If you're wondering about what sandpaper grit to use with a one sided disc, People say use a 60 grit paper for both combs and cutters. Its between the 40 and 80 grit, you would have on a two sided disc. It'll save on money. I use 80 grit myself but that's just what I find is best for me. Its easy to get self adhesive sandpaper discs on eBay. I got 10 12inch discs for €20. The grit classification can be different depending where you get them.👍

You are using wrong sandpaper for the cutters one is course and one is fine one is for combs one is for cutters that is why your cutters are going blue on the ends as the sandpaper needs to be different

@onlygazza that is because it's only the single wheel version try and get a spare disc one for the cutters and one for the combs you be fine with the one pendulum

@onlygazza what make is your grinder ? A company I have dealt with many years will supply you a secondary disk and different papers as you will be going threw a lot off cutters after you have sharpened them they need a leather strop which takes the sharp edges off them reducing cutting the sheep a buffing wheel is also a good method always soak them in oil after sharpened them to reduce moisture to prevent them rusting

How did these end up cutting? Would you do anything different next time?

They worked well, just make sure you don’t hear the teeth to much 👍

Hi, I have the same sharpener. I swapped the pendulum arm to the right hand side, so the sparks are going up away from the blades. I think it does better job sharpening.

@ConnemaraShooter it may reduce the speed in which it is running at preventing it from heating the cutters up were they are loosing there strength with out seeing the grinder and how it operates I'm just going off my experience keep away from the very early lister grinders as they are a bad set up the arms vibrate quiet alot while the disc is running and your cutters come out cheese wedged

The grinder doesn't vibrate at all. Grinders are setup on the right-hand side for grinding. As long as you set up the length of the arm correctly it won't cause a cheese wedge. There are a lot of good CZcams videos on the subject. The only thing that is wrong with the sharpener, is the grinder surface is flat not concaved as it should be. If you only shearing about a hundred sheep like me it's fine, as long as you oil the blades of the cutter every sheep or so.

@ConnemaraShooter I shear about 2k a year so I've got a good idea and the shearing supplier said that it was a bad model too
