I wonder why NBC cut the first five minutes of this meeting. Could it be because they talked about the death rate of nursing home patients? Could it be because DeSantis held up a chart that showed Florida had a 1% death rate in nursing homes and New York had a 14% death rate?

The lie about availability of testing is insulting. As a front line worker on 2 fronts, I work in medical and distribution. As my potential exposure alone should be grounds for a test, but I've been refused since day one due to lack of testing capacity.

did you know that the budget for the year of 2019-20 for the State of Florida had risen 2.7% a near 92 billion dollar? the fiscal year for 2020-21 will begin in june noone knows how much the state budget will be as the cares act has significantly altered every state's course.So mr desantis instead of bringing mr trump's favorite ice cream should be more concerned about the budget for the fiscal year as there are no goodies left for the state in the cares act.
I'm wondering if Florida's citizens have higher vitamin D levels. They are possibly out in the sun more frequently, even by accident, since it's often sunny there. Florida is also closer to the equator, which is a location where the sun provides more vitamin D (UVB) sunrays.
Why vitamin D? Because it helps the lungs, helps the immune system, and is involved in stimulating the less-inflammatory part of the immune system. All those patients passing away from COVID19-related pneumonia had *lots* of inflammation --> which is the fluids filling their lungs.

I doubt the ventilator as a device was truly the cause of death, more likely that the stress of intubation on an already struggling person is being vaguely attributed to the cause of death. huh i live in central florida and the ER near me has a covid-19 testing tent that is empty everytime i have driven by for last 5 weeks. usually 2 ppl with masks standing out there waiting for ppl to get testing.

Here’s the problem with what they are doing on I-4. By the time they actually finish the mass construction projects going on in and around Orlando Florida, the population is going to expand and they’re going to have to start another project which only brings congestion and frustration to people who live in Orlando.

The size, diversity, population and governmental set up of the US has been underappreciated by us as a strategic concern for handling a pandemic. We delude ourselves if we deny the weaknesses that are so clearly seen in our ebb and flow responses to covid.
It was a mistake to dismiss the threat of a biological attack, from a human or from Mother Nature, just as it was a mistake to dismiss the possibility of a terrorist attack in 2001.
We need to see our excessive arrogance and blind pride of our "greatness" in more humble terms, if only to spare ourselves from the falls we bring on ourselves when we trip over our inflated egotistic assumptions of our brilliance. Maybe we should ask our bellyaching to at least refer to us as a whole people rather than to each other or to our politicians (hard, I know) at least 50% of the time. Cut down on the blame game, ramp up the constructive dialogue, recognize our heros, thank our unnamed Samaritans, take a deep breath and trudge on.
