10:58 Cardiff Central calling at Bath Spa and Cardiff Central. What happened? Weird service.

It was recorded two Decembers ago (I think), the Cardiff and Swansea trains were diverted and running via Newbury due to engineering works. There had not been enough capacity at Trowbridge due to the Bath market and every train was arriving wedged, GWR were running 2 and 3 carriage trains so they decided to stop one of the HST services. Unfortunately that was also wedged and only a handful of people were able to board. There have been a few random services over the years, a couple of years ago a Paignton to Paddington train was diverted due to a problem near Nailsea, and it stopped additionally at Westbury, Trowbridge, Melksham before continuing onto Chippenham. Must have been the first time in a very long time that Melksham had a direct service to Paddington...

@@Parallel395 Oh wow, what a weird service! Now, that makes sense. I also remember that two years ago, there was freight derailment at East Somerset Junction blocking the line between Westbury and Taunton, with trains being terminated at Frome instead. West Country services called at Trowbridge and went non stop to Taunton via Bristol Temple Meads.

It was supposed to go to Bristol Parkway, but it was cancelled because of a fault.

Ruth says Bristoltemplemeads but Anne says Bristol___Temple___Meads (via Bristol___Temple___Meads...?) lol

These Anne station recordings were bespoke to FGW. The out of place 'via' was probably because the train was part cancelled due to disruption, and nobody thought to remove the via point!

@@Parallel395 Ahh, that explains the slowness. Janine the onboard PIS announcer speaks in that slow patronising way as well.

I’m pretty sure cancelling a train due to overcrowding will create MORE crowding...

Although I hate Anne because of her voice sounding patronising, I have to admit she says Bristol Temple Meads much better than Ruth does.
Nice one for putting Trowbridge on the map. I know the place very well as I have held residency there during college and used to travel by train fortnightly (coming home on Friday and returning Sunday evening). The Cardiff Central trains were always late especially the 12:16 service, worse when it was under First Great Western.
Wow! Not heard those reasons for delay before. Interesting!!
Ouch 83 minutes! The biggest I've heard was 120 minutes at Coventry (10:42 VT to Preston (curtailed Glasgow Central service) due to the emergency services dealing with an incident.

Anne at GWR (or FGW) uses bespoke station recordings for the stations they manage, 'Bristol Temple Meads' is said softer at stations managed by other operators. The Cardiff - Portsmouth trains aren't very punctual, probably because the amount of junctions they pass over and that express trains often get pathed in front which makes a small delay escalate. The GWR Weymouth line isn't much better.

How come the train terminating at Dorchester west didn’t go to Weymouth?
