    If she wants to change her mind, simply pick everything back up with the chosen card on top and go right back into your second deal. It's a logical continuation of how she is choosing her card.

    I actually think that it would be stronger if you had (in the acaan) stoped when she sad stop and not dealt the selection. To leave it on top, to give spectator time to go down and burn that its really the "next" card, on top of the deck. I think you did it a little bit in a hurry.
    PS. LOVE this kind of videos!

      I dont quite agree, the closer the card is to the deck the more chances of it being switched in a layman's head id say

    • @detectivejonesw
      @detectivejonesw Před 2 lety

      I would think that the most likely way of it being interpreted is that when they say stop it's the card that has just been dealt, so it is important to deal the card or if possible, deal it when they are about to say stop

    When I perform I always have an ID with me (so I switch decks during performance). The ID is good when someone changes their mind, as you can then reveal their first chosen card during the trick you are busy with and explain that you knew they would change their mind to another card. Then you reveal a second deck with their card reversed.
    What you did at the end - One last time: "You had the dupe queen of hearts in your pocket, so I'm sure you had her return it to the middle, controlled it to the bottom and stole it (or just left it in the deck) and then cleanly removed the dupe from your pocket. Miracle achieved...
    Thanks for the cool tips!

    Great content, Alex! I love hearing about your thought process and the little nuances of the performance. Please, more of this. As for the next trick, perhaps you placed QH second from top, did a double lift as a convincer dealt the top card (random or maybe not) face down and had her cover it up. Knowing that she is a waitress you could offer to leave her a tip (not sure how to get that into a conversation) which provides a reason to go to your wallet where you discover her card.

    1)If she changed her mind I would repeat the trick, leave the king on the table and now they found 2 cards which is more amazing than just 1. To even take it a step further, if there is time, say that I will choose the third card, without having revealed the 2 already found, then reveal all 3 pointing out that she found the king, changed her mind and found the second card and then when I gave her a card to find she was able to find even that
    2) With the bottom or top option, if she had said bottom you could leave the queen on top, have her look at the bottom card to find it not be the queen. Then remind her that the card went into the deck face up, so the "bottom" is actually the top, where the queen is
    3) Since there is a queen of hearts already in the wallet, I would completely destroy the one used for the ambitious card and then have it restored in the wallet moments later
    4) Awesome video, really enjoy this kind of walkthrough of your routine. Many subtleties can get overlooked

    for the last phase, sometimes if the mood is right I would go into some effect inspired by Peter turner and talk about how all of this is relies on imagination and belief. then I'd say that the card (or in this case two cards) are now actually the only two cards missing in the deck and she can either choose to believe in it or she can be sceptical and look into the deck.
    Also as a little subtlety since her bag was near, I would put the card(s) in her bag without saying anything, she would find a souvenir after she's gone whenever she decides to open her bag.

  • @westbengaladibasimedicosas7080

    I like so much your videos bcz u , unlike other youtubers , don't just teach moves...U perform near people and then break it down like this...I really wanted such card routines ...
    I think at the third time you must do a color change,that would change the queen into king...U would again trap them in some kind of story, during which u would cull the king second from the top and then perform the duck change...Or u could move totally from the track and perform the 'the trick that never happened'...
    ...I know u know better than me obviously, 😅😅, still a little idea to share,i think ,if u started the performance by doing some set up trick e.g card at any number tricks which are far more powerful than these, then the beautiful lady 😍 would have been spell bound!!!😊😊😊😊

    I can't say anyting else that my fellows already did. Just amazing you are. Just one question, didn't catch well the movement from being the deck facing up to the facing down deck with the spectator card on top. Could you explain it? because what i'm thinking is that you just turn the top deck and move the first card as it was the spectator card and after that you turn the bottom deck and put on top the other. Is just like that? Thanks for all your effort and time invested on us and on magic.By the way, if you allow me, completely different thing, but I say again, if you allow me, one more question. I ve seen a haunted deck trick, no problems with this one, but at the end, the deck flows from the ground to the hand of the standing up magician. Do you what kind of gimmik is strong enough to do that? Thanks again

  • @detectivejonesw
    @detectivejonesw Před 5 lety

    What to do if they change their mind...
    Tough question. My first thought would be to have my deck in stack and work out where the card they change their mind to is and do some kind of switch. Or spread through the deck and cut it to the top. You could allow them to turn over the wrong card and then do a top change. Or you could interpret 'change your mind' in a different way, eg repeat the procedure to land on the new card, or classic force the new one

    I would say for the 3rd trick because you know she said Q of Hearts then you could take advantage of that new card selection and do some pocket reveal of the card but in a really clean way because the card is already in your pocket.

  • @igorsvacic217
    @igorsvacic217 Před 5 lety +13

    if she had changed her mind, well, perhaps this: you take the selection and "laser deal" it to the pile on the table (the whole deck was there at that point, and its messed up, so, perfect, no way she would notice you didnt left the card, you can easily "aim" somewhere and even disturb some card while you do it so she wouldnt know which one you had "left"). Than, you change the clipped card into tenkai. Than ask to show any other card on the pile. You slide it toward you, you can easy do it even with dirty hand. And then you do simple change, go from the front to turn the chosen card, in the slide motion, while going for the card (from the front!) you just hit that one with the selection in "angled" tenkai (or back to clip) to slide it off the table and lap it and just turn the "palmed" card.
    Even better, ask if she want to change mind again, hopefully she do, and you can even go with "lets see" and then with "good you did, since it wasnt your card" and repeat the process of showing another card from pile, sliding it back,etc.....
    Too complicated?
    Yea, to explain :)
    To execute not so much

I am just a BIG fan of magic, mostly close up, and altrough it is perhaps even stupid and pointless, I do like to think about magic, theory, sleights, taking allready existing rotines and simplifying them, or changing them completely and doing them with other sleights (easyier mainly).

    If she changes her mind, I guess I will keep the card face down aside, take the rest of the cards and spread them in my hands, locate the card they changed to, and cull it to the top. After that, the card which was kept aside can be revealed as the card they named at first, and then I can do a color change or a top change to reveal the card they named after changing their mind. Spreading the cards in my hand can be suspicious, but I guess adding a joke there may be misdirecting...or any other misdirection to not bring much attention to the spreading of cards. And your second deals are epic!!

    If she had of changed her mind, i'd pick the deck back up, top change card on an off beat or in the motion of pointing to the already dealt pile and throw 'her' card (now switched for indifferent) onto the dealt pile face down and continue second dealing until she said stop again. Thoughts?

    Hey alex, great video as always! Would you mind telling us the name of the move you're doing at 5:45 ? I managed to figure it out by rewinding a few times but i would like to learn it some more and just can't find its name for my research. A tutorial could be super amazing but even just the name of the move will be plenty of help! Thanks! Big fan of your work!

    I think the last phase is the card to wallet phase, because you said you always have a QoH in your wallet?

    i would bring it up to my hand and do maybe a top change or something so that the card is switched, then i would put it on the table saying like "okay, so we will leave it there and check if the card you said first is in the deck so that we know that the card on the table is not the card that you said first". then i would look at the cards without the spectator looking and find the card that the spectator said, curl it to the top and then taking out the first card that the spectator said. After the spectator saw the first card i would take the random card at the table doing another change and reveal it. now this might not be as good as if the spectator did not change their mind, but i still think that it would be a pretty good way to fix everything

    I would've done a card to pocket/wallet with the queen of hearts especially since you already had one up on that.

    Love the face and tuck of the snake oil, the back is a no sale. Wish he had gone with the tuck theme.
    BTW, I thought HOPC out of business because almost nothing was in stock, and more significantly, multiple attempts to send emails to multiple addresses on the website came back "Undeliverable".

    Hey Alex, I don't know what u did after that but if you would've palmed the queen of hearts, showed it's gone from the deck, and then reveal the queen in you pocket.
