Great guitar player and can do vox during some very complicated parts. But his songwriting, ehhh. A lot to be desired in my opinion. Their songs can be awfully busy at times.

I would consider him a legend in the making. Erra has been around since what 2009. It usually takes quite a while, before your really well known and your name lives on to legendary status such as Eddie Van Halen, Joe satriani, malmsteen, and several others I could name. Dude is an amazing vocalist and musician though, and I guarantee he will end up being a legend

Criminally underrated does not begin to describe this band. They deserve so much more exposure than they get.

Prog metal in general doesn’t have a huge market/ audience,as someone said it’s a niche genre but they are known in the scene
That Expiate riff was and still is something else. One of the best songs off of that album.

Him mentioning how much Misery Signals’ Controller album shaped their sound explains so much why I love Erra. Controller is a perfect album.

He said Deftones, Saosin, and Circa Survive was his biggest influences. He basically just gave a small shout out to Misery Signals.
@@Reversoul on the instrumental side of things they were extremely important alongside deftones. He referred to circa survive and saosin as more vocal influences. Not sure you can interpret that as a small shout out but it's all good

@@andygreen5565 Yeah man I miss the wild that it used to be. Everything was so fun and exciting and inviting in the scene, but it became so inclusive only to those who fit the mold. Cliques and fashion of over-turned the wholesome nature of "everyone's invited PLEASE join in."
Hopefully some good that has come out of the covid crisis is that, maybe we can return to form of good-hearted energy and open arms to those who wish of an alternative outlet for passion and unity.
I started guitar at the same age with the same song haha… this guy must have practiced nonstop for years and years, very impressive and inspiring. What a gifted artist!

I don't think he's underrated, just not recognized widely enough. This is from someone who holds him as the crowning champion of songwriting.
People confuse underrated with non-exposed. How can people rate him when they don't know about him? That's why I hate regular fm radio, they don't play the best.
Having him playing "Reaper" made me realize that Cash is like this generation's Buck Dharma... Fantastic composer, riffage god, but totally underrated.

It's crazy how As I Lay Dying melodic style was an influence for so many modern guitarist. This band definitely shaped a whole generation.

Jesse Cash is one of best cleans singers in metal core for sure to me & the riffs are absolutely insanely he's definitely top tier in metal core.

I never thought I would hear a big band recognize the greatness of Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Dallas Taylor is incredible.
I find it pretty neat that he said “Caution: Dangerous Curves Ahead” was one of the first drop tuning riffs he learned. That was the same for me. Something about that pinch harmonic just made me want to find out how to play it. Maylene and He Is Legend were the favorites back then for guitar for me!
Erra is absolutely amazing. Jesse has some of the most unique riffs I've ever heard.
It suddenly makes sense why I like Erra so much...dude just referenced all of my favourite bands. Serious props for Maylene shout out, I miss that band and all the love in my heart goes to them after everything that happened.
He got into Killswitch and As I Lay Dying, two of my favorite bands. No wonder I love ERRA so much
Vanish Canvas is an amazing song, I love the clean vocals. Then you add a little Courtney from Spiritbox in there? Dope ass song. I discovered Erra like 2 years ago and you guys are my favorite "new discovered" bands right now.
After finding erra in last 3-4 months my mind is blown. This band has a very distinct sound . Wish I would have come across them earlier

I always think about Controller when I listed to the Drift album. MS has always been my favorite, followed by ERRA and Counterparts for obvious reasons.
I could watch and listen to him play that Elegy riff all goddamn day 🤤

Saw Erra a couple of times at local shows in Birmingham around 2011. I remember thinking they were really good, but my music taste for what they were doing in particular just wasn't there yet. Now, however, I've been digging back through all I've missed for about the past year or two on and off.
I also have some buddies now who went to school with Jesse. Both say he's a great guy.

Loving misery signals as much as I did is basically what brought me to finding bands like erra and volumes who were influenced by them. Controller is still one of the best albums I've ever heard. It was with me during very emotional times in my life so controller will always hold a special place in my heart.
I could watch this for hours.. so awesome hearing the songs and getting in the mind of one of the greatest guitarists out there in the metal scene today

Misery Signals' Controller album was a masterpiece. Had that album on repeat back in the day and it influenced my guitar playing a lot as well. Such a good record.
The vocalist of Circa (Anthony Green) is my all time favorite singer. Probably explains why I like ERRAS vocals so much. it's always cool seeing one of your favorite bands is influenced by your other favorite band
i literally got a 7 string because of erra and i’m trying to shape a new type of guitar playing more like yours in the sense of rhythm and mixing it with some abr. you guy are my biggest musical influences. keep up the good work

Dude Misery Signal's Controller is one of my favorite albums of all time. When it came out I listened to it start to finish multiple times and still do. The whole thing just sounds so damn good.
