    This is awesome. In 2024 we will put our little Land Rover on the boat to the U.S. from The Netherlands. Those list are awesome for our preparation. We can't wait to do all those epic trails ❤. Great work we love your video's.

    My fav route is Ouray to blackbear to Imogene, back to Ouray. Although last time I went down blackbear, the steps had washed so much even some of the stick Rubicon JLs were bumping skid plates. And getting tires off the ground. Still doable, but a lot of people don’t find it fun to be on three wheels when descending the steps. (I don’t blame them.) I never got a tire off the ground in my rig so I didn’t have to experience that thankfully.

    The Medano Pass primitive road to the sand dunes is a great trip. Fortunately, all the creek crossings have firm gravel bottoms, so getting stuck is not really a danger. Down lower on the east side there is a seep spring that often causes muddy conditions where picking the right line is the ONLY way to get through.

    I live in CO and have a 2011 JKUR lifted on 35's. Was in a 4x4 club, we used the books by Funtrek. Guide to Colorado Backroads and 4 wheel Drive Trails. I did that trail around 2001 in a chevy trailblazer. I still think of that trail, very cool. Seemed remote, one stretch in deep woods passes small pond and a momma and baby moose were standing in the water and a beaver was swimming there too. I was by myself and got a little lost/mixed up along the way too.

    Incredible shots and absolutely right on point. I traveled in those areas via Adventure motorcycle a few years ago (R1200GSA) and while I enjoyed it ALOT, my heart was wanting my jeep out there. I now have a JLUR and started a little channel here on the east coast jeepNdirt and practicing and hoping we'll be able to begin those west coast trips in 2023. Great footage, great voice over, and appreciate your humbleness as you gave that shout out to Matt. I'm subscribed for sure. God Bless you brother.

    Stony pass has a bit of a tale for me, as in several previous trips, I have come across accidents that were fatal. One was a plane crash, near the top of the pass, where a Cessna 150 failed to clear and stalled when trying to turn around. The accident occurred the morning we were driving the pass. The second was when we came across a Jeep TJ stuck in the creek crossing, where a pair of binoculars were on the roof and noone was around. We found out shortly later that a couple from Louisiana had tried crossing the creek and stalled out. They climbed onto the roof, where the woman tried to jump to the bank and was washed away. The husband was rescued later by winch line, leaving the bino's on the soft top when they took him to town.

    I’d be interested in a video comparing full size to mid size vehicles for off road. I’m trying to debate a F150 or another Jeep or midsize truck and as a Colorado resident I’m worried the F150 might limit me too much. Or take too much damage/scratches.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  Před rokem +2

      That’s definitely planned! The short answer is it depends if you want to travel like me or like Matt. My truck can’t do a couple of the trails on his list, but it’s way more comfortable for what I do with it.

      For trails in Colorado, a full size rig is great unless you're into the more hard core trails.

      I was in a 4x4 club in CO, mostly jeep wranglers. I now have a 2011 JKUR lifted on 35's, have done many of the high country trails. aftermarket steel bumpers and sliders down the sides help a lot too. Wranglers are skinnier than even a 4Runner and that helps in tight spots, lots of scratchy bushes near the water sections of trails.

    If counting prominence of peak Colorado only has 52 (challenger point is close to making it 53 by 300 rule) 14er’s. It’s just us geological few that really care though. That said you can exceed 70 if going by just is it over 14k

      I’m not sure. Wheelbase is definitely going to be the limiting factor on most because of the tight switchbacks. The only one it definitely won’t fit is Medano. Stony might be possible, but I haven’t driven it in a couple of years.

    I'd like to take my wife and daughters on those trails but I think they'd be walking all of the shelf roads. Are there any trails to recommend with little or no shelf roads. I know some are probably unavoidable if you want the best scenic views. Its really been hard to find this information.

    • @RevereOverland
