Very cool to hear from Bigham in a longer form interview. Lots of interesting things to hear.
Apparently Ganna did some 30 min velodrome tests and was pushing speeds of around 57 kph. Dan should try and squeeze in a world record soon-ish before Ganna has a crack!
The era of mortals will come to an end.
Well he did 54.355 km/h average for 47 minutes in his last time trial at the world cup, and that was on a public road (more friction) with corners and without a track bike which surely is faster than his road bolide TT.
If Gana and Bingham joined forces….then maybe we’d have 2 Sith Lords of Speed? 😆😉 🇮🇹 🏴
Perfect match between interviewer and interviewee. Both on same energy level, knowledge level, interest level. Fantastic. Well-done boys! I particularly enjoyed the discussion of pacing. Major takeaway (which Dan loved): “Watts/CDA/psychology”
Also very interested as to why the Kask helmet is somehow faster than the POC. Appreciate Dan's insight and PT's ability to digress his initial assumption. True mark of an engineer.
6:56 Hambini never said upstream wake doesn't matter; he said that it is personal enough that a single design would be unlikely to fit multiple riders. You MIGHT get it right or you might make it worse.
If you have the time and ability to optimize your own personal aerodynamics then absolutely work on your own stuff.
Excellent content, thank you. Dan is such an inspiration, especially for less powerful riders who can't muster megawatts! Listening to him in interviews has really helped me to believe I can get quicker, and I have indeed consequently ridden smarter and gone faster this year than I ever thought possible. Cheers PT and DB!
Do you think him and his partner's lineage will progressively become more and more aerodynamic. Cone heads and aero arms by 2300
Camm tail back hump
@@szurketaltos2693 Perhaps they'll develop scales in critical areas to trip the boundary layer. Fabric textures wouldn't matter. No ban by UCI possible.
in a few generations they might be able to beat Ganna
Aero bunda and moobs in a skinsuit, not sure about that image, butt if its faster 🤔
What the rest of the world needs to fear is if Pogacar and Zigart (his girlfriend who's also a World Tour cyclist) have children.
Hearing Dan Bingham talk instantly makes you a faster rider. Awesome content.
Great interview, looking forward to part 2. PT, you need to do more interviews. You're suited to it!
Congratulations. Thanks. I am looking forward to the next installments.
Great interview, thanks PT and Dan
Good video, thanks. Great to hear from Dan. Looking forward to part two.
Dan can take pride in being right up there with other record holders and not being just a full time athlete
That's some brilliant content right there, looking forward to part 2.
Fantastic, well stoked for part 2!
This was excellent. Thanks!
Great interview. Tremendous ride. Good video
I'd like to see Dan crowdfund the £8000, I really think he'd smash the target!
Can I press the like button 100 times? I could listen to Dan for hours. When is the next part due?
Great video; will look forward to part 2 👍🏼
Excellent video really enjoyable to listen too.
Brilliant interview 👌🏼
The best takeaway I got from this interview was that he was able to make his training, diet, routine, consistent due to COVID and lack of travel and racing.
Can‘t wait for part 2!
This is awesome content, chapeau!!!
episode 2, so excited!
Reminded me I needed a new chain with all the chat! Thanks.
Quality chat thanks PT!
nice interview/interviewee so far. good stuff.
Loved this video, thanks
great stuff !
I vote that if Dan does not get the record - their kids will if they so choose or are able. Nice to see a chat with a grounded athlete.
Nice vid. 👍
Hambini where u at? He said that narrow handlebars is not the way to go. He uses the handlebars to disrupt the airflow before it hits his thigh. Interesting.
Two WHR's in one household now. Legendary.
Training in a lay-by en-route to a meeting is interesting. I take it some lorry drivers stopped next to you mid-training and gave you the weirdest look
Just need a Hambini post to complete the day, and that'll make a nice quartet: DR, Luescher Teknik, PT...come on you lazy 5 year olds!
i'm watching paw patrol. Mayor Hummdinger has found out he is Skye's father and the mother is everest
Who might "DR" be may I ask. And leave the 5 year old alone, it’s his naptime soon.
@@Monkey_slapping_keys durianrider most likely. The cycling intellectual darkweb LOL
Plus Hambini mum wants him in for his tea.
Snap!
First! Big fan!
Thanks for that.
Are all hour attempts done at a specific time of the day or can you pick your own? And if so, why 4pm?
Reduction of drag always allows less power to achieve a set velocity. Dan has DEFINITELY done his homework. Just think if he could increase his power while maintaining his record attempt drag coefficient!
Juicy
INEOS Grenadiers!!!!!!!!!!
Hambini said there was "nothing there" in the context of the one-size fits all "aero bar" on the new Ribble road bike. In this context, he's surely correct.
It's good
Hard to continue working when this comes out
What's his opinion about the tour of britain presenters calling him "dan bingham" and writing "bingham" on the TV graphic as well as on the tour of britain website?
What the hell.. he could easily break the world record in a couple of years if he wants to, right?
7:57 Ribble handlebar, "I don't think on the road"and then it gets cut off. Was he saying that on the road it doesn't work and only works in a velodrome because it's steady state?
It works because every piece can be custom tailored to him in the velodrome versus calling the shape a one size fits all solution
It doesn't get cut off. He pauses, and rephrases with saying its very person/condition specific.
If I understood correctly, he said there was "something in the handlebars" and then later went on and said "it's difficult to optimize handlebars on the road" and then stopped.
I think deep down he knows those bars will only work in a very narrow range of conditions and rider geometries. He just stopped short of saying it in full on a social media platform and ducked when he realized he'd said too much to hurt his sponsor. Understandable if they are paying for him and also considering Ribble are for sale.
@@Hambini about the Ribble, he says they're rider or condition specific. As opposed to the very narrow track bar he tested with virtually no wake to the upper leg, where he tested no tangible benefit as yet. Only takeaway is the wake does play a role, but its very specific.
@@Hambini That was my perception. He bit his tongue! He may know what he's doing but must look after sponsors.
Haha finally a bike related interview with enough hansomeness even my girlfriend will find it interesting.
Errr has she seen Hambini
@@assaultedpeanut9 no, but she has heard him
@@jonnythelegs2597 HELLO HAMBINI FANS
@@larsborgman3443 yeah thats the bit, ive got a couple of jbl boomboxes paired up in my paincave so I think quite a few of my neighbours hear it too.
@@jonnythelegs2597 The word on the street is PT's mum has a soft spot for me!
Is Peaqur Torque wearing make-up for this video??
leg length and crank length, Dan Bigham?
Any reason why he's riding a blacked out p5 and not the ribble in the recent world and British tt champs?
i do wake up in 4 am but i sleep in 7-8 pm cause its so damn hot biking in the afternoon. lol
Gana + Bingham = REO SPEED WAGON?!! ✌️😆🚴
What was his average power?
Its in there..
355W
Longer crank arms lower your saddle height and shrink your cross-section a bit. Ever a consideration?
surely the opposite is true - if hip angle is your main concern you should be able to run a lower saddle height with shorter cranks?
@@sharpyt1 it's not that simple, leg extension at the bottom of the stroke is a factor.
🤓🤓🤓🤓
Calculations, execution....blurred lines between zwift and real cycling
I think Dan and Ashton Lambie are twins separated at birth.
A proper, two guys in the same room having a chat - type interview would have been way better.
hmmm my best 10 mile TT is 338w for 21:18, but I'm 184cm and 86kg so like a flying brick. If only I'd been born to end up a foot shorter and 20kg lighter 😥😥😥😥
Damn my genetically inferior lineage!!!
Dan's 183cm, you're halfway there.
@@the318pop well that makes it even worse 😥😥
@@LeonEvans_Guyver1 practice sleeping in the foetal position then get on the bike without straightening your upper body 👌

The Hour Record needs to move back to the Athlete's Hour... Perhaps the only truly great thing the UCI ever did...
Each to his own. Admirable the effort and attention to detail but +99% of cyclists find this boring.
