I have no idea I can't get it, But I'll tell you I'm not thrilled about the way they're doing it now. I'm sorry but to give it to only to children with autism is ridiculous, they're not paying for their attractions in the vacations the adults are and there are adults that need that DAS service. There's other places that go in Florida and the United States besides Disney World.

I thought you cannot ask for actual formal proof documents in the US? ADA rule of privacy or emotional protection or something like that?
I have used a DAS equivalent for the Tokyo Disney parks, but it requires forms with medical paperwork filled by a doctor and time for that to be reviewed by the park. I also have to answer at each ride what tasks I can perform (standing, follow instructions, sit, walk a step, etc).
Of course, there is also the rule that if I am lying about my condition, or my documents are faked, I would be ejected from the park and not allowed a disability pass again.
I am surprised Disney Parks America did not have a rule about lying already and it's only added with these new changes.

As an actual permanently Disabled person i have found for years that the Disney corporation has discriminated against disabled people for many years, i live only 11 miles from Disneyland and have been going there since before i remember and after i became disabled and electric wheelchair bound it was more important to my emotional and physical health then ever to have a place to go where it was park like with trees and hope and happiness to provide positivity for my life dealing with several life threatening illnesses, but when Disney started literally "cracking" down on disabled people i no longer felt welcome and it became a place of negativity for me to the point where i went less and less then i stopped altogether and havent gone back in years and now i have nowhere to go and spend my days laying in my bed. Now i have been paying attention to all that has been reported so far and i feel that this is almost a "war" Disney has started against the sick and injured, why, why is that? To say to the public that only people who are Autistic are to be considered "disabled" shows an outright ignorance of even the most rudimentary medicine i can only come to the conclusion that they dont want someone making a noisy "fuss" in a long line that might annoy other people in line. But now i am hearing horror stories how Disney is sometimes not even allowing Autistic people to be helped out so that they dont have to be in long lines what is that all about? There are hundreds of "hidden" illnesses that make people with them have a very hard time dealing with day to day life. I could go on for hours about people being told to "well wear diapers then" or "practice being immobile in a long line at home first so you can get used to it" etc etc but i dont need to clearly Disney Corp is blatantly Discriminating against the Disabled for their profit and feel they are too "big" for any one to do anything about it, I call on everyone who is negatively affected by all this to find out all the things they can do to put a stop to this contact local, state and federal offices that protect the ones who can protect themselves not so I or others like me can go and spend a lot of money at this corporations venues I dont want to go anywhere near these places anymore but to stop this sort of inhumane treatment of those who still have a wish or a dream that life can be hopeful no matter how ill you may be.

DAS isn't a legal requirement for ADA. They really don't have to offer it at all. If your in a wheelchair the park has already met the requirements for wheelchair use. Unless you have another issue than just having to use a wheelchair for mobility than it doesn't mean you can't wait in line.

I'm sorry and I don't mean to say this in a rude manner but to give the DAS to only children who have autism is not appropriate, some of these children are not able to utilize many of the attractions. The way I look at it Disney is becoming a company that is slowly getting away from customer service and only wanting money. They may not give you the DAS pass but you can sure pay for a lightning lane to get on that ride if you want to. The thing that bothers me the most about restricting the DAS so much it cost Disney nothing to give that to someone You're only giving someone a lightning lean pass one or two times a day depending on the wait times. It's not our fault that people were abusing this or it's not other people's fault that so many people were utilizing it. DAS is a service and people were using it.

Just to take your comment about a heart transplant, while I do not know exactly about a heart, I can tell you I know someone on the kidney transplant list who is listed as disabled by state, but he has no issues waiting in queues. I guess I do not understand your point a lot here. Seems like a lot of social media and speculation. You can cancel as well within 30 days. The policy isn't that restrictive. Thats also a social media thing thats just not true. I guess I should have waited until the end, DIsney World has also removed many of the second touch points, some still have them, but the rumor is that Disney is attempting to remove all second touch points. @@HappyTravelVlogs some yes. Sone come off as the reason why Disney made the changes. I honestly think it will work itself out. But it will only work if people try the other accommodations being suggested instead of just saying they won’t work. I saw a story today about a person complaining their mother wasn’t granted one because she cannot stand and is in a scooter. To me that shouldn’t have gotten a das for the last 10 years. At least since the GAC system. Yet they did.the post honestly read like the family was using the elderly mother. Then yes you read one who has uncontrolled type 1 diabetes and they want part of the family to wait separate. That I don’t agree with. But the thing is it’s something like 60% of visitors have a disorder, condition or disability that many say should be blanket acceptance. That’s an insane number. Then add family to that. So that’s why disney asks. Why you cannot wait in a traditional line. Then they make the accommodations from there. Only way to say their suggestions other than das doesn’t work is to first try. Then if it doesn’t work call in while there. Instead of automatically assuming they won’t work and going to social media to vent. Some stories are hard to read. Others are understandable for Disney to try to figure out a new system. When they got rid of GAC a decade ago. If you read the reasons they were changing it is almost identical to today. It’s just there was no or limited social media. People were saying das won’t be as accommodating as GAC but it didn’t turn out that way now. So let’s just see how it plays out.

I'm disgusted by this as an autistic teenager. Disney is one of my special interests and I was so excited for my trip next year but now I doubt I am going to qualify.
It's not just being denied, its the WAY we are being denied. The fact some random ass non-autistic person gets to decide who is "autistic enough" to get a DAS is absolutely sickening. I have a professional diagnosis from an actual doctor. That is enough proof. End of story. Cast member's personal bias over autism will 100% affect who they decide to give DAS to, so if you aren't Sheldon Cooper then you really don't have a chance. Due to being late diagnosed, I am used to masking, so therefore I don't present stereotypically autistic but I DO get sensory overload and need DAS. Being older, being female, or even being a POC could affect your chances since you dont fit within the stereotype of autism the cast member has in their head. Autism is a SPECTRUM, and there is no way someone who works at DISNEY for a living would be able to determind your needs in a 20 minute conversation.
And they are 100% doing this for the money. If they are worried about people faking, then just ask for offical proof of diagnosis from a doctor! Thats very hard to fake and will have all the information about the persons needs available to read. Plus its way more private and professional. I could probably ask for a doctors note/email from my therapist right now if they need more recent proof. But no, they are going to deny pretty much everyone so they buy the overpriced service.
And the fact that there is now in-fighting in disability spaces is so disappointing. Its times like this where disabled people and their families should be working TOGETHER to protest! Not having immature fights over whos more disabled than the other. My trip is 14 months away so I hope there will be some changes by then but my heart goes out to all my fellow disabled people who will be affected by this.

Profoundly disabled people are getting whatever little extra services they get taken away because they are overused by people that have abilities they don't have. @alienfrograbbit5310 Pƙed 2 dny

@katystrawberry8654 What are you on about? My ability to write a paragraph is completely different from my ability to wait in a line. One is intellectual, and one is physical. I wrote this paragraph from the comfort of my own home, in a controlled, stress free and non-sensory environment. How is that anything like waiting in a line outside, in an environment I cannot control, with a billion different things to causing me to have a sensory meltdown. Plus, I'm not PAYING to be in my house. I'm paying to be in Disney, so I deserve to be treated with equity as per the service that is advertised.
I do understand the concept of a line, most people applying for DAS do. It's not understanding it thats the problem, it's the physical ability to wait in it. Thinking about doing something is a lot different than actually doing it. I'm sure you UNDERSTAND the concept of a marathon, but that doesn't mean you are able to run it. I have a disability that make high stress and sensory environments 10x worse then people with no disability. How is that related to my ability to write a paragraph. Asking me to 'learn how to wait' is like asking me to 'learn how to not be autistic' which is impossible.
You can't judge what you think I am and aren't able for based of something a wrote on the Internet. The Internet is very different from real life. You don't know me in real life, you've never seen me have a meltdown, and you don't know how long it took me to write that paragraph, so you cannot make any assumptions based off the superficial version of myself I put out on the Internet.
And like I said, autism is a SPECTRUM. It presents in a myriad of different ways. Saying 'you know how to write so therefore you aren't severely autistic' is stereotyping. Different autistic people are capable of different things. Some may be fine waiting in a line, but struggle with intellectual stuff. And some may be the opposite, like me. We are all effected in different ways, but that does not make anyone more important then the other.
I'll say it again. I am autistic. I get sensory overload and therefore struggle waiting in lines. So I deserve a DAS like every other disabled person. I know me much better then you do, and if you don't want to believe me for whatever reason then I can't stop you, but stop pretending that you know me better then myself, my parents and my therapist (who all agree I need get sensory overload) because you DONT.
Side note: My younger sister also has autism and other learning disabilities. She is what you would call 'profoundly autistic' and I've spent most of my life with her. Her disability has affected my life quite a bit, and there are many times where her needs were treated as more important as my own. Which led to me not getting the support and diagnosis I need till later in life since all the attention on her. I love my sister to bits, but don't you dare come at me with 'spend more time with profoundly disability people' because I HAVE, so stop pretending you know anything about my life.

I haven't done it yet but we're going to call for ours in the next week. We were approved last year, I'm worried we won't be now. I KNOW I wouldn't be (I have ADHD that makes lines unbearable, I will literally leave someplace before I'll stand in a line longer than 5 mins lmao), but my kid has high functioning autism and severe social anxiety and OCD (germaphobia type) that makes standing in line with a bunch of other people panic inducing at times. She's an adult though, so I'm thinking they won't approve-in which case, I don't think we're going to go. It'd be a waste of money :(

@@caripage9327 PLease let us know when you call. I have heard so many things from others on other forums and its all been a horrific experince of being told that our disabilties are not disabilities.

Happy to provide proof. Also officially governmental card showing difficulty in queues. We have cancelled 2 upcoming trips due to fear of being rejected. Let's call things what they are. This was never about abuse from some people of the system which btw Disney created when removing FP+. It is literally all about selling more Genie+. They should review their keys which they claim to stand for or be honest and let us cancel if we get denied but to avoid that, that's why they won't allow earlier registration.

Being disabled as I am, I have no problem with paying for convenience. I’m already paying thousands to go. People need to stop whining because it sounds to me like they’re entitled. The parks are ADA compliant. My wheelchair fits perfectly through all the rides, and let’s not forget about all the lines and walking that you are doing in the park that are not attractions. If you don’t like it, then you should not go. There are plenty of places to go on vacation, but this is a theme park. DAS should be for the terminally ill folks only because their time is very very limited.

Not all disabilities are alleviated with wheelchairs. Also, we should not have to pay for accessibility.

@@n0ibn well I’m sorry you feel so entitled and feel that someone in a wheelchair with sensory overload doesn’t qualify. I’m so happy Disney has something similar even if I have to pay a little more it’s worth every dime to make the happiest vacation ever. Think about that. Be grateful you even get to go to Disney a lot of families will never get to see it. Accessibility/VIP treatment should be only given to those that have a terminally ill condition. Have a nice day.

some people spend every dime to help their kids and family go like my parents and i can’t afford to buy passes for every ride and i shouldn’t have to pay for it
stop pretending youre high and mighty cause you can afford it 99.99999999% cant and its so dumb to pretend its so easy as to not buy it or not go

@@blondie4512 You are reading things that are not there. Maybe you should look inward as to why you’re projecting. Accessibility is NOT “VIP’ treatment, it’s the bare minimum. Genie+ does not offer the same thing as DAS does, not to mention it’s limited in availability and has time limits on return. Have the day you deserve.

@@n0ibn they do offer VIP tours which gives you special treatment. . But let’s be real for one moment
the bottom line is you want something for free. I understand as I too used it because they offered it. But they are a theme park and like everything in this country, costs go up along with demand. I hope you can find enjoyment if you go again. We love it and accept that things change and you either go or you don’t. Takes too much energy to be unhappy.
