- I love Renee Zellweger's movie "New InTown", and Tift Merritt's song "Another Country", which is featured during a poignant scene, so I made this video to promote both. You can download the MP3's from Tift's album of 11 songs from Amazon for $5.99, and the DVD came out May 26, 2009, so it should be inexpensive to buy or rent.

I don't know anything about this film, but I just love this song. I'm gettin wed soon and although this wont be our first dance, I gunna make sure it's played right at the end of the night. Just adore Tift Merrits voice.
What a powerfull, haunting, soulfull song. Made me stop in my tracks the first time I heard it. The busy noisy, irritating world around me seemed to suddenly disappear and go quiet. Memories of my first high school girlfriend flooded my mind. My first true love 54 years ago. The one I didn't marry. The one that makes you still wonder to this day....what if? I want to go with you. Makes me cry.

Just came across this movie and song for the first time. Loved the movie and being from South Dakota originally just have to say they nailed the accents and the culture. The song is just beautiful and haunting. Ten years since I lost the love of my life. Trying very hard, but know I'll never be loved like that again. Miss you Tommy!

As Leonard Cohen was the true voice of my generation, Tift Merrit, I am certain, will eventually be recognized as the true voice of today's. There aren't that many artists that can so completely catch the heart and soul of an era.

You picked just the right words to describe the sweet sound found in this slow moving serenade. And Harry Connick and Renee's characters fit perfectly together in this film. There's always a magnetic push and pull between them, strong but soft, close but oh so playfully out of reach, all at once....Sigh...

Thanks - you have put a big smile on my face. I watched the movie, heard the song for the first time, and was compelled to attempt sharing my feelings and generate interest in the movie. My only problem with the clips was when the kissing scene blended into the head-on view of Renee jogging, it looked like she was running about 25mph. I worked on it until I almost got rid of it, but you can still get a glimpse of it if you are looking for it. I still don't understand what caused it.
Hey, I too love this movie..just watched it for the 3rd time, it's really nice. I had to find out who this song was by, it grabbed my heart.. should've known it was Tift Merritt, I came across her last year, her song 'Broken'.. I just Adore that song and now this song too. I agree with ItsUp2Us' comment below, Tift Merritt will surely be recognized as one of the best songwriters of this generation, sure! As for Renee Z, Great, and those shoes at the end.. A funny personal thing that came out of this is that I was mesmerized by the "slice" shot of her high heels flashing by, and, whereas my only opinion before was that such things are nothing but a detriment to a woman's health, I now understand the attraction. Cinematography is a powerful thing.

This was a good movie. You don’t see good movies hardly anymore. I like the actress, However, I just wished she wouldn’t have messed up her face. She looks plastic. Still pretty but plastic. This song is such a great song too.
