    I'm surprised no one is considering Wagner possibly returning to the Pittsburgh area. That would be a natural move for a kid who struggled.

    I keep making the point that DJ wasn't a point guard in high school. If any of the guards they had, had to play point their play would've struggled. They were all 2 guards

      How you figure? A coach can take a player’s scholarship. A scholarship is not a four year guarantee contract. They have to renew their scholarship every year. I’m all for an athlete to get the maximum while in college.

    DJ Wagner going to Arkansas depends on the players coach Cal will be able to get. If Cal can put together a winning team DJ and Richmond will go to Arkansas. If Cal cannot put together a good team DJ will not be going to Arkansas. I hope wherever DJ Wagner goes he has a breakout season next season because he is a really good player.

      @@kiphansenkh Look, it's a weak recruiting class, and for the last 6-7 years most of Caliparis high rated recruits have underperformed. For example, his last class boasted 3 of the top 5 recruits in the nation, and none of them were among the top 4 players on last seasons team.

    • @Plumbob_3
      @Plumbob_3 Před 2 měsíci +3

      What Arkansas fans are getting is a smooth talking recruiter, who will promise high rated (often overrated) players that HE can help them. get to the NBA. He will negotiate away all of his power and control of his team to players agents, parents, and donors. Most of those players will get to the NBA, not because of Calipari, but because they have talent and potential when he recruits them, and little more when they leave after one season. He will win many games this way, but he will also lose many head scratchers. He will likely have an early exit in March, with the exception of when he does manage to land a generational talent like Anthony Davis. He will also have very good teams that could compete for a championship if not for his mis-management. Like 14'-15' when we went 38-1 but lost in final 4, because he wouldn't start Booker, and tried to make everyone happy by platooning instead of playing his best players. Last season is another example of Caliparis mis-management as he started Wagner and Edwards over Sheppard and Dillingham. You give me any other explanation for Sheppard and Dillingham not starting. I'm waiting... I don't have to know who his roster will be made of, because I know Calipari, I've studied his every move for the past 15 years.

    If Wagner doesnt follow Cal to Ark then NO WAY Cal will be able to do what Muss did. That would make 3 TOP recruits that wouldnt follow him as well as 3 asst coaches

  • @markhammer1902
    @markhammer1902 Před 2 měsíci +2

    Calipari is not a coach that can develop players. The players that have left and transferred have actually become better once they got away from Calipari.

    • @randallmadison9910
      @randallmadison9910 Před 2 měsíci

      Not what all of the All-Stars under Cal in the NBA say. Moreover, he has won everywhere he's been. Kentucky always speaks of its glorious past. Rupp went to one Final Four in his last 14 years. Kentucky had this policy that it was beneath them to play in-state schools. Rupp had to play Western Kentucky University in the NCAA and got stomped by this inferior in-state school. Kentucky, the flagship school, wasn't even the best program in the state of Kentucky during the decade of the 1980s. Fact is no top-tier coach wanted the self-proclaimed dream job of college basketball. The law of averages is talent wins. Arkansas will be a more regular participant in Final Fours now with Arkansas than Kentucky will. Bet. As usual, BBN arrogance wrote a check it can't fund.

    • @markhammer1902
      @markhammer1902 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @randallmadison9910 nope. Players are what they are when they come to Cal they're either good bad or somewhere in between. He does not make them better in college if they have to stay more than one year. Most of them blossom in the NBA when they have better coaching . He relies on the number high ranking incoming freshmen and except for one year out of 15 it has not worked. And yes Kentucky standards are higher than Arkansas's. Nothing personal

    • @randallmadison9910
      @randallmadison9910 Před 2 měsíci

      @markhammer1902 Nothing personal is my post. Those are facts. Yours is conjecture. You can't prove that Cal made them better or worse. What is known is that he has more All-Stars than anyone in the NBA. What is known is that he won a U Mass, he won at Memphis and he won at Kentucky. What is known is that players are leaving Kentucky like the Titanic since he left. What is known is that Kentucky, with its higher standards, was unable to get any top tier coach to accept the job and ended up like Louisville, hiring a second tier coach for the job. There is a huge difference from facts and conjecture.

    • @markhammer1902
      @markhammer1902 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @randallmadison9910 not conjecture my friend. I am a Kentucky graduate and fan since the last few years of the Adolph Ruppl era. I have watched John since the day he stepped on campus. It was fun at first bringing in the number one or number two recruiting class but then he started really underachieving. If winning 15 or 20 games based on talent and losing in the first round in the NCAA tournament is acceptable you have your coach. The glory years of Calipari are gone and the portal system will make those highly ranked incoming freshman even more irrelevant.

    • @randallmadison9910
      @randallmadison9910 Před 2 měsíci

      @markhammer1902 Lol. You were taught better at Kentucky. You're emotive. Your comment is pure conjecture. Rupp went to one Final Four his last 14 years. Kentucky, with conjecture, believed it was too superior to play in-state schools. Rupp had to play lowly Western Kentucky University and got stomped. Fact. Kentucky, the flagship school, wasn't even the best program in the state of Kentucky in the 1980s. Louisville was much more successful. Fact. You can wish. Sometimes, wishes come true. But you're doing nothing but wishing at this point.
