It’s been many years that I visited Mexico but I still remember one of my friends trying to order nachos at a beach bar in playa del Carmen. The waitress didn’t understand him. So he pronounced the word nachos emphasizing each syllable slowly and repeatedly. Again she had absolutely no idea what he was taking about. All of us around him were laughing our guts out. After doing some research it turns out that “nachos” is an American word that does not exist south of the border.
