Take the crossbars off the top and you can heap it up and get a lot more in a tote. I cut the sides out and use the cut out section and bars to make a ‘gate’ which allows easy access to dig the wood out.

I think those totes will work great, if you planning to do bundles in the future. Less work for moving the wood around. 👍 Most common over here is to pack it in a net bag. (Somewhere around 1,5 cubic foot) Those sell for something around $10... Birch firewood works great! That’s the most preferd wood over here, and problaby the easiest to get. It gross like weeds! 😂 It’s been great to see you expand your business and having alot of fun! Be safe and keep on playing, boys! 👍

Keeping bundle wood in one is very convenient because I can just pick it up and move it into my shop where the bundler is so Im out of the weather. They do make a wood yard nice and neat though. I. think in Bert's situation they are perfect.

You could remove the 2 bars on the top of your toads (won't have an effect on the stability cause you just put in the wood loose) and then you could put them in your trailer and just have to flip them with your tractor. Easiest way to empty them in my opinion. From a viewer from Germany 😉

Totes can be handy, but like you said, unloading is something to be dealt with.
Unfortunately I found out even a Modified, 1/2 220gal, tote (1/2 tote, 1/2 full = 1/4 load) is more than my tiny BX 1500D can lift. Truly sad... I think the lift capacity is down with age and a bit of neglect from the previous owner, but I have to address the failed 4WD(front gears) before tackling the Hydraulics issue.

I cut alot of wood with a Friend that owns a Tree climbing bussiness and we cut some Birch an I was really surprised it was pouring out gallons of water! I knew they drained a little bit of water but it was like having the faucet turned on all the way it was really Pretty Tree! If someone ask me what kind of wood to buy other than Red Oak i would Say Wild Cherry 🍒 is my favorite an the color is beautiful to me!

Good Morning Bert. I just started using totes and remove the support bars plus cut an opening and they seem to work fine. Is there a reason you keep the support bars on? I’d figure they are plenty strong enough especially since you don’t cut the sides. Just curious.

I was thinking that a different wedge would make so they don't have to resplit. Also, the operator was pushing the wood off quite a bit. Seems like he could have just saved those seconds and placed another piece of wood that would do the same thing he was doing while the machine was idle. Sorry, it's the Dutch in me that has to point out the inefficiency even if it's just a few seconds. But it's a few seconds a few hundred times.... 😉

@jakebredthauer5100 , watch the operator of the levers. He spends a lot of time pushing the wood away. He could just be putting the next log in and letting the machine push off the splits into the conveyor. Not knocking these hard working guys. Wishing I had a hundred of them for my business!

I gotta say,,,lol,,worst video you've ever done that I have watched. I almost click it off after a few minute,,but thought, well maybe they have figured something out that I should know about. But then at the end of the video,,no new idea. Maybe if you had some repeat customers that had equipment at home to unload the totes and could bring back the totes when they come to get more wood.
