Kentucky signs one of the best guards in Transfer Portal, Otega Oweh

- Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh arrived on Thursday for his visit to Lexington, then publicly committed early Saturday afternoon. Just minutes later, Kentucky officially announced his signing, the second of the day following SDSU transfer Lamont Butler’s public addition.
Oweh, who averaged 11.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore for the Sooners, will be bringing a ‘special physicality and intensity’ with him to Lexington, Mark Pope said.
“Otega shot 37 percent from the 3-point line last year,” Pope said. “He’s elite at earning trips to the free-throw line and he brings a special physicality and intensity to the game. Otega spent his entire season last year picking up the point guard full court in the Big 12. His tenacity on the court is contagious and his humility off the court is going to endear himself to Big Blue Nation.”

The defense is looking like fire right now. We need some high percentage shooters to balance it out a little bit though. Travis Perry should be really good in that area. I’m really liking it so far regardless

Otega Oweh is a Sophomore, so Kentucky will possibly get two years from him.
what is our recruiting status? i’m not worried about the portal we’re gonna land people, are we getting class of 25’26 people on a landscape map or just locally?

He's pretty mid like everyone else we've gotten. I'm not hating on what Pope is doing right now, but I can't pretend to be incredibly excited about getting a bunch of just ok players. I'll get excited when we get top 10 players in the portal, or when I see this team is capable of winning big games.

These three are dudes, Amari Williams, Butler, and Oweh are what real college basketball players look like. They are not 18 year old kids who are expected to play against grown men, THESE are the grown men. Still 8 or more pickups to go, plenty of time to find some shooters.
@@fortyfour911 They aren't even the best or second best players on their teams, and none of them shoot the ball well. They might be good on defense, but we need some great offensive weapons. We have Travis Perry and a guy who has spent the last 2 years converting Africans to Mormonism. We're not exactly getting world beaters, dude. I appreciate your excitement and optimism, but these guys aren't the best out there. Let's slow down.
