost unicorn level where he has some major skill for a center, but the Kings tried everything they could to get boogie to work, drafted and traded for players based on his skill set, he had a role in coaching decisions even, the only time boogie didn’t agree with what management did, the firing of Mike Malone, it caused him to leave... so it’s not like the Kings werent trying to make him work out there
Best channel out there
Im super intrigued to see a 2011 redraftables. So many good players in that draft
Then do your own doofus
Someone remeber danny granger ? I feel like he having the injury also help pg get more minutes and the ball, if those pacers had a healthy granger in those conference finals they reach the finals, and in not even a pacers fan.
Hayward? During his Jazz time, the whole team runs plays for him, without that system, he is not even an all star type of player, he is good, but that's it, even when he is healthy...
Sounds about right. Utah showcased him, he made ASG, got some paydays. Good, but not all-league good. That's what he is.
Where is 2011?
when are there gonna be more of these?
This is the first draft where I really started paying a lot of attention to the NBA and became a diehard. So glad they got to this one.
Gordan Hayward, John Wall over Cousins?
Cousins is a loser
Are we ever going to get any more of these?
I hope Ryen uses the criteria of "he was out there" in the future
Damn they really hate Whiteside LOL
As a westbrook fan, Paul George forced a trade after he already resigned. Now they got a future. And as a thunder he finished 3rd in MVP voting
Back to back first round exits
Man this class was the victim of injury Cousins, Paul, Hayward, and Wall all got injured damn
Is this the last one? Are they gonna do anymore after 2010?
that 2018 pelicans team had a better record after Cousins was injured.
Someone send this video to 2k so they can lower whiteside's overall please
They’ve still got him higher than BAM lmao, the All Star that ran away w his job, and however many other centers that are obviously better than him
PRH Eagles it’s so dumb, dude is really OP
Ronnie2k doesn’t care
Wish they kept doing these
Why is bills mic just not even on? Lol
When Favors came out, people were comparing him to Duncan, I remember that clearly.
Drop off at number 5. But the audio really picks up.
Why was Bill Simmons kicked off ESPN? His analysis is so spot on
Boogie was the easy #1 pick his peak was higher than everyone else in this draft except maybe PG
Avwry Bradley's ideal backcourt mate is a big playmaking SG. Sounds like James Harden.
They should do a re-draft for 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.
27:52 I feel you Russillo.
The Kings ruined Cousins's career and idk how you can argue otherwise.
A disaster organization that was Sacramento back then was definitely not a good fit for the immature Boogie. But don’t assume that Boogie had no responsibility for where he is today. As talented as Boogie was to watch, it was equally, and at times more frustrating, to see him pout and cry like a baby every single game. He needed a more stable & mature organization like the Spurs to teach him responsibility and accountability. 🤷♂️
Cousins ruined his career 🤔

bill legit just does these drafts to hate on lebron mention his clipper fandom and bring up the celtics ..i swear...thats what happens every draft...hees pretty ignorant as is ryen on everything else
DeMarcus Cousins is the best/the worst player I can think off. He had elite big man skills in some really important areas of the game and on top of that he literarly had guard skills. He can dribble, pass,he was fast, agile, atlethic etc. But in some other areas he was absolutly trash. What's sad about it is that more than half of it was his attitude. That guy, with a better brain would be an all-time great player. He was that skilled.
Sacramento was too trash for Cousins. He needed to be on a team with some structure and a veteran presence. He couldn’t be so far and away the best player on his team that no one could say anything to him.
16:47 so true 😂😂
Agree 100% on the Favors take I’ve been thinking that since that draft
the greg monroe pick is madness lol
Someone teach Ryan how to set up a home studio my eyes are burning
Lol I didn’t watch the video, just listened until I read this comment, now it bothers the mess outa me
I never thought of this class as notably bad, but if you're down to Greg Monroe at #8 already, that ain't great. Already out of all stars at #5. Yikes.
Paul George's 24 stats look pretty similar to his 13 stats. I think any diminishing might just be age.
How the hell is Ed Davis ever considered better than Whiteside. Whiteside was a top 5 center for almost 2 yrs
Wall and Beal or Lillard and McCollum? Who would u rather have?
i feel like Whiteside should've been picked. like even at 8 or 9 or something. i understand his play didn't translate to much winning, but at some point skill wins out. averaged 17 and 14 at his peak with elite shot blocking
But yet...he has been on winning teams.
But I think 2011 nba draft is one of the best ong 2003 and 96
Multiple of these guys are champions already
It was not Paul Georges achilles WTF, it was his leg
Pretty sure Ewing did shoot around 46% a few years...
What is this? Open mic night?
Had no idea how bad this draft is overall. Top few picks are good but not deep at all
That's what hits me when I listen. I don't think of this as a bad class, probably because it was sandwiched between a few good ones, but when you go over it, by #9 or 10 any players you'd want are already fished out.
I like the top players in this class (Wall, George, Cousins, Bledsoe) more than most fans, but I have to admit they're probably a little overrated.
I see some of y'all asking about 2009
Simmons did that with Zach Lowe, so there might not be any proper video of it
I think the recording is on CZcams tho
It is, appreciate the heads up 👌🏻
