- "How'd you get into branding?" "what's it like as a brand strategist?" Knowing brand strategy is a hard industry to understand from the outside and seeing as there has been a lot of requests💬 on LinkedIn for coffee chats, I thought I'd film this video as a way to answer the basic questions at scale.
This video is intended to cover the basic questions that I get from graduates and professionals that are looking to break in/transition to this industry. If there's any other specific questions, please feel free to leave a comment and I'll be happy to answer! ☺️
⭐️ about me: I always start of my interviews by saying my curiosity is what led me to brand strategy. I have an undergraduate degree in information management and a masters in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University. I didn't really know what field I would go into before I discovered branding, but when I found branding I kind of knew this was it. I'm now on my 4th/5th year as a brand strategist.

don't get discouraged! branding is so broad that people can (and do) come from all types of backgrounds. I would suggest you highlight your transferrable skills, such as: understanding consumer drivers, market trends, research, interviewing, extracting information, etc. these are all skills that every brand strategist needs, and to be honest most traditional degrees don't fully prepare you to be a brand strategist

Hi! can you give me a bit of your background so I can recommend to your needs? are you a strategist, verbalist, or designer? there are a few graduate programs that are helpful. Julian Cole also does a course called the Planning Dirty Academy. Chris Do also has a few helpful courses :)
