It was such a letdown dude. How many decades since the first Doom, we've been waiting to see the Dark Lord forever, and it's basically just a Marauder fight. Look at how epic the Icon of Sin fight was. Dark Lord should've been AT LEAST that same type of epic moment.

I think my favorite nuanced thing about this game is how the ammo crates are literally demons you have to saw in half
it isnt nuanced at all it's probably the most annoying feature they keep pushing to the forefront

@@tomatoesofdoom you mean the best feature. Its the funnest thing to do when you start comboing it into your attacks. My personal favorite move is the flying flaming chainsaw,(aka meathook, flame belch when close, then chainsaw for Armour, ammo, and health if your low.)

My favorite part is when Davoth goes on the long rant about him being the true first being or whatever for like 2 minutes straight like "As all things were made by my hand, so shall they be unmade. Starting with you." and you're prepared for a big fight and then the Slayer immediately begins wailing on him and you're reminded that you're watching a SmvR video
It’s like in dark souls when you’ve fought a boss so many times that the fight is muscle memory. But now you have to jump and fly around and keep changing abilities. I’m impressed

The ease with which he triggers the Dark Lord's green eyes is absolutely insane... most of the time he was just swinging the sword at me, charging at me or summoning tons of heavy demons. It took more than half an hour because he kept regenerating his health and I was getting really pissed off, but I wasn't afraid to die because I farmed tons of extra lives before. Eventually I did it, even if I had to restart the battle because the game crashed, but damn it was hard!
You've just made what is easily the sweatiest boss battle look like a cake walk.
this boss was pretty easy, they should've made Davoth no mech, like another Doomguy

I can't believe I forgot to use Blood Punch during this entire fight. Getting shots in before the hammer strike is a really nice touch too. This game is so surprisingly deep!

@@unruh_8470 I'm usually usually fine with controllers, but not when it comes to Doom 2016 and Eternal. You couldn't bind weapons to buttons until very recently, so quick-swap combos needed to be set up beforehand with the weapon wheel. Then it's made an extra step more awkward because there's a slight delay before the weapon wheel comes up.
On console you can decrease the delay to 70 milliseconds so it’s basically instant just memorize which direction to move the stick for what gun and then just practice

Why does the Slayer need armor? Same reason - they both take damage from attacks, regardless of their innate power.
@@LightTrack- The slayer is just a guy with divine strength and speed. He can't reality warp like prime davoth could, or create anything like planets or lifeforms. The creators had to nerf davoth so that the bossfight wouldn't just be davoth waving his hand and the doomslayer poofing into nothing

@@facey5425 Its all based on distance. This guy practiced and learned the perfect distance to keep him so he attacks. You don't beat the final boss on the hardest difficulty in 10 minutes without taking any damage based on luck. He did this because of skill.

Between God of War and Doom Eternal content, you're on a roll, I'm loving every second of it. Interesting that this hyper switching combo does so much more damage than the chain gun in turret mode. You used BFG! A great way to deal with those spirits. Curious if we're gonna see master level content and the find your weapons in gore nest from you.

The dark lord got to use a mech and had friendly NPCs helping him. All the stuff we didn't get
then again the Slayer has the suit too and he gets resources from those NPCs too
@@Symbiotian I meant gameplay wise, not plot excuses. It would have been awesome seeing ARC Marines following you around aiding you in your battle. Granted they wouldn't have lasted very long in the later levels but it's the allies that's the fun part

@@SolidSnake240 that's such a lame excuse to not include good aspects of the game. It's been repeated so many times to try and shuffle away the attention from stuff missing from the game. Well, according to the doom lore, the slayer fights with his fists - he doesn't need weapons either...why are they in the game? Simple: gameplay. Same logic applies to mechs. The slayer walking around in an ARC mech and just gunning down hordes of Imps and possessed. Sign me up!
This is too good to not re-watch at least 100 times.
I wonder what the end of this game means for the future of the series. It’s hard to imagine what the next game could look like.
I believe this is the final DOOM game. He won. He killed the Devil, stopped the invasion of demons throughout the universe, and sealed Hell forever, preventing any demon from leaving Hell or what is left of Hell. No leadership, no connections to the universe, no connections to mortals other than petty worship. The Slayer finished the job as destined.
@@LewisBowels theres always some way they could spin it to rekindle the story if you are even remotely creative though. Just one possibility is that, unbeknownst to man or the Maykrs, a small spark of the Dark Lord's life force seeded back in hell and took on the form of a new Dark Lord but it takes several thousand years to renew its power enough to become a threat so the Maykrs reawaken Doomguy and send him through time to the appropriate moment and do it again. Lol there is so much they can do if they want. Just depends how much pressure they get from fans to make a sequel, and/or if their profit margin starts to nose dive and they need "the new rage" to bring life back into the company. Just a thought.
