Hey there Omega long time no hear, thanks for watching and your input. As for the wax bars I've herd of them and your right about them water proofing canvas but it would all so increase there weight and probably hinder there ability to breath, I have tried applying a home brew of a paraffin solution to canvas haversacks and the truth is it did a great job of water proofing but all so increased the weight and made the texture very stiff. The company we deal with from the USA who provides us with our canvas has a product already treated with wax and comes in a olive green colour (very nice) fabric but it just wouldn't work well for our applications. Boreal Bushcraft Canada yeah, waxing reduces breathability. It depends on the local snow type (like seaside heavy wet snow versus dry mountain) and only need it where snow accumulates on the garments (shoulders) or work areas like the cuffs.

If it's canvas. It can be waxed . They make special wax bars to waterproof canvas and clothing. Fjallraven makes them .
