Welcome to the world of primitive archery my friend. The key to accuracy is establishing an anchor point. An anchor point is simply the chosen spot for your draw hand to reach before releasing the string. This will vary from archer to archer so you will have to see what is comfortable for you. After that it's just repetition leading to muscle memory. Happy shooting!

You need to invite Fred AND ME :-)
Wild guess: given that the bow looks flat, it's likely hickory. You can violate the growth rings and make a flat bow with hickory.

As soon as i get a chance i ll come to bbc cabin and i ll get you on track! From dhat i saw we have some work to do.string snapping your forearm is a sign of hyper extension of your arm. I ll try to give you a lil visual support while i find a time i can come down.

Disclaimer: there are countless ways of shooting a bow - but I'd hold such a primitive bow slightly slanted, and would use a bow glove on the left hand (to avoid drawing blood... been there). Using your hand as an arrow rest can get bloody... forearm slapping can also happen if you tork the bow. In an ideal world, there's no arm slapping - *I* don't live in an ideal world :-) :-) :-). So I wear an armguard for trad, and I don't use a guard with a compound bow.

BTW, not using the word "primitive" in a derogatory way. It's primitive in that it's the simplest type of bow one can make (single piece of wood, no recurve). Primitive technology... Primary... first. Cheers.
