- The thought of remixing this song excited me, those lovely harmonies and stellar guitars over the never too much but sturdy rhythm of "Tin Man". I really feel like this song, a little sad and wistful and got right on it. I wasn't going to upload today as I was going to stop on the 17th, and here it is on the 18th and a late in the day upload. It perfectly compliments my mood these days, feeling calmer bit by bit and remembering how I felt when I first heard this tune.
America has become a pet project of mine on this channel and I have done several of their songs which were popular in my youth at the age of 14. Looking back, I did not have big plans about anything, just getting through school and taking the summers to kick it around with the neighborhood gang. It was like both parents were working and that left four families of kids on their own during the day monday to friday during summer vacation. We pretty much did what we wanted in the big group of us, the oldest was 16 and the youngest was 8, boys and girls almost evenly split.
I was the next oldest at 14 and remembered we all got along really well, there was absolutely no drama when we kids were along. This one came out in August 24, 1974 that time of the year you are reminded that September is coming with cooler nights and school starting up the first Monday after Labor Day. Even at my young age, I felt the song....it was peaceful and thought provoking to use a character from "The Wizard Of Oz" as the subject of a song. The song peaked at #4 in September of 1974 and was a joy to listen to as a freshman in high school.
That is one thing about this channel, is that it is cathartic for me to hear those older songs and it reminds me how hopeful I was. They help to keep me balanced and ground me, as I hope they do you.

DEWEY BUNNELL: “Tin Man” was manufactured from the chunks of thoughts and themes that I was putting together into a kind of mosaic. It wasn’t a common thread.
“Horse With No Name” was a dialogue; it’s a story from the first day to the last day and what it was.
“Ventura Highway” has certainly got a thread, a chain. But with “Tin Man,” I think you have to break it up into chunks that were going through my mind at the time to understand it.
I originally wanted to write a cohesive dialogue about The Wizard of Oz, which I loved. It was my favorite movie as a kid and it’s still one of my Top Ten. I probably even would go so far that if someone said “What’s your favorite movie of all time?” I might go there.
The song is like surrealism, which was a genre of art that was always mesmerizing for me. There’s the whole psychedelic thing, coming out of the Sixties, the Woodstock generation, opening your eyes, expanding your mind and looking at things differently. We really did, we were a straight culture out of the Fifties. It was all black and white.
“Sometimes late when things are real and people share the gift of gab between themselves/ Some take the bait and catch a perfect prize that waits among the shells.”
That was about just sitting around, when things are real and people share the gift of gab. We did a lot of sitting around talking about things and listening to albums. - Hudba
One of the best bands of their area.
Yes the seventy,s was the best decade of music!

Great Dance Places, Great Music.I truly miss those days, life did seem simpler, less complicated than today. I was alot younger then 😅🎶🎵🎶🎸🎹🤗🥰💕❤💕

Tin man once he got oil , his journey was to find his heart , he had it all along .
Another Band definitely deserve Consideration for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame LEGENDS 2023
they deserve more than just consideration, its criminal there not in
I was in High School when this came out!😔 Our innocent time, life was simple because we didn't know any better!💖
To the days we thought would last forever!!💓
I was 15 when I knew it, I love it!!! My sons love it too after 30 years...
Love this song. Was going into my senior in high school. Just a great song. Good times.
Nothing like soft rock to mellow you out after a hard day at work. Whenever I've had a stressful day; I like to put on a song that just gives you that vibe to slow down and relax. The harmonies are also a calming influence. This song has all those attributes I look for in a destressing tune. That and a good stiff drink lol. Works for me.☺🧡💙💜👌🥃
Like Motown, Atlantic and soul music, such music like America, Seals & Crofts, Doobie Brothers, Carly Simon, Olivia Newton-John, and all the rest are just my speed. I would love this music for the rest of my natural life!
Ok oppoo

@@Vendzor I'm right there with you man. Kick back and and enjoy the breeze 😎
Beautiful classic......
I grew up in the 70s the music of the late 60s and the 70s was the greatest of all the rock n roll R & B , blues and Jazz
3:22 - 3:32
That piano play is hauntingly, mystically flawless, and sends my mind out of this reality.
Love it.
They all brought legendary tunes in '74.
Wow.
Such an underrated band. Should be the rock and roll hall of fame
Love these remixes. Handled with total class. 👏👏
I was 15 years old in 1974. The volume definitely went up on the radio when 'Tin Man' was played, great song and memories.
Wonderful Song , i believe It made an era ...this extended version makes me to feel a new emoticon...thanks a lot for posting .
This is the best version of Tin Man. I was also 14 in 74' when it was released. West Coast Rock. Thanks for sharing the fruits of your labor. We are the beneficiaries.
Sooooo soothing.....
George Martin on piano, what a bonus for a lovely track RIP
I was just a5 year old kid when this was out long live the 70s
Great song, phenomenal group.
Thank you So Much! So many good memories! ... R. I. P. Aunt P.!! I ♡ u! and miss you!💚🌹🎶♥️
America's songs are so soothing ... 🌸🌱🍃
Especially this one !
I love your remix so much 💚🧡💛
I saw them in concert in Madrid Spain many years ago. Interesting story behind the band. US Air Force brats in England. It was at a private rock club in a shady side of the city, but not that bad, and it took some serious convincing my ex husband to take me, but then ran into plenty of friends. Basically it was a much quieter area of city at night, didn't see any people on the streets. That's why considered less safe. They deserved a much bigger crowd of the same type of people, but I was able to stand in front of the stage almost the whole time, when not standing at the bar with others.
Beautiful song. Please keep upload.
Outright downright feelgood Music.
All the whole thing,
the band work and vocals,
raving groove tune
masterpiece.
Sit at the edge of your seat.
This extended song "Tin Man" is living proof that music soothes the savage beast.

Still hopeful for sister golden hair someday too

I remember what I was doing when that song came out, all the great songs by America. 🎶🎵🎶❤❤ Wonderful Group, wonderful times way back then in S.F. Bay Area of California. And who I was seeing way back then. WOW, memory lane, so very long ago!! 😮😅🤗🥰
Driving to Berkeley from Sac in my old dodge…going to visit my girlfriend on campus…this song playing on the RADIO….not a worry in the world…how I miss those days…
Great Song 🤩🥳🤩
Fantastic song 👍💯💯💯💯
I sang this at karaoke years ago. It's such a gorgeous song and makes me think of sitting out with friends or family on a summer night, watching fireflies. America is such an underrated band.
the 70s were great...the 80s were the best...then the 90s, 00s and music took a turn to the crappy side and it just keeps getting worse as each passing year goes on. thank God we have the songs of 70s and 80s (and even the 60s).
I concur totally
Preach!!!
I was still young in the 80s and I enjoyed the music, but best? You mean better than 70s and 60s music? No.
@@Lvatopesado lol...YES 80's were the BEST
Ooo saudades. Anos Dourados.
Verdade amigo.
I too was a freshman DJDiscocat when this came out in September, ‘74. That was a great year for music. Thanks for this mix. I play the piano but lately have picked up a little guitar. I’ve always loved the pattern here but have to admit, it’s a bit beyond me. Really appreciate hearing more of that without the vocal. Cheers
Um espetáculo à parte!!!!
America. Tin man my Favorite I love America!
Dewey Bunnell.. Gerry Beckley.. Dan Peek.. (RIP)...DAN.. I love you America!
Contudo, ficou EXCELENTE!! VERY GOOD!! EXCELLENT!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤
This song is the best song to travel to it relieves the heart and soul of all who listens even babies. If your child is upset play it you'll see.
Love this song, thank you ❤❤❤
George Martin's second most famous band that he worked with. Great tune.
Simplesmente incrível. 😘
America one of my favorite groups in highschool. I remember buying this 45. Lonely People. Sister Golden Hair. 🎸🎸🎸
Always this song make me cry 😪.
Long sigh of happiness as I reflect back to chilaxin’ in Summer of 1974 listening to the Tin Man. Thank you for the cool mix. It is good to listen to good music 🎶 and reminisce of days gone.
Oh this is bliss. Thank you for this superb remix of a truly timeless track.
Never heard this before but it's just started to rain really hard here in uk and for some reason it just fits.
😊
Once again, you did it Sir! Nice work! Love this version.
Wooooo, this is delicious! Another classic that was in need of that Midas touch and you did not disappoint! I'm loving this!
I hope you visit the Eagles One of these nights and do your magic with the beginning of that one. I was listening to it in the car, on the way home today and could not help but imagine the greatness that will come from it. I am a big Eagles fan not to mention lol!
Omg that would b awesome! I’m
going to check and see if he’s done that song!
There you go again evoking my some of childhood memories DJDiscoCat with this beautiful record, I was ten years old when I first heard on the radio, Thank you!!!

Very Nice Superb Song and Quality👌👌👌 🌹🌹🌹
Loved 😍 this group as a child . The words were really 👌 hitting my imagination . Beautiful 😍
I was 4 years old and still remember hearing that song when it first came out. Beautiful song! Thank you 🙂
You know, although I have heard songs from America back in the early to mid 1980s like “A Horse With No Name”, “Sister Golden Hair”, “I Need You”, “Ventura Highway”, “You Can Do Magic” (which was the first song I ever heard from America, as an 80s kid born in the mid 1970s), I can honestly say the very first time I heard this song was roughly 17 years ago. Jeez….. It seems like it was only a few years ago, but 17 years ago? Damn….. But yeah, that’s the first time I heard “Tin Man” on the radio. And that’s also the same year when I also heard of another great tune called “Daisy Jane”. I don’t know how I missed those two songs. That same year I even purchased one of their greatest hits on CD 💿 and been loving their music much more since.
Thank you so much!!! ...💜💋💚💋💛
the songs you revisit and sprinkle with purrfection is a remind of old AM radio and then you make my memories a bit longer and a bit of time to reflect and enjoy
So good thanks!
